I can not imagine where I would be if I had t been treated by Dr Barone. I have long covid and resulting mast cell activation syndrome and a damaged gut. If you know me, you know that l'm a workaholic. I dedicated countless hours to animals in need. But when it came to me, I lived at least 15 years in pain. With no pain, there is no gain, they say. Please read the negative reviews that all align with my experience at this "clinic." The first visit, the nurse shows the patient around the office, making sure to show off the "shrine" with discarded canes and other mobility devices that previous patients supposedly did not need after being patients at the clinic. Dr. Barone's initial assessment of me was that I must have been in a very bad accident or accidents based on the diagnostic imaging that was done. I was even told that I had exceptionally bad damage to my skull/neck and that must have occurred as a child. (I have had numerous CT and MRI scans of the neck and head due to chronic headaches, and nothing like that even showed up on hospital scans). I later found out that he tells most of his patients this. Dr. Barone focuses only on the atlas vertebrae (the very top one under the skull) and adjust it by tapping on it. He and his team verify whether that particular vertebrae needs an adjustment by having the patient lay on their back and checking to see whether both legs are the same length. They do not bother removing any shoes or winter boots to do so, making such "measurements" wholly inaccurate, as I felt my boots being manipulated on my feet to "show" either lack of alignment or perfect alignment. Each "treatment" took 2-3 minutes and I was proclaimed to be adjusted and cured after each one and reminded to make sure I follow up for maintenance treatment. At the initial consult, I felt coerced to agree to the financial plan and sign a contract (a specific number of visits and adjustments for an exorbitant price that the patient cannot back out of without being harassed by the office and being sent to collections, if the patient chooses to cease treatment). I ended up paying quite a bit of money for services that made zero improvements to my health. Unfortunately, Yelp does not allow users to leave zero stars, so the minimum that I can leave is a one star review. Choose an actual reputable chiropractor (they do exist) and avoid this quack. read more

I would never see another chiropractor as most do not understand upper cervical care which heals the entire body not just where it aches. ** Please read CAREFULLY before considering this firm, ESPECIALLY if you go for a headache/migraine condition. Barone Spinal Care is VERY STRATEGIC in what reviews they want YOU to read. They attempt to 'flag' even mediocre reviews so all you will only see is 5 STAR miracle-type testimonials (Please read the 20+ "other reviews" section at bottom of the page). Also, many of the in-office notebook 'patient testimonials' will border on ridiculous if you fully read thru them all (i.e. one person said they were 'cured of chronic diarrhea'? Another person said their 'bad vision vastly improved'?) To give props -- YES, I am sure many people HAVE been helped, but please read on if you truly want to do your research before making any monetary decisions (just as you would anywhere else you'd give your business), and get ALL SIDES of a story. I went to Barone Spinal Care, on a whim, in Feb 2006, for a severe headache/migraine condition I have had for YEARS (against the advice of my neurologists, who said that although they can recommend alternate therapy for migraines, they just felt cervical chiropractors would not be able to help my condition). However, having a terrible condition and willing to try ANYTHING for some relief, I looked into Barone Spinal Care. I went twice a week (then down to once a week) from February thru August 2006. Not once did my headaches or migraines get even an ounce better. On my first consult, I was given a speech by Dr. Barone that "my life was going to change forever", and "I will be well in a matter of weeks!", and "after I get done with this place, I will rarely if ever have a headache again or need to take those terrible pills." I already knew this sounded "too good to be true" and quacky right off the bat - but again, I will try anything when I am in the kind of pain I have been in for years. I decided to give it a go against my better judgment, and spent upwards of $250 for the first consult and some x-rays. My second consult, Dr. Barone said my x-rays showed "terrible misalignment" in my neck, and suggested that I must have been in a bad car accident or fall when I was younger. I told him I never was to either. He said the x-rays showed this. Now of course I cannot read x-rays, but I did have various cat-scans and MRI's just previous to this (and also AFTER), and I was told by my other doctors that "MRIs and CT scans would have picked up serious neck damage or bone problems if I had that" - and they haven't. I was getting more skeptical, but decided to give it the "4-5 weeks" Dr. Barone said I would need to start feeling results. (*So even the firm cannot say, "well, you didn't give our treatments enough time.") I received weekly, painless adjustments on my neck which many times Dr. Barone and staff claimed I was always "out of alignment." They checked to see if my feet lined up ("the leg test" - Google it. Often debunked.) and most times they didn't. However, most people are out of "alignment" or go out of alignment in their life, and in order to 'stay in alignment' by this firm's standards, you'd need to have NUCCA adjustments - literally - the rest of your