A quiet little Mexican place full of Culture with a warm, relaxing atmosphere…read more I enjoyed the culture throughout the restaurant displayed through painted walls of Santa Muerte among other things and little idols scattered about the dining. Although this did not hold my attention for the duration of the 1 hour & 45 minute wait before our meals were served. This is my first time eating at this place so i am not sure if this is a usual occurrence and am happy to give it the benefit of the doubt (hence the 3 stars) However i did notice that others were also experiencing long wait times and it was not all that busy. The meals tasted authentic and were enjoyable if not a little underwhelming. Definitely not the best i have had and were rather small in portion sizes than i have come to expect from other Mexican Restuarants. All in all a fine little place but the service and meals did not scrub up to other competitors out there and this really let it down for me. Perhaps this place is not trying to be more than what it is. It seems to me that it would shine mostly for the true authentic Mexican lovers out there rather than the rest of us casual enjoyers of the Mexican Cuisine.

Absolutely delicious!!!…read more Had the seafood burrito, chock full of fish and prawns and cheese toasted to perfection. The rice and salad freshens up the dish. Don't ignore this place on a busy road. It's a tranquil setting inside and the staff are super super friendly. Prices are pretty good. Mexican can be very expensive but $17 for a burrito (a very filling main meal) was good value!

Bipimbap, bipimbap, bipimbap! Did someone say fresh salmon bipimbap? Yes please!…read more I had no idea how amazing this dish is. I love korean food, but for some reason I have never tried a bipimbap. What is a bipimbap you say? Well, it is like a sushi salad without the nori. I guess it is like the Korean version of sushi? So, you have lettuce, sushi rice, cucumber, a hard-boiled egg, fresh salmon (and other options if you wish on the menu), kewpie mayo and chilli sauce. I mentioned to the lovely lady running the store that this was my first bipimbap and was really excited. And what did she do? When my serve was ready she jumped over to my table and showed me how to eat it properly. The idea is to have it mixed properly so the sauces and ingredients are mixed thoroughly. She even mixed it for me! How sweet! She was really excited to see what I thought. I could totally live on this meal. Even though it has Kewpie mayo in it, it is surprisingly light. Maybe it is the addition of the lettuce that freshens it up. I actually love it so much that if I am ever in the area again, I will stop to get one. As for the rest of the menu, the sushi is really fresh and made just before lunch trade. It is rolled in plastic to keep the nori from drying out. This is what a lot of other sushi stores need to learn. So when you eat the sushi the nori is not chewy. The service at this store is really friendly and cheerful. Every time I have been here the owners have been so happy and helpful. It is super busy too, so you might want to get there early if you want a seat for lunch. I know it is out of the way for most, but if you are near Winston Avenue or Goodwood road it is worth stopping by.

Why oh why do I live so far away from you Jin's Bibimbar? Anyone who lives or works near this…read morelovely little restaurant needs to go check it out. My partner introduced me to this restaurant as one of his fave places to go to for work lunch. Bibimbap is a really addictive meal. Especially when you have the option to style it the way you like. In fact, when you order your bibimbap here you are given a sheet of choices for your vegetables, meat & rice. You just tick and choose what appeals to you. You can add extras for little extra cost. But, the meals is super cheap anyway (under $10) and are quite filling. So I guess it depends on how hungry you are when adding extras. For the health conscious, you can choose brown rice or half/half brown & white rice. All of the veggies & meat prepared are cooked to order. So they are fresh! I went for the chicken and a range of veggies. The chicken was cooked with some lovely spices and sauce. Once your meal has been cooked, you can add sauces, oil, seaweed, nuts and have a serving of Kim chi. The trick is to mix it all up and enjoy! This is such a simple and well balanced meal. Nothing complicated in flavour, it is just so yummy. The Korean fermented chilli sauce is what makes it so good. Oh, and I saw on the sign outside that they cater for events. This would be an awesome alternative for a corporate lunch instead of boring sandwiches. I will keep them in mind for catering for sure!

I've been getting what I thought was bibimbap from a sushi bar near my work for a while now. While…read moreit is very nice, I found out that it's not real bibimbap and really should be called a sushi bowl with salad greens. Therefore I've been a bibimbap noob this whole time who needs to try the real thing: Korean bibimbap. Anyway, I was driving near work the other day and saw a place called Jin's Bibimbar on Goodwood Road. I knew that I needed to try this place, so popped in for lunch today. I am really happy that I did, because this place is the bibim-bomb, yo! When I entered the shop, one of the cooks came out and explained how it works. They have a form with check boxes on it that you tick and fill in your name. There are different types of rice or lettuce with no rice, cooked veggies, raw salads and meat/tofu/fish sections. You can pick a rice, 6 veggies/salads and one meat or tofu choice for $9.50 and any extras you add are either 50c or $1.50 depending on what you get. I chose chicken with mixed white and brown rice, broccoli, spinach, bean shoots, mushrooms, seaweed salad, carrot and cooked egg. The egg cost me 50c extra. They then make it up for you on the spot and you can choose your sauces and apply them to your taste. I chose their chili sauce, some sesame oil, kimchi, peanuts and some chili aoli. They also have dry seaweed, and some other Korean sauces that I didn't know. The flavour is amazing and it's a really tasty and filling lunch. I'll definitely be back.

Dear Daisy, I'm…read morewriting this review to you today to let you know that I very much appreciated your hospitality today over lunch. You are so lucky to be set in such a beautiful little neighbourhood, so close to the industrial train lines but tucked away amongst all those cute Goodwood cottages. The cute embroidered chair cushions and large wooden tables was a nice detail you added to my lunch experience. Although your prices are a little bit more than your standard cafe, the choice you provided was great for lunch. And you must have known I'm a fan of an all day brunch too. My coffee was smooth and lunch of citrus smashed avo on rye with smoked salmon and fetta was fresh and zingy. My dining partner's pulled pork bun with potato salad looked lovely too. Thank you for friendly and speedy service. I look forward to catching up again soon. Best wishes, Chloe

Imagine the excitement coursing through my veins when a brand spanking new cafe (with all the…read morehipster/trendy trimmings) opens up 5 doors down from my house, and dearest Daisy, you passed my expectations for a local with flying colours. Dear Daisy occupies the space left by the Leah St Deli and is right on the tram line next to the Forestville tram stop next to the hairdressers. I've popped in and out of here a number of times for coffee and have been most satisfied with smooth flat whites and spicy long blacks and am always pleased with the sparkly service and cheery staff. The menu here is catered to the breakfast/brunch crew (all day breakfast, huzzah!) but Dear Daisy is developing a great lunch menu. The selection features all your standards for brekkie and lunch has a mix of wraps and rolls as well as some great specials (pulled pork buns, zucchini fritters anyone?) and over the past week since its opened I've seen the menu change and evolve. Lunching here I had a pulled pork bun with coleslaw with potato salad on the side, the pork was soft and tender and the potato salad had pickles (yay!) with yumminess all round. Pricing is quite reasonable and on the cheap side for the Goodwood area. Really looking forward to getting round to breakfast here and with 7am opening on the weekdays, I'm thinking a post night duty pick me up breakfast treat is in order!
