I have a very bad knee pain due to an accident that happened two years ago. It actually got worse recently due to the activities I've been doing and I've decided to go to a specialist for it. I didn't know who was good for orthopedics at PAMF in Fremont, so I got an appointment to the nearest available doctor, Dr. Rose.
I went on time, and I was taken inside for an X-ray, the radiologist was very nice and accommodating. Then I waited for 15-20 minutes and Dr. Rose's Physician Assistant came into the room and looked at the X-ray and heard me out. She said she couldn't diagnose anything because the X-ray was clean so she said she would recommend physical therapy. She told me Dr. Rose will be in shortly. Fast forward to another 15 minutes, and in come Dr. Rose. He's a very charming person and tries to be funny but he put his pin on upside down.. Interesting. He heard my story of how my pain has been constant for two years but it got really bad in the past 3 months. What does he do? He looks at the X-ray, says it's clean, feels my knee, says it feels normal and recommends physical therapy.. He barely spent 2 minutes looking at my leg. He said that if physical therapy doesn't work, THEN he'll take an MRI after 2 months or so and if he doesn't find anything, he'll open me up. Ummm, why would I let a doctor who doesn't even spend enough time with me trying to diagnose me perform a surgery on me?!
I still went through physical therapy and guess what, my pain got worse and I spent $260 in co-payments because of this. I went to a family friend who's an orthopedist (should've just done that in the first place) and she said that physical therapy isn't good for this situation because I need to be fixed, not strengthened.. I was so mad that I lost all the money and I still have a bad knee. I haven't danced, hiked, worked out properly or even taken the stairs in over 6 months because of this! I'm going elsewhere.
The reason for this review is not to put the doctor down or make him go out of business, but for others to know what kind of a doctor he is. If you know you need surgery, I guess you could go to him. But I didn't feel like he put in any effort to diagnose my problem! Or maybe he handles advanced cases? Not sure.. read more
