The entire intro experience was welcoming, fun, and less intimidating than expected. My first class I was shocked at how quickly we went into an upbeat, music-synced aerobic routine - very much like what we called an "energizer" in school: easy to follow and fun to do in unison with a group. There were small reps with provided stretchy bands, light handheld weights (I went with 2 lbs for my first class), and these squishy playground-type balls. This all sounds easy, but halfway through class, my legs were uncontrollably shaking and I had sweat visibly dripping off of my face onto the floor. The next day I could barely move my legs. Low impact, high reward! I've now been back 10 times this month and don't plan on stopping! Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Barre 3 to anyone looking for a great workout class! I took several classes at…read morethis studio and loved every minute of it. The hour long sessions go by quickly and are a great combination of traditional barre workouts while incorporating cardio and light weights (2-3 pound). I had taken classes at another barre chain in town and never felt like I was truly working out, but Barre 3 will make you sweat and feel like you're time was well spent with an effective, fast-paced workout. The instructors were very helpful and offered modifications for beginners, intermediates, and those who were experienced during the classes.

I've only been to their main location which is on Bluff Road and 10 minutes away from the Vista area. It's in a stand alone building and as soon you enter, you see a small giftshop and a front desk which an employee warmingly greets you. They have a men and women's area that you can change and some small cubbies that you can use to store personal belongings in. The main yoga room is fairly large and can fit probably around 30 or so people at max capacity. My favorite class that they have is hot yoga. As soon as you enter, you feel the heat and high humidity against your face. I wouldn't recommend this for beginners though, as it can be challenging to do some of the poses and deal with the heat. Be sure to bring a water bottle and keep hydrated. At the end of every class, they give you a cold lavender towel to put on your face which is really refreshing. My favorite instructor is Kyra and her classes fill up quickly so I recommend signing up online for the class to save some time and to show up at least 15 minutes before the class starts so that you can have a good spot. As I attend USC, I only have to pay $9 for each class so it's very affordable for students. There's a small fee to rent their yoga mats so I recommend bringing your own. They also have water bottles for sale at the front. I recommend this place whether you're an expert to yoga or just beginning!

What a great first time at Bar Method!!!…read more It's the new year and I've said for YEARS that I need to either join a yoga studio or go back to a bar class. I currently go to a gym but let's face it...I am getting up there in age and I can't be squatting jumping and pivoting like the young peeps anymore. They have three different themes (my current gym) so I'm only going to the strength focused classes. I need something else additional. I knew there was a barre studio near me so site unseen, I signed up for a small package online. Hahaha! When ya know..ya know, ya know? (Ha!) Like my first time at a barre class 9 years ago, I was slightly petrified. I'll be the new girl...who's 9 ft tall...who's not flexible at all. I knew I would stick out like a purple unicorn in a zoo (omg lol my description is hilarious so let's go with it) but honestly I am so determined to do more for myself and health I just had to breathe through that fear and I'm glad I did. Walked into a BEAUTIFUL space and was greeted. The instructor and the receptionist were both nice. They showed me the ropes and into class I went. The class was so good and just what I needed. Fast, efficient and brutal. Those 2 lbs weights start to feel like 10 lbs quickly. There are lockers, locker room and tons of merchandise. Beautiful and clean and calm space!! If you are looking to try it, just close your eyes, buy the class and GO! Your muscles and mental health will thank you later!

I've been going for over a year with several instructors - but my absolute fav is Caroline B. She is clear with instruction, her class flow is great and she is always hands on to help! Hilliard Studio Method is one of the studios I've wanted to try since signing up for Class Pass, but have managed to talk myself out of signing up because I've been super intimidated. I was intimidated because, through word of mouth, and a few Yelp reviews, I heard that the classes were super hard and the instructors/other class participants were unfriendly and perhaps a little snobby. While the class was extremely challenging, I found the instructor and other participants to be friendly and welcoming. The only issue I had was keeping up, the class was very full and at several points in the class I could not see what the instructor was doing. I'll definitely return to Hilliard Studio Method again soon because I want to be as long and lean as the instructors... next time, I'll place my mat closer to the instructor! Don't let the Myers Park address scare you away ...I felt perfectly at home in my Target workout attire!
