I cannot believe I am writing this review because I've gotten my haircut the last 3 years here. It used to be 5 stars in my opinion, however I've gone to three different barbers the past couple of months because none seem to stay available or the barbers leave the business. However, the reason why I'm writing this is because I booked a haircut recently on May 22nd at 3:45. I got the text message saying to confirm my appointment like I always receive the day before a haircut. I confirm my haircut appointment message by clicking CONFIRM like I always have. I walk in 10 minutes early to get checked in, only to find out that my name was not on the schedule! And that someone else was booked at the same time I was supposed to get my haircut. The lady at the front desk couldn't provide any information on what went wrong and just said "Oh that's too bad, i'm sorry" "maybe we can get you next week around Thursday, the 29th". I then asked, "Can you see me today as a walk in?" She goes, "Sorry, everyone is booked today" (Acting like I didn't book the haircut on the day I'm supposed to get one). And then, I asked "Who would have canceled the appointment when I have the confirmation on my phone?" She goes, "Looks like someone called and canceled the appointment". To which I was automatically frustrated by that and said "Who called? Because it wasn't me!" Couldn't help me and was a lousy excuse to cancel my appointment without my approval. Disappointed in how downhill this Barrelli has gone. Definitely recommend passing on this Barrelli until they get a new front desk representative replacement or at least somebody that's a little more competent. read more

This business is the epitome of what a barbershop should be. Beautiful and relaxing decor, filled with talented barbers from all walk of life. They take such good care of you while you're here. They have multiple locations, but this one is in the perfect location for me right off Park Circle. They operate by appointment only and this is great because you never have to worry about waiting for over an hour to sit in a chair. If you feel like coming in early they will accommodate you with comfy seating and a tv to check out the game. They even offer complimentary drinks while you relax. I just finished my package here where I purchased a series of bead trims and haircuts all in one and can say I was always satisfied with my cuts and the ladies there who preformed the services as well. I was always treated well and never felt rushed which is one thing I can't stand when going to a barber or salon for a cut. The space is nice and easy to get to but parking can be an issue if it is busy. Always make an appointment here! Don't try and walk-in. I would say that the prices are the only thing that keep me from giving them 5 stars. I get that it is what it is because of the experience of the staff and the clientele they are trying to draw in, but "starting at" $35 for a simple cut is a bit much for men. Great place though! I would say if you're looking for a good cut or beard trim, certainly give them a try. read more

This isn't where I get my haircut, but I did come in for a beard trim. My friend was getting married and and wanted the guys to get together a few days before for some grooming. I had just had my haircut so I opted for the beard trim only. When I came in the other guys were already in their respective chairs. I was greeted with a glass of bourbon and waited a few minutes before my beard guy was ready. I was a little skeptical about going to a stranger for a beard trim, but he asked a lot of questions and make sure that he didn't cut any more than I wanted. He cleaned me up and added some product and then I sat at the bar waiting for the other guys to finish up. One got his nose waxed which was quite entertaining. Barrelli Barber is such a fantastic business and my husband's been coming to them for several years now. They've expanded since his first visit and now have three locations; downtown, park circle, and mount pleasant. Their business model works so well because it caters to men who want to look their best and be catered to once in a while. What sold me was that they are a schedule only business so when you walk in you know you'll be seated right away. Often barbershops can have you waiting over an hour for a haircut and that's not Barrelli. When you step in you're welcomed by all the staff and they offer you a drink. This blew his mind when he came by because he'd never been to a barbershop where they served you libations while you enjoyed a premium haircut. The decor for all of these places certainly has a masculine touch. Lots of deep wood colors and industrial styling with the perfect amount of lighting and TVs showing whatever game you want. Everyone is so friendly and I can truly say every barber is highly skilled. My husband has yet to have a bad cut from any of them, but he most often goes to see Nichole, Ariella, and Haley. Very solid barber shop! I made an appointment online as my "regular" barber was all booked up for the day I needed. The online booking system is very easy to use so thank you for that. Upon arrival at the Cigar Factory outpost I was greeted warmly upon entering to check in. At check in I was offered a beverage and they had an assortment of soft drinks, coffee, water, beers, etc. which I truly appreciated. I was presented with my drink and notified that my barber would be right with me as she was finishing up another cut. I perused the retail area for a minute and grabbed a seat. Upon taking my first sip Cassundra came over to greet me and bring me to her station. She gave me a nice cut and we had a good conversation along the way. I would highly recommend anyone going here as the service was spot on, the amenities were nice and they had a great retail selection. I wish they had a barber shop like this in every city so when I traveled for work or pleasure I could get a cut whenever needed and be confident walking in I was going to get it properly done. read more

Stopped at Barrelli Barber for the first (and last) time today. I walked in and saw one guy waiting and at least 4 or 5 employees working. Before I could say much more than hello, the counter girl said they were all booked up and I should come back in the future. With one person waiting and 4 barbers I would expect they could fit in a walk in. The counter girl shot that down. She made it apparent she didn't want me there. Not the attitude I would expect in a customer service company. I was really looking forward to it with all of the advertising they do, her approach completely shut me down. My usual barber shop was closed so I thought I'd give Barrelli a shot. It's in the cigar factory so the location is convenient and there was parking available which was one of my concerns. The shop was clean and they were on time. Overall it was a mediocre experience. The barber was nice but she didn't seem to have an opinion on cutting my hair and I thought she needed me to tell her exactly what to do. Edit/Update: After my experience below, I was in contact with Laran the owner who was very genuine and made a significant effort to make the situation right. Laran scheduled me the next available appointment with Barb who was great. She took the time to sort my hair out, asked me how I usually style it, and made some recommendations (which I appreciate). They also offered me some product to make up for my extra trip back to the salon. They handled my review seriously and professional and stood behind their guarantee to have a satisfied customer. Initial Review: I showed up early for my 4:30 appointment and she took me back at 4:10. After explaining how I usually get my hair cut, she used clippers on the side, and cleaned up the top a little. She didn't cut all my hair, just cleaned it up. She asked if I wanted anything else done "I said as long as the whole top is trimmed" then she proceeds to cut more hair, after asking, and brought me over for a shampoo. (I can't see how the top or back of my head looks. It's her job to trim it and make it look good) Then a shave around the neckline at the back. I've never felt so rushed. She mentioned I was her last appointment and she got to go home after me. I was in line to pay at 4:27. So a total of 17 minutes to take me back, cut my hair, shampoo, style, and shave the neckline. She never offered a mirror to look at my fade in the back - and I realized that as I got in my car. (You shouldn't have to speak up for things that are standard everywhere) If you want an overpriced and rushed haircut come here. If you like overpaying for a cut just because you get a shampoo and a hot towel on your neck then come here. Otherwise don't. This is the worst value for money I've ever had on a haircut. First and last time here. Amongst other things, the top around my cowlick isn't trimmed and hair is sticking up all over the place now that I'm home and my hair is dried. read more
