There's only 2 chairs, and sometimes it's only the son working. Both barbers do an incredibly thorough job (way more than the cost suggests), so a decent cut will take 20 minutes or so. But in a way, I don't mind the wait. The TV in the corner is tuned to whatever station plays TV shows from the 70s most of the time, and the clientele all seem to know each other, so it's a friendly atmosphere that makes the wait just part of the experience. Highly recommended!

We gave this place a try and it was fantastic! To our surprise, the barbers were women and they were excellent. My hubby said she cut his hair just as good as George and paid more attention to detail. She took the time to discuss his hair cut and specifics. He also loved the straight blade neck shave, hot towel, and she even talked him into waxing his eyebrows! (I think that was more for my pleasure than for his .. ha ha). They made us feel comfortable and we had a few great laughs with them as well. This place also offers male pedicures, which we are excited for him to try. Great job, ladies! We will be regulars for sure. Just a note - they are walk in only (except for pedicures, which you need an appointment for) and they take cash or check only.

Mike's Barber Shop has a nice barber shop feel. They have the big chairs lined up and everything. It is nice if you are looking for that feel! Checking out was quick and easy. Notably,…read moreit is one of the few barber shops in town actually open on Sunday which is how I ended up here. Semmy is the 26 year old owner/manager who certainly works hard and knows what he is doing. He cut my hair and, like the people before me, took his time to do a good job. He is very casual but was friendly and it was comfortable setting. The price was $15 for a haircut which is better than lots of the nearby shops. Like many barber shops, there is a certain level of untidiness to be expected but I think things could have been a little cleaner. Semmy understood what I was asking for with my haircut but might have taken a little more off than I was anticipating. I am not one to get in a tizzy over my hair being too short but I do appreciate a barber who checks in on lengths throughout. Overall, a good shop and Barber. I would come back to Semmy.

My evening started with a massage treatment with Roz. The spa area is upstairs in a spacious yet private area. The room was clean and kept pleasantly warm for the cool evening. The massage itself was magic! Roz did a wonderful job easing my muscle tension and offering deep relaxation. Afterwards I had my hair trimmed by Sasha. I got my bangs and ends trimmed with angles put in to frame my face since it was one length previously and I wanted to change it up a bit. Sasha was very meticulous to detail and did an amazing job. My hair came out looking and feeling silky and healthy. Both ladies were very friendly, talented and attentive. Thank you Yelp reviewers - you didn't steer me wrong. I was told by hairstylist Jennifer in confidence that what I wanted can be easily done. 5 hours later and my hair was fried (had to cut more than two inches) and it had turned green/blue. And looked so disgusting that I had to keep my hair up or braided to not draw attention. The entire appointment Jennifer was rude and making excuses for the AWFUL things she was doing to my hair. She got to the point of cutting random chunks of my hair. I was naive and thought it was my fault based on the fact I had never lightened my hair before. She was blaming the way my hair was colored (wasn't colored), the way my hair was cut, and any other excuse she could pull. I later found out that this woman specializes in MENS HAIRCUTS. and had never mentioned to me once about how uncomfortable she was or unconfident that she could do a good job. She kept me under the dryer for almost 40 minutes with bleach and foil in my hair. And toward the end of the appointment admitted defeat by saying "I don't care what clients think of their hair, as long as I like it I know I did a good job." It's safe to say I got a refund from the owner who again, was incredibly nice. I'm just baffled that this other professional did not mention her uncertainty once and royally messed up my completely healthy hair. I was able to fix it at Beautiful People salon in Cromwell (see my review on their page to see final results). I will never be asking for Jennifer again, and am so disappointed with how unprofessional the entire experience was.
