So difficult to choose how many stars! The food tonight deserved 5, the service between 1 and 2 and…read morethe atmosphere about 3. So since food is the main reason we go to restaurants, I'm giving it the higher weighting! We enjoyed lamb madras and goat curry, both of which were so succulent. The meat just fell apart it was so tender and both encased in a rich and flavoursome gravy. The meat dishes were accompanied by raita, Dun Aloo, a predominantly potato dish, some kulcha naan (potato, ricotta & spices) and some gorgeous pilaf rice that was cooked with peas, nuts and spices. All delicious. I found the raita to be slightly too runny, but a minor complaint. It was all really wonderful! Not so wonderful was the service. Although the waitress was sweet, she was also quite clueless! Nothing offensive, just inattentive and with a poor grasp of English. Not enough to spoil my evening as the food stood for itself and the company was ace!

When Little India first opened I was excited that we had a local Indian at last, but also somewhat…read moretrepidatious as I had not yet found somewhere that catered in consistently good quality Indian cuisine. I went to the opening night and was instantly disappointed at the lacklustre decor; plain wooden tables, large expanses of artless walls except for the odd token plastic elephant. But I was there for the food and not the decor as takeaway was always an option. The food was (and remains) a sheer delight! The menu is perfectly adequate, containing a wonderful mix of delights from every region of India. Particularly delicious are the huge and crispy onion bahjees, and the Malai Tikka melts in the mouth when combined with deliciously fluffy pilaf rice, complimented by a sweet raita. Since the opening, the proprietors have listened to the comments of a few on Facebook, and the decor is now vastly improved. In the summer months, sit outside by the North Haven Marina, sip from a glass of chilled wine from their adequate selection and watch the pelicans and even the occasional adventurous dolphin! Well worth a visit to beautiful North Haven to sample such reasonably priced cuisine.
