After checking for tendon damage (had my son move his fingers), he stated that the bandaging the school receptionist had done was pretty good so he should keep them on & come back for a follow-up 3 days later. Me: "Ahhhh...shouldn't you look at how deep the cuts are? The receptionist said they were deep & jagged. What about infection since she only rinsed it with water- no antiseptic." Dr: "It should be ok." Me: "What about stitches to prevent possible scarring?" Dr. "They can make it worse. Come back on Friday" 2 hours later at the Lion's Gate Hospital ER, he gets 5 stitches & a tetanus shot. The staff were wonderful, btw. Now maybe Dr. Jiwani was right about how the fingers should start healing if left alone, but how on earth can he assess them without physically looking at them?! Doesn't make sense to me.

Always asks how I am doing, and is incredibly empathetic and non-judgemental when discussing sensitive issues. I hadn't seen her for 9 years and was looking for a GP for specific…read moreissues that I couldn't resolve with alternative health practitioners, like my homeopathic doctor. I could tell she was angry right away as I walked with her down to the examining room. Her message was short, the rules had changed about how long you could keep a patient's file, so she had to keep my file longer. Her receptionist didn't know any better and had booked me after 9 years absence. If it had been up to her she wouldn't have made the appointment. It was costing her money keeping my file and it wasn't worth her while to open my file again. She was only working with seniors lately because they came for multiple visits. As far as she was concerned I was not her patient. The thoughts going through my head at the time were things like ... boy, is she angry. Isn't she a doctor? I wouldn't want her to be my doctor. I got up from my chair, said goodbye and left.