life. Weeks became months and I never felt any better, despite the doctors telling me "I had made improvements" and other talk, which after awhile, sounded like your typical political spin. I also found that their 'treatments' are the same no matter what condition or ailment you (or even the people next to you) are there for. I was also tricked into signing a "contract". DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING BY THEM - at least not without reading it FULLY. Even if their treatments aren't working, or you don't like their services, or, you simply wish to see another doctor - you are still locked in for 1 YEAR (they described it "like a gym membership"). And if you stop going, you'll owe back money at NORMAL office cost that you would have paid had you paid 'visit by visit'. However, many people just sign a contract because there are savings and fringe benefits involved. Lastly, they DO NOT ACCEPT any insurance 'up front.' I could see this because they want payment up front either way (whether their services help you or not). Dr. Barone attempted a "nice and concerned" demeanor, but to me he carried himself more like a salesman than a doctor. I must say I did like the other doctors there - Dr. Redinger and Dr. Laneville...however, they are no longer there. (*Not overly important, but I also noticed the office CONSTANTLY went thru front desk and staff changes in just my 6 months there. It seemed every 4-5 weeks there were new girls at the front desk). I never felt any better. In the end, I spent $2000 for services which rendered me no relief. To think of what I could have done with that money. From 2011: Highly questionable. I was waking an exhibit hall about 6 months ago, got flagged down by one of their employees who offered a free consult. Mind you, I have no back pain or issues, but he had a little monitor that indicated I may have problems. I went in, the free consult was really a sales pitch and well - they told me I was out of alignment so I paid a couple of hundred dollars to get an x-ray. Went back for my free adjustment, and it ws not really free - another couple of hundred dollars. But, the adjustment was very mild in touch and then left me in pain! So, i wasn't in pain before, and now I am. Granted they said I should expect this, but it seems counter intuitive. I felt good, now I feel bad. I also got a very uneasy feeling walking around their offices, some really strong bad vibe or negative energy. I noticed another reviewer felt it as well. That is really causing me to question things. The real issue is the high pressure sales pitch and attempt to get me into a 12 month contract. Also doesn't make sense why they would need to push so hard if what they did was of real value. This is my first and I think last visit to a Chiropractor. Update 2019: I just now saw the respond from the Doctor's office. It is completely dishonest. I pay credit cards off monthly and don't ever have any declined charges. I used him in 2012. I believe he's a quack. Just my opinion though. I never got better. My back was always sore and tight. He kept insisting weeks of neck adjustments instead. He said I was "out of balance" for which he said I always needed light C1 position vertebrae neck adjustments. Needless to say, I never got better and left him before "treatment" was completed. I had already prepaid him by then, and thus all that money was down the tubes. My opinion? "Dr" Barone is not a traditional chiropractor. His charges, in my opinion, are excessive and insurance often denies coverage for his brand of chiropractory treatment. Go at your own risk. Find a board certified orthopedic, a board certified neurosurgeon, and/or a physical therapist instead. Keep your general practitioner (family doctor) informed of whatever you do. My one star is based upon opening my mail today and seeing a collection notice bill for $428.70 The part that greatly upset me is that the bill was not in my name as it rightfully should be. But, the bill is in the name of my child who is non-verbal, developmentally disabled and could not read. Then in all of that the calling the collection agency to explain about my child and the idiot on the other line telling me " they would need to speak to my child" WHAT !!!! a speech impaired child who doesn't know how to count or read you wish to speak to? OK !!!!! This amount is for a cancelled check fee of $30 something dollars ( I cancelled my check for pre-pay of $3,470 within 24 hours of the 3rd appointment) + X-rays which I though were in the $27.00 initial special but were not and $68 ( uprated after cancelling pre-pay) for a third visit where I barely spent 5 minutes in the office with her. There is nothing to really justify quality of service received for the $428.70 A bunch of x-rays of my child's head, sweet talking and the sales pitch of are you sure you understand all the charges before you sign several documents about the pay system. I understand the system , it would be a good idea and value to pre-pay your care to save money if there was actual value derived from it. In this case after three visits I did not like the process involved nor do I appreciate having my time wasted. I now compare this after establishing my daughter with a doctor who is a much better fit for her situation who uses our insurance and the bills have never come anywhere near this total. Going into this office with my child is one of the absolute worst mistakes I have ever made and I write this review as a reminder to myself to always check Yelp and search online thoroughly before conducting business with anyone again. I've seen great results and recommend to