Alright! I literally used the spit cup so much for all my wines that I felt like a burro. I could not stomach them. The descriptions though were so good that I felt like they were a man's whiskey description. I do feel like if you are a manly man who likes that Dr. Squatch type stuff to clean your pits with and guns and bullets and shit like that, this is your wine bar! The labels are badass, the servers are nice but the wine I feel is like not for me. However, I wish I could give this place a 3.5 because that Secret Weapon was good. It literally cleans your pallet after each drink so you can have more! I also like the set up. Sadly, I don't like the wines. I wish I could though because I loved the ambiance! read more

I discovered Barrage Cellars in January and I've been extremely impressed with all of their wines. This is one of the few wineries that I'm a fan of every single wine they produce. The winemaker Kevin is extremely friendly and knowledgable. He has brought out barrel samples for people to taste. Usually there are 2 whites to taste, 1 rose, and about 3 to 4 reds. The tasting fee is $5 and refundable when you purchase a bottle. read more

Visited Barrage Cellars for my first time this weekend and I'll definitely be back! The wines were fantastic and I left with purchases of their "Nuclear Blonde" and "Secret Weapon". The hostess was very sweet and even came out to where we were sitting to pour our new tastes. Glad she did, because it's hard to get out of those comfy wine barrel lounge chairs! My only suggestion would be for Barrage to offer some kind of litlte snack...crackers/cheese/etc as that is always the icing on the cake for my wine tasting experience! read more

Barrage Cellars was doing barrel tasting when we visited which is always fun, trying out the wine while it's young and still doing its thing before bottling and release. We tried their chardonnay in the barrel as well as a blend of cab sauvignons from two different vineyards. White wines are kind of fun when tasted straight from the barrel because they have an element of effervescence about them. After the barrel tasting, we got to try two of their reds in the main tasting room, the Secret Weapon (which is their syrah) and the Outcast (their cab franc). I happen to love a straight cab franc, though my BF thinks they are a bit metallic. I leaned toward the cab franc and he was on team syrah this time around, though I admit the syrah was very flavorful. The wine maker is animated and excited to talk about wine. Step one for visiting Barrage Cellars is figuring out how to say it. This is a little confusing because it might be tempting to pronounce it to rhyme with "carriage" but the insider tip is that it actually rhymes with "garage." And though it evokes images of artillery strikes, the official back story is that Kevin the winemaker started out apprenticing to some nice folks who made wine in their barn and then he made his first vintages in, well, his own garage; so, the name of the winery is an homage (rhyme that any way you care to) to his humble beginnings in the craft. Humble beginnings, indeed, but he and his wine have come a long way. Barrage, in my opinion, is one of the hottest tickets going in Woodinville. They do varietal wines at Barrage, and at first glance it looks like the sort of line-up you see in a lot of Washington tasting rooms: Chard, Merlot, Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, a Syrah and an off-dry Riesling. The difference is in the quality and complexity of the wines. The Chardonnay has crisp, clean flavors with bright acid and just the right amount of oak to round out the palate. The Merlot and Cab Franc, though differing markedly in their profiles, both balance fruit and herbaceous notes with flavors from their time in barrel. The Cab Sauv is both big and elegant, but the real star is the Syrah that they've aptly dubbed "Secret Weapon" (maybe we should be thinking about artillery). This wine is rich and juicy but most of all complex with layers of flavors both fruity and savory. The tasting rounds off with a pour of their Exclamation Riesling. This is a lightly sweet Riesling labeled with just an "!" and that's it; fair enough, since you probably won't see any need to elaborate. The tasting space is your standard Woodinville storefront, though a little on the spartan side -- bare concrete floor with a long wooden table pressed into service as the tasting bar -- but it still manages to be inviting. The winemaker and his significant other have been there both times that we've stopped by and they're a real treat to chat with and to have lead you through the tasting. Bottom line: There's some high quality wine making going on at Barrage, and I've got a hunch they're only going to get better and more well known. So, head on over now and you can say you were there before everyone else found out about them and their vino. read more

We did not even get to taste the wine here but I will not be going back. Terrible first impression customer service. We walked into the tasting room to an immediate and brisk question of "are you going to buy anything!?" It was clear that the pourer had been drinking throughout the day. Being our first time there, I wasn't going to commit to a purchase without tasting. After our hesitation on buying, we were told to come back at a different time, as it was close to closing. I would not come back as it was obvious that the employee had been drinking herself and just thought we were there to get drunk. Spoiler alert: we actually care about wine and don't set out just to get drunk. This terrible service and pressure of buying as soon as we walked in will ensure we do not return. There are too many wineries in Woodinville for you to have bad service. Any winery is easily expendable. I will not recommend to my friends. read more

After wine tasting all over Woodinville for the passport weekend, my friends and I were invited to sit at the back patio at Barrage to try their wines. Owners, staff, and other lucky invitees were all super friendly and the wine was a great way to end our day out! It was difficult to choose between buying a bottle of the Trifecta Merlot or the Outcast Cab Franc (I went with the latter). I'll definitely swing by here again for a tasting and can't wait for the right meal to drink my wine with! read more

I cannot speak for the wine here because we were not able to taste it, but the attitude we were given when we happened to stroll in on a "wine-club only" tasting was bad enough to make me never want to visit with them again. After realizing we were a bit after hours for normal wine-tasting, we offered to pay for tastings and possibly buy some bottles, but we were loudly denied by a blond woman who seemed to have been hitting the wine pretty heavy herself. A man was slightly kinder to us, but still pretty much just showed us the door to exit, even though the cellar was still filled with people. It is a shame because the next wine cellar we wandered into, we ended up buying a few bottles and signing up for their wine-club instead. read more
