All of the staff are great. Everyone does a good job. However much like our country the leadership…read moreis a problem. ALWAYS itemize, read and understand EVERYTHING on your bill from Mercy. If you see a charge with no description do not pay it until they tell you what it is for. Mercy is constantly getting in trouble for double and false billing. My recent bill had $16k for ( ) blank. They also tried to charge me for the work my surgeon did, who already charged me for his service.

I got in very quickly but was put in a small, closet like room for what seemed like forever. I didn't feel like I was taken very seriously. However, my dad has frequented the ER, and had extended stays, multiple times. Mercy is his hospital of choice. For 1, it's not Maine Med, it's not nearly as busy, the hospital is new, clean and the rooms contain one patient and are super big and cushy. I know my dad ate the baked haddock almost every night and said the food was better than everywhere else he's been and unfortunately he's been to many. The level of care appears to be very good and nurses are attentive to patient needs. My one complaint is how far you have to walk from the entrance to patient rooms, but that's true of any hospital.

When I was FINALLY called in the actual emergency area, I was directed to a gurney in the passageway in front of a nurses' station where I had to wait some more time, about 20 minutes or so before seeing a very nice doctor, very briefly. He unwrapped my hand & commenting that the person who cleaned and treated my hand did a very good job bandaging up the wounds.

I'm just not sure of this place. I know that it's faster than the ER, but not by much…read more The time it takes isn't what bothers me though. When you check in, it is usually with a really cheerful person. Then you are called back by a moderately friendly nurse? CNA? Not sure which and they bring you back. The last time I was there I watched the nurse play on Facebook for 2 hours while we waited... for check out papers. That's it, check out papers. Also, the female doctor there- always makes a snarky comment to me. Once she said that she could not believe that I drove my daughter there and didn't get an ambulance to the ER (my child is 15 and fell during practice- she had a mild concussion) I told her that I didn't know, the coach said to go there. Other times the comments have been more along the lines of- this is something her primary doctor could attend to. I am not an idiot, but sometimes my doctor can't squeeze us in. This last time- my daughter fell at practice and her doctor told me to go there (I called her first). When we arrived it was a male doctor that ordered X-rays and then the shift changed. Here she is again- this time she says, "you must want your child to have cancer in her 40's. You really don't need to get an X-ray of everything." I again am not a doctor, I didn't order the X-rays. Needless to say, I'm not going back. I'll drive to the one in Yarmouth or take my chances in the ER.