anyone who suffers from back, neck, shoulder pain, etc. I love that the adjustments are quick and painless and that it's affecting my entire body, not just the area affected. For the last 12 years, I have been a very active woman and certifiable heath nut. I lift and/or run daily, I compete in events like Tough Mudder annually, amid the daily rigor of a full time carreer and the day to day hazards of life. I pay close attention to what I eat, and feel I do a good job of caring for the only body I'll have. Although many friends, coworkers and fellow gymmates often mentioned how much they loved their chiropractor- I had never really taken the time to understand why. I just thought of all the snapping, and uncomfortable twists and pops I had watched on television. That was the extent of my exposure, until I ran into the Dr. Barone at my gym. The initial scan took a mere 2-3 seconds and I was staring at a chart showing my nerve activity, in bright red bars. Red; never a good color. Dr. Barone explained briefly, how improper spinal alignment can be detrimental to someone as active as myself, so I decided to see what he and his staff could do for me. The office was friendly and inviting and despite my initial prognosis of being 'out' or misaligned, I was provided with a plan that detailed how we (myself and the staff) planned to restore alignment. I didn't have a list of pre-existing issues, but I wanted to see if there was another level of health, that chiropractic treatment could help me achieve. FDr. Barone pointed out that my left leg was 3/4" longer than my right. I wasn't going to be ok with that- so I signed up for a plan to correct this dramatic difference. Dr. Barone uses the NUCCA technique, which (thankfully) is a painless adjustment, followed by a 15 minute relaxation for the adjustment to set. My first time though- I really thought it wasn't possibly going to work. I left the office perfectly straight, and didn't feel any different. Hours after, my entire body responded with aches and pains. After years of being out of alignment, all my muscles had become comfortable in the incorrect position! Dr. Barone followed up with me that night. He explained why I was feeling the discomfort, and I understood that it was necessary part of the process of re-aligning my spine. That was the only time that an adjustment caused me any real discomfort. With each visit, I was noticing quite a few changes. Increased endurance while lifting and running, reduction in allergy flare ups, less tension in my back, and something I didn't even list as an issue, disappeared. I had suffered from wrist pain in my right wrist as a result of a break when I was 11. It was such a constant in my life, that I didn't even put it down as an issue to be addressed by chiropractic treatments. I had been living with it for 16 years! Winter seems to cause the worst pain in my wrist, and here we are, amid this crazy winter (2013-2014) and NO pain at all. No pain lifting, writing, stapling, typing.... all the things which previously had caused me agony, now have no negative affect on me. I am three months into treatment, and while I still end up out of alignment, I have full confidence that Dr. Barone and his staff will continue to keep me healing to a healthy straight spine. I was in amazing pain from a tennis related injury. Over time, I did something to my neck and shoulder from hitting too many fast serves. It would be sore after playing but tolerable. One day, I really overexerted myself and started an episode of pain I'll never forget. I could not sit or lay down 24 hours a day without constant pain - there was no comfortable position. I could get an hour of sleep at a time until I would toss or turn and the pain would wake me up. I was popping ibuprofen like they where potato chips just to get through the day. I was hoping it would get better on its own, but it wasn't happening. I hate going to doctors but I needed to do something. I had heard of Dr Barone through a friend and took a chance. It usually takes weeks to get an appointment with a doctor, but they fit me in as an "emergency" right away. The day of the first treatment was the first time I slept through the night in several weeks. It's not like I popped up off the exam table completely fine - but I did have an immediate change that got progressively better day after day. I stuck with continued treatments and I am now continuing to be pain free many months later. The treatment was painless and they explained how they were readjusting my neck. They show you X-rays and scans of the alignment problem in your neck and then they make adjustments. I still don't understand how all this works - but it does. I'm not typically one to leave a testimonial but I will give credit when credit is due. I learned about Barone spinal care at my gym. They had a booth and usually I try to avoid such things but decided to listen to what was being offered. The truth is that I was having sporadic back issues and odd muscle spasms so I wasn't surprised when she told me things appeared to be out of alignment and that I should consider coming into the office for a full examination. I had had other care in the past that helped temporarily so I thought I knew what to expect and was a bit apprehensive about going. After learning a bit more I agreed to go in for care and I'm glad I did. The customer service at Barone is top notch. