I usually don't like writing reviews for places, but the experience I had with my friend and boyfriend was terrible we were being fallowed by at least 4 lady's, being stared down big time, this happened about 4-5 months ago and it's stuck with me to the point I'm scared of going back, I hope you guys can be better because I loved this Barnes & Nobles since I was a kid and it was a safe place for a long time hopefully it will be made that way again with better costumer service. read more

DVDs, Blue-ray Discs, and Vinyl Forget about the books for a minute. I'm more impressed with Barnes & Noble's selection of DVDs, Blue ray Discs, and Vinyl! And it's not about the size - it's about the sense of direction and organization. Everything seems to be going the way of digital these days, but it's still nice to physically own a form of entertainment, like a DVD. Digging through a giant five dollar bin that has been haphazardly stuffed with a hodgepodge of flicks from the past thirty years is fun if you're an archaeologist, but I want a better shopping experience. This Barnes and Noble is a lot like all the others. However, writing a review because we were recently here and the customer service was amazing! They were practicing social distancing and mask wearing but still provided a great level of service. Lines were long and I was browsing some gifts and the lady who was already directing this huge line took the time to tell me where they had a larger selection of similar items (on sale!) and gave us some tips to avoid the line when we came back (hello--you can check out in the cafe!). My Son wants a particular set of Legos for Christmas, Starwars Legos, Hoth or Endor to be specific. How hard could that be to accomplish? Turns out... it's IMPOSSIBLE to find!!!! Seriously though, couldn't find it online, other than one sketchy website that only took paypal & had no reviews (HELL NO!!), went to dozens of stores, no luck! Finally accepting that I've failed as a Mother, I give up my search & go w/my friend to B&N to get her Daughter a book... That's where I was pleasantly greated by Nate R, who asked if there was anything he could help me find. My response... "Don't I wish! But unless you got some Hoth & Endor Legos up in this bookstore, you can't help me". Well guess who SAVED fn Christmas??? That's right, Nate R!!!! He was super patient w/me, showed me all the things (schooled me on what Hoth & Endor even are lol) & helped me pick out my Son's dream present!! Talk about going above & beyond!! After spending a good half hour helping me, Nate took me up to the front & had Sam Railey take over from there. Sam was super sweet, & bubbly & just happy to be there & to help me! You don't see that often anymore, especially in a retail setting. She presented the perfect end to a GREAT shopping experience!!! Thank you sooooo much Nate & Sam! You saved my Son's Christmas!! Saturday August 2nd 2014. Time was about 18:25hrs ish. We came here... purchased 2 bargain books coz it was ON SALE and I like the recipes that they feature in the Cooking Books. Unfortunately, when we spoke to the Staffs behind the CHECK-OUT Counter, Barnes & Noble CANNOT "pre-order" International Books.. They said they don't have the international ordering "capabilities" etc **SIGH** I missed BORDERS!!.. Why OH Why?? BORDERS go under.. Well "blame" it on the Economy?? I would not recommend this store for the simple fact that I was treated rude at checkout by the cashier Derek W. He had an attitude with me and just wasn't nice. After spending over $100 on multiple items he had the nerve to ask if I would like a bag I said well of course! I feel like the workers at this store aren't very helpful. I usually shop on Amazon but I thought it would be nice to go to Barnes & Noble to walk around and browse but I ended up buying quite a few things. I will stick to Amazon read more

Came here to study, set up my things at a table and noticed a ant on the table, no problem I just blew it right off. I got up, went to order my drink at Starbucks and came back to notice the floor was COVERED IN ANTS. It was absolutely disgusting. I couldn't stay for much longer with the idea of ants crawling all over the Starbucks floor and belonging. I looked at the table next to me the 10x the amount of ants. I just don't think they noticed. I gave them a hunch and they were right behind me as i ran out. Lol Sounds dramatic but even if it's a little amount of ants or a lot, that is a health code violation especially where people eat and drink. The picture I posted doesn't amount to how many ants there were, this is just how many were under my table. YUCK. read more

