I have been a patient at Intermed for nearly three years and truly love Dr. Coleman, which makes this review difficult to write. She is an exceptional physician and none of what follows reflects on her. The issue is entirely structural. Over the past year, Intermed has implemented scheduling requirements that make it nearly impossible to access routine care. Getting an appointment requires multiple calls, repeating your full medical history to different staff members each time just to be "approved," and even then telehealth is rarely an option regardless of how recently you were seen. Callbacks are inconsistent at best. As someone managing chronic health conditions, this is not workable. I understand physicians are given tight 15-minute windows and that this is out of physicians' control. But simple visits like medication management or a brief touchbase to relay specialist updates should not require weeks of effort just to get on the schedule. The friction rivals that of a specialist office, which is not what you expect from a primary care practice. Intermed is likely a fine fit for patients who need one annual physical and nothing more. For anyone requiring more frequent or complex primary care, I'd encourage you to weigh that carefully. It's a shame, because the quality of the physicians themselves doesn't match the experience the system creates around them. Poor communication from staff. Most problematic was not being able to see my provider and saw an NP named Casey S who was rude, rough, and just didn't care. May as well have seen Regina George for a provider. read more

Good doctors, nice and helpful staff. The worst app I have seen in years. It works terribly and it's impossible to contact providers. I'm assuming it's designed by the CEO's son. If it wasn't, someone needs to be fired because the entire app is embarrassingly awful and just doesn't work for consumers. It's so bad that it's clear the staff doesn't use it either because they take far too long to respond. We end up calling everyone (that in itself can be an adventure but eventually someone will be reached. read more

I've been a patient at Yarmouth Intermed for at least 5 years now, and I went to the Portland location previously. The customer service has always been top notch and I've always been able to talk to a person when I call. There's lots of parking and never a wait. I experienced waits in Portland so for that reason I prefer Yarmouth over Portland. Such a great option for your Healthcare needs. read more

Great Family Practice. Dr. J. Scott Patch is very thorough, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable. The staff is fantastic, right from the Administration Staff to the Nursing and Lab Staff. The Receptionist, Amanda, is awesome! She made my day with her efficiency, kindness, and charming banter and conversation. Dr. Aiken has put every single member of my family at risk for serious harm, and I strongly believe that his nonchalant negligence is largely responsible for the premature death of my mother. She went in to see him because she was feeling pain in her throat, which he basically laughed off as nothing, and it turned out to be cancer spreading in her body, which eventually killed her. It is especially unforgivable that he did not even consider that it could be something serious, as she had already had cancer of the same type not long before that appointment. A few years before, my father requested blood tests that detect cancer early, and Dr. Aiken discouraged him from getting the tests. Fortunately, my father persisted, and those exact tests eventually did detect his cancer early enough to save his life - no thanks to Dr. Aiken. My sister went to see him for tick bites she was concerned about, considering the prevalence of Lyme disease, and she was basically laughed out of the office, with nothing done to make sure that she was not infected. My brother and I were both prescribed very serious anti-depression medication after extremely short, curt visits with Dr. Aiken to discuss our anxiety issues. My brother took the medication, and he has experienced many negative side effects. I did not take it, and have since improved my state of mind through the use of yoga and other natural remedies. It sickens me that I could have had my natural body chemistry tampered with unnecessarily, probably because Dr. Aiken has some kind of deal with the pharmaceutical company making the drug, though I don't know that for sure. My family has now, after decades with Intermed, finally changed doctors, and if you depend on Dr. Aiken for potentially life-saving or live-altering medical guidance - DON'T. read more

If you are looking for a Doctor accepting new patients, don't even bother. I tried 2 location, Portland and Yarmouth. Both times I was sent to a voice mail to leave my information and told by a recorded message they would get back to me within 5 business days. They did do this, but both times a message was left in my voice mail that MOST of their Doctors had l full patient loads and were not accepting new patient. They left no contact information so you could ask any sort of question. What a waste of time. I think they are screening their patients. No customer service, so it's just as well I look elsewhere. I switched my PCP to Intermed three years ago and have been very happy. The staff ... from reception to nurses to docs, imaging, labs, etc ... all kind, patient and top notch. Very happy with this practice. read more

I have been with this practice since it was a two doctor shop in the 80's. Lots has changed. The receptionists and phone triage nurses are friendly and helpful but it stops there. Lab technicians can be quite surly. My doctor has gone from being the enthusiastic health care provider to an overworked patient processor. He will occasionally feign interest in me as a person as he is leaving the exam room but you'll need to follow him down the hall to answer. Exams are short, my annual physical amounted to Blood Pressure, Temperature and "How do you feel ?" They will do all they can to channel you to their imaging department for a $2,000+ scan that will come up normal. Several times my doctor's notes and next steps ( as read to me later by a triage nurse on the phone) contradict what we discussed in the appointment. It is all too bad. There is a lot of talent there but the regime focuses more on through put that patient care. It's all about the money. read more

Today was my first visit to Intermed as a patient. My son's pediatrician is located here as well so I've visited plenty of times in the last year. My experience with the pediatrician has been nothing short of amazing. They are always on time for appointments. The staff, doctors, and nurses are fantastic-helpful, caring, and smart. We can always get in the same day for sick visits and the on-call service after hours always returns calls in a timely manner. My experience as a patient today was good. The only downside was the wait. I scheduled this appointment in the middle of a work day because it was a well visit and I figured it would be quick. I waited for 45 minutes for a 15 minute appointment. Once I was brought into the room, everyone was very apologetic for the wait. The doctor was great and I'm ultimately happy that I chose this practice. I wasn't thrilled about the 45 minute wait. I guess next time I will know to bring my laptop and work in the waiting room. read more

You need to see Dr. Wesley Johnson. We have been going to him for 14 years and are so happy to have found him. He takes the time to know us personally and professionally. When my husband was very sick this summer Dr. Johnson took it upon himself to organize the different doctors because he was concerned about his care. Saved my husbands life. read more