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. It's a completely different approach to spinal correction. I was apprehensive but decided that my spine is important and proper care wasn't negotiable. I signed up for care and after 2 sessions I could completely tell the difference in my range of motion. I do a lot of dance and it requires flexibility and agility. I have always been able to do the moves but it wasn't always without discomfort. Since I've started treatment I have noticed that there's little to know discomfort and my workouts are a lot better. Initially, I thought I may just be going to through a good period with my spine, however, the result has been consistent. I went here because I was totally desperate and hopeless and I read some great reviews (turns out they flag the negative reviews so a ton of them are hidden). The second I walked in the door I was totally weirded out, they force you to sit down and watch a video about Dr. Barone and then they walk you around and show you all about his glory days (spoiler alert: I don't care). They are so overpriced and we're tying to get me to spend thousands of dollars on a package when they did absolutely nothing. I literally felt nothing and he was acting like he just completed a miracle. He also made my mom feel guilty and was telling me because of something that happened in my childhood I will be messed up forever and if I don't get immediate care from him I'll be paralyzed in a few years. Luckily, I'm not an idiot (even though Dr. Barone clearly thought I was, trying to take advantage of a 22 year old girl with no money and a lot of pain). I would definitely recommend a visit to an upper-cervical chiropractor for anyone experiencing back pain, and especially before considering any kind of invasive back treatment. Besides resolving back pain, having your spine in alignment helps in so many areas that you would never suspect were related to the spine. Dr. Barone has a holistic mind/body approach that supports the treatments, and really resonated with me. I had had back pain years ago and had stopped working out for fear of re-injuring my back. Dr. Barone encourages fitness, and knowing that my back was in good hands, I started working out with light weights, Pilates type core fitness and aqua fitness classes and now I feel better than I have in years. I learned about Barone Spinal care while at my gym. I received a back scan by one of the doctors and the results showed that my back was in pretty bad shape. I am a nurse and have had neck and back pain for a while and thought it was just related to my work. Dear Dr. Barone and Dr. Bulcher, I am 50 years old and I met Dr. Butcher at the Gluten Free Convention in May of 2016. I joking asked him to talk to me about sciatica. I explained to Dr. Bulcher that in August of 2015 I found myself suffering with extreme pain from a sciatic attack. The pain was so intense I could not walk, stand, sit or lie down. The ER prescribed muscle relaxers, nerve relaxers, anti inflammatory and stretching exercises. It took over three weeks for pain and discomfort to disappear. At the time I met Dr. Butcher the sciatica had started to flare back up and I was three days into all the medications again. Dr. Butcher explained to me after scanning my back that the cause of my discomfort may not be from my lower back / sciatica. He suggested an office visit to discuss possible causes. After discussing the possible causes he suggested X-rays to check my neck for alignment issues. At the follow up and review of the X-rays it was suggested I be treated for a dislocated vertebrae in the upper neck. I figured what did I have to lose if it didn't work. I had seen a chiropractor last year and it caused the discomfort to be worst. After my first adjustment I noticed a change. I felt taller, lighter on my feet and it felt like my head was tipping to the other side of my body. I experienced a little vertigo but it quickly went away after resting. The very next morning upon waking up my hips, knees and ankles did not hurt like they had been for last several months. I jumped right out of bed. I felt great. Very little to no pain in my sciatica. I am a 52 yr old very active male that has been suffering from lower back pain for as long as I can remember. If I'm on my feet- especially just standing in one place- for over 30 min, my lower back tightens up. I exercise 5-6 days a week- jogging ~ 3 miles, stepper machine, weights and walking 18 holes on a golf course once per week during summer. The back pain is always there, and although it hasn't prevented me from staying active, it was always in the back of my mind (no pun intended). I'm constantly trying to stretch out my back. I visited another chiropractic facility that focuses on back pain. They prescribed an MRI which showed a slight bulging disc and promised they could improve my situation in 4-6 mos. After visiting 3x per week for 1.5 hrs per session- being put in a tight harness, hung from above and stretched horizontally on a table, I felt slight improvement- but not enough to continue. I met Dr Landholm at the PGA Superstore on Golf Rd one Sat in May (while being treated at the aforementioned practice). She showed me how my muscle imbalance was probably a result of misalignment and was causing my pain. I told her that I would continue with my current treatment for a few more months. Since the improvement wasn't occuring, a few months later I called Dr Landholm and made an appointment. I had never heard of NUCCA but learned a lot in my first visit. It certainly didn't seem that adjusting one vertebra would make that much difference on my lower back. I was impressed with the precision they used in taking x-rays and measuring my vertebrae. Dr Landholm and Dr Barone were confident their procedures would work. I was skeptical but willing to try. After analyzing my x-rays Dr Barone did