Best GYN I have ever seen. Listens...really good with difficult cases like pelvic floor surgery.

He was the one delivering my dear baby girl. I highly recommend this obgyn. Everyone is super knowledgeable, and if they don't know the answer they don't hesitate to find it out for you. This was my first pregnancy, so I had so many questions. They never made me feel stupid for asking. Dr. Grant was amazingly calm during my version because baby was breech, as well as the other doctor whom I forgot her name. They worked sooooo well together during my procedure, made sure I was calm, and even though baby didn't turn I felt like we all had the same goal- to make sure baby and I was okay. I delivered via c section- and Dr. Tyler was so calm and had nothing but positive vibes. I don't know how anyone can be so calm with us women being so nervous to have these babies. To everyone at Sacred Heart, thank you! I'm writing this review because I saw the low ratings. I wanted everyone to know my positive experience, and give this wonderful office a chance!

I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 24y by Dr. Spaniol after an elective surgery in October 2025, and was scheduled for a hysterectomy in January 2026; I shortly provided Spokane OBGYN with my application for medical leave through WA Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA). They charged me for the application forms and never filled them out, returned them, or even informed me about their status; I had to request a refund at my pre-op appointment because my psychiatrist had agreed to help me and I'd already been on leave for over a month. When I returned to work in March 2026, I discussed workplace accommodations for a reduced schedule with my HR department & forwarded the request form to Spokane OBGYN in April 2026 for signature. Weeks passed, and my follow-up messages were ignored. Eventually, I was informed that it was sent to their FMLA department (even though I'm asking for schedule accommodations through my workplace, not applying for FMLA leave a 2nd time through the state) so they didn't know where my form was at. After about 2 months, they finally told me that Dr. Spaniol will not sign the request form because she's not an endometriosis specialist, even though she's the one who diagnosed me and the only OBGYN I've seen-- essentially, I waited all that time just for them to say they did absolutely. nothing. I was referred to schedule with Dr. Newell, and told that I could get her signature on my request form. Reception said she was booked out until October 5th (it was now July), and I took the appointment because I had no other options. On 10/1, I received a call from the same receptionist; she explained that she "wasn't aware" of my financial history in July, so the appointment would need to be cancelled and I could no longer schedule with them. Immensely confused and heartbroken because I've been barely scraping by while waiting for this appointment since March, I asked, "What does my financial history have to do with anything?" and all she said was, "I don't know, I just heard from billing." I was not given ANY explanation, payment options, alternatives, or referrals. It has now been 1 year since I received my endometriosis diagnosis, and I still have no relief in place for my symptoms. While I understand that private practices are not subject to all financial anti-discrimination protections, Spokane OBGYN is still subject to the ethical requirements of the WA State Board of Nursing. In the time that I waited to hear from Spokane OBGYN, I could have met with a different provider to sign my forms, like I had to last year, instead of suffering through all of 2026 just to be kicked to the curb. Spokane OBGYN's failure to reasonably communicate, especially when no action was taken, or provide advance notice or follow-up referrals has put me through indescribable stress, pain, and anguish. I run out of PTO ~3 months early every year since it all goes to medical care & obligations; I often have to work 9-hour days without breaks when returning from a flare-up just to make up my time. I feel abandoned by the providers who cut into my body & gave me the devastating news of my diagnosis, then slammed the door in my face because my insurance was paying for my medical costs.

Okay, again with the scraping-and-fisting jokes…read more Now that the awkward bits are out of the way, I'd like to address some serious concerns. This practice seems to have ten times as many clients as they can handle. I'm always seen promptly, however, the doctor has no recollection of who I am when he walks in. I can finally write this review with a clear head now that some of the dust has settled. I had a series of ovarian cysts over the summer, presumably as a result of switching to a mirena IUD. (overshare, girlfriends!) After 6 pelvic exams in as many weeks and FIVE ultrasounds, it was beginning to feel a little.. well... I dunno, rapey? I like science. As a matter of fact, I love science. I just don't want to have SEX with science, get it? I was nearly in tears as the doctor told me that after a "rough" exam (trust me, Dr. Bermeo, I NOTICED) he didn't think there was anything truly wrong and that I was being dramatic. Oh, really? Because having a belly so distended that I can't wear jeans doesn't feel dramatic. Neither does YOUR advice to sustain pelvic rest for SIX WEEKS because I'm at risk of ovarian tortion (when your ovary flips over because of the weight of the cysts and it requires major abdominal surgery, resulting in the loss of fertility.) After telling me I'm being dramatic, he tells me that he'd like to schedule surgery for a double oophorectomy. Do you know what that is? No? I didn't either, so I asked for more information. Turns out, while I am being a total drama-queen, he is still suggesting that I undergo major abdominal surgery to remove my ovaries. But I'm overreacting. After all this, he's telling me he's going to put me back on the pill after all is said and done. Why bother? I won't have any ovaries! I made an appointment with a respected naturopath and was able to get in on a cancelation .. At this appointment, I learned how diet affects our body's ability to regulate things - LIKE HORMONES THAT CAUSE CYSTS. She suggested that I give up hormone-laden things like dairy and omit gluten and see where I was in a couple weeks... I've now been following my naturopath's advice for over a year with ZERO cyst activity .. and I still have my ovaries. Moreover, I've found a well-respected NEW gynecologist who doesn't patronize, belittle me or trivialize my situation. When she's got her hands inside me (or outside, for that matter) she is kind, thoughtful and expresses genuine concern for my wellbeing. She definitely strikes me as busy, but she never imposes her busyness on me as impatience or inconvenience. A patient should never feel like a burden on a doctor; it is because of this, as well as everything from above, that I feel that Dr. Bermeo and the whole Rockwood system can suck it.
