Guzina Oaxaca, located in Polanco, Mexico City, is a restaurant that was bright in from a famous…read morechef from Oaxaca. I wanted to make it a point to seek out some authentic oaxacan mole, so I chose this spot that was recommended by eater.com and the Michelin guide. Had the black mole with duck breast, which was served with rice and a plantain. It was so good as the flavors were so complex and they paired really well with the perfectly cooked duck, the rice, and my fruity cocktail. On that note, I ordered one of their speciality cocktails with passionfruit and it was so good. I actually enjoyed my cocktail, made with fresh fruit, here more than the world renowned bar down the street. Also got salsa made tableside and an appetizer of pork taquitos (which, in this context, were tiny tacos). Both were flavor bombs. Overall, we are glad that we stopped by to get a sampling of very flavorful food from this restaurant and I'd definitely come back!

They had table side salsa which was nice to watch and then try. We tried a few of the appetizers and non alcoholic drinks. I would say some of the dishes were a bit too salty and as yummy as the drinks were mine was too sweet. The main dishes on the other hand were really delicious and unique. I will say the service was impeccable, they checked on us often and even found a charger so we could charge our phones! Very great hospitality and service.

The only good meal I had in Mexico City…read more Living in San Diego and visiting Tijuana for food quite often, I guess I'm used to above average restaurant experiences. I would've thought Mexico City had great food in general, but that wasn't the case. Was there for four days, ate many meals out and this was the only one I really enjoyed. Too bad the place was so hot and stuffy. It was cooler outside than it was inside. All they needed to do was open some windows. Service was great though.

I come here for the Molé, as it is a guarantee that it's going to be good and this time was no different. We came on a Friday night, and I thought it would be packed, but there was not a soul in the restaurant. We were seated and brought tortilla chips and salsa, and ordered margaritas. The chips were terrible, basically small, uncut tortillas that have been put on the fire and were actually burned. I did get them to bring more regular tortilla chips but they weren't great either. I find it difficult to get good tortilla chips here in CDMX but hey. Things went straight up from there, the Margaritas were the best I had here in Mexico City, one of the best that I have EVER had! We ordered quesadillas for a started, they were perfect. For the main, I had my usual- Chicken Molé- and it was definitely up to their standard- and some of the best Molé I have ever had. Service was a bit hit or miss, and suddenly I looked up and the place was packed! While there are many Mexican restaurants in the Polanco area, this one is a guarantee for a great Molé!

There are two dining areas and a fascinating little store that sells tea, jewelry, designer clothes and in the hallway, beauty products (I think). Note: It is quite dark. I felt really old because I needed my phone light to read the menu, but our much younger waiter also had trouble seeing to process our credit card lol. Service was kind and professional. Tuscan food is unusual for us and we don't eat many of the ingredients, so our selections were a bit limited. Happily, we both found dishes that we enjoyed. My husband had chicken breast, which came with a salad snd sweet potato puree. The salad dressing was so light and lemony. I want to come back just for that. My white fish was Mediterranean in style and cooked in a sauce of cherry tomato, artichokes, olives and capers. It was delicious, but enough for two or three meals, so I took some home. Our meals came with herbed crisp breads and herb butter. They have a nice selection of teas and I absolutely loved the white tea with flower petals and lychee. Overall, a great find.
