Resulted in a fine and work stoppage Requested, and received, "reimbursement" for an Environmental inspection he claimed to have paid. Months later come to find he had not paid before or after - and had increased the amount due by 10%. Fortunately, the check memo stated its purpose and the company agreed. Submitted plan after plan with missing windows and without discussed changes, then saying they could be done during the work - while the Contractor made clear this would be a change order resulting in increased costs Plans included incorrect and incomplete door and window schedules. One such issue resulted in non-tempered glass being used when zoing required Tempered. Inspection found this resulting in additional costs and replacement in multiple locations. Printing large scale plans repeatedly - though they were incomplete and incorrect - and adding to the fees charged. Continual attempts to upsell. His Go -to Beam and Post designs, which he 'happens' to have a stock of Beams for sale. Attempts to sell vinyl window treatments displayed in his adjacent building. After refusing these his behavior deteriorated.

When I told him we were getting multiple quotes he dropped the price to $1,000, all without seeing the space. I asked if he does prep and patching as well and he said yes. After getting other quotes I invited Chad to the house to see the work in person. He said it was no problem and it would be the same price and would take 3-4 days. He started work on Monday 2/6. Right off the bat his work looked rough and scattered. There didn't really seem to be any plan. He left a mess of drywall bits and dust for me to clean up as well as his equipment scattered everywhere. It was day 1 so we gave him the benefit of the doubt. After a full day of painting on Tuesday there was no better look to his work and yet another mess of drywall bits and dust. He stopped by in the evening because he lost his phone so while he was in the house I pointed out some concerns. After he left I realized my heat was off.. I asked Chad if he turned it off and he said he did it. IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER HE TURNED MY HEAT OFF. (I attached that conversation in a photo) By end of the day Wednesday he had packed up his stuff but the work was incomplete. He did address the concerns we pointed out the day before. we went around the house and placed sticky notes by spots that needed touched up along with a list of specifics. He had left a patch with wet mud so we knew he would be back Thursday morning. On Thursday he was only at the house for 2 hours. When my husband got home he discovered half our list was ignored and the patch was still wet. After my husband was home for about 20 minutes, Chad shows up. He starts working on the patch right away without any communication. When my husband walked him through the house and expressed his concerns Chad gives him attitude, excuses and starts saying that it would be more paint and more MONEY! Because all of a sudden he claims he charges by the day.. Throughout this entire project there was little to no communication. The work is incomplete, poor quality and messy.

A new bathroom in the garage bordering this space. Simple, quick as agreed on. Instead more than three months later he produced a two page sketch of the buildings shell, and a bill for 4x the stated amount(with NO agreement or understanding). He sent plans to contractors for bidding, then to find he did NOT provide plans just this sketch. Moss now claims to have been acting as a designer. His front window proclaims his AIA membership. His website describes him as an Architect. If he wasn't going to fulfill the contract as an Architect, this should have been stated. If he wasn't going to deliver plans, like the detailed ones from a former project he took at the first meeting, he should have stated that at the beginning or at any time. He also summarily cancelled the bathroom and delivered plans with NO ELECTRICITY OR PLUMBING. Got more money promising to ensure the plans received building permits, then quit as soon as he got it and it was discovered missing anything other than his sketch. Required budget was not met, nor any of the requirements originally stated. Then turns out he is NOT even licensed as an architect in the state of Michigan. Something else he doesn't disclose. And more, bad. Go elsewhere.
