    Triptych Pretty Nice Little Saturday
    Steve A.

Barrelhouse 34 is a place for trying a beer. In fact many of beers that is. Prices are pretty okay for some things. Lots of local and regional beers on tap and some that are kind of hard to find anywhere else. There's also activities like darts and games. I like how it samples a lot of close by craft breweries. Lots of these are pretty well known. There's some however that aren't and this is what makes this a cool place. Also the darts. But the beer is the main thing. A friend and I came in here recently to each get a beer. She had something better known like a Goose Island. I instead got one of the more local beers by Triptych called Pretty Nice Little Saturday. It's $5 a pint. This is an American light lager and is smooth. A lot of good local beers. It doesn't have any kitchen so they don't save any food. There's a good truck across the street and you can bring it over and bring the food inside.

came on a thursday evening for $8 moscow mule barrels and they were so yummy the rooftop area was cute too

Cute little Moscow mule at a really nice low key bar, darts available if you want them!

Awesome environment, cool dart throwing option. Drinks are good and simple. Wish they had appetizers but it's a bar, what more could you want than great drinks!

I enjoy this bar so much, even though they do not sell any food and the prices are not really "cheap", the good atmosphere makes going worth it. MOSTLY during good weather days in which you can enjoy the nice rooftop Staff wasn't the nicest

A bar in downtown Champaign with a rooftop? Finally! The bar itself is decorated very nicely overall and it's fairly large, which is a plus. But what's really good is the cocktail and beer menu. I'm happy this place is open. I can tell I'll be here often!

I experienced nothing but super friendly bar staff. Some of them are more knowledgable than others but it's obvious that this place just opened so hopefully with time, they'll get it sorted out. This place also has a really great selection of whiskey. Some of it distilled in Illinois! I'm no connoisseur but I don't think you can get some of this whiskey at any other bar in town. So, where this place starts to unravel in a big way for me is the concept. The beer selection is good but not all that impressive. I only saw one beer on tap that I couldn't remember drinking before and my boyfriend and I had a lengthy discussion where he remembers us tasting it so maybe I had. There's better selection at the grocery store down the street from my house. For a place that supposedly prides itself on "midwestern craft beer", I felt like a deflated balloon when I finally saw the draft list that lists lots of bigger name craft beer with much of it from outside the midwest. The cocktails are kind of rebranded versions of things I've had at other places in town. They're just not unique. I had the winter mule which was good, a little on the sweet side and kind of just tasted like your average wells drink from a dive bar. Also, the decor in my opinion is a little tired. Lots of "reclaimed" wood and I mean LOTS like floor to ceiling lots! It reminds you of a lot of other craft beer + whiskey bars in town. Even the antique pig sculpture behind the counter seems like a blatant rip-off of another bar thats been doing this concept for way longer. I say come here when that bar gets crowded beyond what you can stand but I'm not sure I'd make a trip just to check this place out. With craft beer and whiskey at the height of popularity right now, they're just not doing enough to really set themselves apart from the rest. They're kind of getting there with the whiskey selection but more could be done to really flesh out the whole concept.

If you're coming for great ambiance, this is the place to come! The lighting and reclaimed wood make this a picture-worthy place. They also have a rooftop decorated in the same manner and it's so cute and different for Champaign! The staff was average--they weren't particularly rude, but they also weren't friendly. One thing they could improve on is their service. I think the prices here are average--don't expect the prices of a dive. They have a good selection of beers, mostly from Midwest craft breweries, and offer $2 off draft beer on Tuesdays. I tried the Texas Mule and although it was good, it was nothing special. Although I would go back, I would get something other than a mule.

    Cool wooden tables?

Good place to grab a beer. Not a brewery but has a good selection of beer. Dart boards are a plus.

Kemp's is probably the best place to go eat in town it seems. A good reason is because there's not much else. The food is pretty average but there's some good things for adults and families. Chill atmosphere even at times when it's crowded. It's located in the middle of downtown or whatever you call it. There's not a whole lot else to go to for a meal. Certainly explains why it gets busy. People only have a few choices and this is one of these. It's about $6 for a basic cocktail. Whole lot of great stuff including whiskey. It's about $5 to get appetizers. We got the Chips And Salsa. Has a lot of greasy fried things like wings and other meats. The menu is pretty standard as far as fried stuff. Has a lot of the basics. It's closed Sundays. That's pretty strange for them to lose out on all that revenue on weekends.

The staff here was fabulous with a special shout-out to John. What I found particularly impressive was the amazing selection of craft brews for a small town. The staff was particularly knowledgeable about both the selection and even the breweries that supplied them! I even found some of my favorite and uncommon Chicagoland brews, although I selected some excellent brews from the Bloomington/Normal area. ( Drink local!) Food was wonderful and quickly delivered. I gave five stars on food because it is top quality relative to pubs in general. The Blue Cheese burger was great. I sampled the butterflied pork chop sandwich of the other meal we had and that was a standout! Ambiance is nice as if fitting a local pub in an older downtown building. One notable feature is the walls and ceiling are covered in banners and flags of various kinds which dramatically limits the amount of background noise that would normally be in such a building. There is also a nice outdoor beer garden. This local establishment is well worth the extra minutes off Interstate 55. Also highly recommended to cycling who travel out to the northeast terminus of the trail!