the first adjustment. I was shocked that it took five minutes and was painless. He asked me to walk across the floor and let me know if I noticed a difference. I did not expect one adjustment to make a difference and I wasn't sure if it did. He said some feel a difference immediately and others take more time. I must say, later that day my lower back pain seemed to subside. Over the last 10 mos the adjustments have been less frequent- in some cases I've gone 4-5 weeks without an adjustment. My back pain definitely has reduced, but it's not completely eliminated. After a round of golf (walking) it is definitely much better than it was a year ago. I am 46 and have been suffering from a recurring pulled back muscle for the last 6 months. This has been detrimental to work and home life. I've thrown my back out a few times over the last 15 years and through traditional chiropractic methods my lower back found temporary relief, but my neck and shoulder pain never were addressed. I would always end the visit with, "maybe next time your neck will move." They were promoting their services at the pga superstore. It is normally around $200 for an evaluation, but i signed up and paid for $25. I figure I would take a chance seems like a great philosophy of spinal care. I came in for the appointment a week later. They showed a video of the history of nucca chiropractic. I was given a tour of the office. The staff and people were friendly and even met Dr. Barone. I was interviewed and talk about my health issues and if they can help. I explained I had some issues with my back, experience random headaches. They said they can definitely help. Dr. Barone then came to the office and briefly went over my chart. He presented me a copy of their treatment charges. He said the first 2 treatments were the most expensive and the rest is much cheaper then asked me to sign. Now, I was under the impression I can then take the time to review and come back if I decide to pursue the treatment. But right after I signed, they proceeded to start the treatment., took x-rays, made measurement of my shoulders, hips etc..Then at the end of my appointment I paid $298 which is the first part of the teeatment. Now I must say i was taken off guard by this and felt this,was a little underhanded. I expected my first day to be the $25 evaluation I paid for but I guess once you sign and agree to the treatment, they start you off right away. I would like give a fair warning for those who are expecting a $25 evaluation, read the list of treatment charges carefully but do not sign right away if you are unsure, because if you do, expect to pay for the treatment the day of evaluation like i did. I decided not to go thru with their program because of financial reasons. I do wish they were not so pushy about signing the long term treatment plan and give their patients more time to decide after an evaluation. read more

The office staff are courteous and the treatments were helpful. BUT, be careful what you sign up for. I will probably NOT receive reimbursements from my insurance because Barone Spinal Care is out of network and I have a high out of pocket. I'm not happy that I am on a payment plan and no longer receiving adjustments because I used up all my visits. So, you guessed it, I am still paying for adjustments and not currently receiving services. I wished that the staff was more up front about how many visits I had left. People are better off not signing up for their packages and paying on as need basis. It comes out cheaper that way instead of them claiming that "You will get a savings of hundreds of dollars if you sign up for our special packaged deal!" Trust me, there is no DEAL here! My mother heard about Dr.Barone on the radio. I really didn't have any issues but his theory re: overall health sounded interesting so I was a patient for a year. Before I signed the year prepayment contract Dr. Barone specifically told me that if I ever thought that their services weren't what I thought he would refund my money so I committed to the year. In each office is a road map with the end of a year the goal. During the year when ever I had pain or discomfort I was told "my body is healing itself". Once I had a very bad neck pain and before I could even describe it I was told yet again "your body is healing itself". I was getting disillusioned with this response and the ever changing staff who saw me for only minutes but were confident in that diagnosis. When I was in for my last visit and noticed that I had hit the magical year on the map and realized that no one had even mentioned it I left the office without being seen. I then called to request the $249 remaining balance of my $3,000 prepayment. I sent emails, called and received no response. After weeks and many attempts someone called back and said since I was now over my year there would be no refund. I asked if they were interested in the reasons I was unhappy and was told Dr. Barone would call me. Of course that didn't happen. I was also told that I could use the remaining $249 in services but imagine my hesitation in going back there. Another life lesson learned. They probably help people and I still believe in his theory but buyer beware. I would have chalked up my experience there to just that if I had been given the $249 back as I was personally promised. read more

I've only been going there since October and I can't believe the difference in my body overall. I couldn't even walk through the mall and now I go to the gym almost daily and I am 57 yrs young! The staff is very accommodating and friendly. If you stick with it, they will help you through. read more