Overall, a typical Barnes & Nobles. Normal selection for the most part. Their military history selection seemed a little more limited than other locations. The biggest issue was the cashier who I think was a manager. My wife literally stood in line for over 15 minutes waiting to buy a single book (we were needing to go to the airport so I was keenly watching the time). There weren't even that many customers ahead of her. Nit sure what the hold up was, but not once did someone else come to help check people out or did the guy page for assistance. He just made everyone wait in line. Some where in line longer than us. This is poor practice at this location. read more

I love this store. I see a lot of people saying they can't get assistance. We go here weekly for coffee and to chill out and I've never been treated rudely in the 10 years we've visited and have always been asked if I need help. And when I do - they've happily helped. Yes Amazon is probably cheaper. And at B&N they will ask if you'd like a membership ($25/year that can be used by family) - but a lot of companies do this and some of us, want the membership. They do ask if you'd like a bag - but a lot of people bring their own bags now and I don't mind being asked, especially if it cuts down on waste and plastic pollution. I can't remember their names but I've bought great gifts based off their recommendations and found treasured stories I wouldn't have. The only thing I wish is that they'd update their store. But they may be limited by the space they are in. No big deal :) read more

This Barnes and Noble location has a cafe where you can eat a proper meal and not just coffee. The prices are reasonable and they also have free wifi for work/school/study. The variety of their non-book selections and offerings are quite diversified. If this was strictly a book store and didnt have all the other things I probably would never come into this store. Its nice to see a store such as this branch out into different fields to keep themselves fresh in this ever changing market. read more

MAJOR downfall: The Starbucks inside, although full of tables and places to sit, has absolutely no power outlets available to plug in your laptop and/or electronic device. It's a great store to kill time. I love to walk around and find books on sale. They have a decent section on traveling, could use a little better selection. My one complaint is they change my favorite section around all the time, tends to get annoying. Staff is always helpful and store is always clean. Hope people keep buying books so they stay in business. read more

Been here a lot before I got my wi-fi service at home. Great place to hang around for free wi-fi. They serve Starbucks drinks there, so that's pretty awesome if you ask me. One big reason for my minor dislike of this place: not enough sitting area with outlets to plug in my laptop. There's pretty much only one place with it right next to the chairs and table. They should add some at the cafe area. That only make sense. (1 star off for that) read more

Would give more stars but the last time I was here my boyfriend and I were followed around the store by an older gentleman working for the book store who was tall, heavier set, Caucasian, and balding! I understand we came in last minute before closing and I was zooming around quickly to try to find my books and quickly get out of their way so they can do their closing operations but in no way did I think our tactics would warrant an employee to assume we were stealing or up to no good and follow our very move! He didn't even ask if we needed help but one time and then just continued lurking! I Spend a lot of time and money here but because of this discrimination I will probably not be back for a while and just head to the location on Sheridan instead! read more

I have to say I'm so disappointed in this company because I feel like I'm putting the associates out for asking them something when I need help. Most times I can never find someone to help me and end up just purchasing what I want from Amazon or the online store. Would also like to note the poor management concerning hiring new people. I've applied there many times because they are ALWAYS hiring for people. Needing all this help. Yet when going to interview they tell you the position was pretty much filled after making you wait past appointed time. They'll even interrupt you to pay attention to some random person walking around. I'll order my books from the future and save myself the disappoint of going into the store. If Borders was around I would have recommended you go to them instead. This company isn't what it used to be. read more

I have really enjoyed coming into this location to just browse and hang out. The staff is really friendly and were super helpful when trying to locate two of the books I was looking for. I've always enjoyed book stores and this one is no exception. It has a large selection and they offer to order anything that's not in stock (free shipping to the store). Amazon may be cheaper, but I love actually holding a book in my hands before buying it. I'm old fashioned that way. The only (minor) issue I've had with this store is that sometimes it seems understaffed. But if I wait a bit at the main info desk, soon enough I'll be helped. Overall, an excellent store. read more

