I found the lack of concern for continuity of care troubling, particularly after being a patient of the practice for more than two decades. Unfortunately, this experience was not the only factor in my decision to leave. Over the years, I have experienced multiple issues with the administrative side of the practice. There have been appointments where I waited more than an hour to be seen. On another occasion, I was scheduled for an appointment on a day when the office was closed. I have also received a same day call asking me to come in several hours earlier than my scheduled appointment because the afternoon schedule was light. Experiences like these left me feeling that my time and convenience were not always given the same consideration that was expected of me as a patient. When I ultimately decided to cancel my upcoming appointment and requested my medical records so I could transition to another practice, I explained that I wanted to share feedback about why I was leaving. Unfortunately, the response and tone I received left me with the distinct impression that my concerns and my decision to leave simply did not matter. After more than 20 years as a patient, that interaction felt dismissive, which was disappointing. I understand that medical practices have policies regarding prescriptions, scheduling, and medication management. I also understand that unexpected circumstances arise. However, professionalism, communication, compassion, and respect for a patient's time still matter. After more than two decades with this practice, I did not make the decision to leave lightly. That is a huge plus with me because it makes scheduling and keeping track of everything online. My first appointment was about two years ago. I really enjoyed the beautiful decor, soothing tropical sunset color palette set up similar to a spa. Dr. Phillips was great, attentive, timely, knowledgeable. Before I left we set up the appointment for the ablations. I gave my insurance and asked when they would have it verified. They said at least a week before the procedure and that they would let me know. They did not. I called three days before, nothing was done, two days before, nothing was done, the day of, nothing was done. I was asked to sign a waiver and pay for the procedure or I would have to reschedule. No explanation for why the insurance was not cleared. They said they would work on it and let me know. It has now been more than 4 weeks since I was supposed to have the procedure and when I call, I get the same guy, Zach, who knows nothing, clearly could care less and simply tells me there is nothing he knows or can do. I then get a call from a third party who can barely speak English telling me she is in the authorization department and the insurance denied the procedure and that I should provide the doctor with the needed documents...what documents?! This is the absolute worst medical experience I have ever had. No one is accountable, nor do they care or are they helpful, not honest or follow through with what they said they would do. I may as well fly back to my doctor out of state where they care, do their job and are kind and caring. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT and the practice should be embarrassed to provide such poor standard of service.