I come here pretty often while my daughter is in class. They have a Starbucks but it is not Starbucks? You cannot use your Starbucks card to pay. I thought it was important to mention this since I hear customers upset biweekly since they can't use their Starbucks card. My only beef is I like decaf because one it's usually in the evening and two I'm old. However they never seem to have it brewed so I either get asked if I want a Americano (which is decaf espresso) or if I can wait. read more

This location is closest to my house, yet I'm constantly forced to go to the location on 92nd & Sheridan because this one never seems to have anything in stock! I rarely go here to just look around, rather I have a specific book in mind and go to pick it up just to find out they don't have it. But they're always happy to tell me that the Sheridan location carries it. I'm left wanting to say "why don't you ever have anything in stock?!" Now I check online first before going in the store and so far I've saved a lot of gas by doing that. Seriously, why does this location exist?! read more

I love getting lost in a Barnes and Noble for the day, this place has a lot to offer. I was dumb enough to buy a membership here and never really used the benefits that they had to offer. Only because I am cheap and I end up buying my books on Amazon.com for 1/4 the price. I don't recommend the Starbucks in this shop though, they don't do the membership cards and the scone I bought tasted like a crunchy rock. Seems a pretty good B&N location; the staff was friendly enough (though the checker tried to talk us into their membership program a little firmly even after we said we weren't interested at the time) and the layout was good. Everything was easy to find, and in true bookstore fashion, we had to leave quickly lest we walk out with half the store in our arms and a deepening pile of debt in our bank accounts. We came in to check specifically whether they had a copy of the Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien, which they did (albeit only one at the time). They also had multiple editions of the Lord of the Rings and a couple of the Hobbit, which I'm sure is due to the popularity of the movies recently, but it would have been nice if they'd stocked up on the other related titles (the Children of Hurin, the Book of Lost Tales, et cetera) as well. Still, since they had everything we were looking for specifically, I can't fault them too much. I'm unsure why, but the entire parking lot smelled of burnt toast, which was odd because there's not really any restaurants in the area. I think this location might have one of the wee bookstore cafes, where perhaps some muffins had been over-toasted, but we couldn't discern the location of the origin of the smell. It wasn't a detractor, unless you were the poor slob with a blackened muffin alongside your cup of coffee and whatever book you were reading that wasn't a lesser-known part of Tolkien's minutae. read more

Not my favorite B&N location. The only section I found to be adequately stocked was the cookbook section. Atmosphere is humdrum.

I love this location and come here frequently. However, there are neither comfy chairs, nor power outlets for customer use. That being said, the employees of both the bookstore and cafe are knowledgable and very helpful. I am especially impressed by the children's department selection and organization. Although, the baby changing table is unusable; it is so old/damaged that it doesn't open flat. read more

Customer Service is deplorable. My daughter received a craft kit for her Birthday in May (it's now November) & she just opened it to make the craft & discovered that it was ruined & unusable. Someone had clearly opened it (the clay was open & dried out, the molds had been used) & returned it. We had a gift receipt so I stopped by the store w/ the receipt & explained what we discovered. They said it was too late to do anything & I asked to speak to the manager who iterated the same thing. I understand that it's been some time, but I don't think it's unreasonable that a child wouldn't open a gift like this immediately. So they won't allow an exchange w/ a gift receipt, but they obviously accepted a return on a used craft & then resold it. read more

When I arrive, turns out that she accidently pulled a different format, and despite the computer system stating that a Blu-ray copy existed there, she couldn't find it in the store, making my trip 45 mins out of the way worthless. This Barnes and Noble has a great selection for books and as well as movies. I love Japanese anime and the have a good selection from movies to TV series. The customer service is great but they always try to push the membership on you that costs 25$ a month I believe. And I love how the Starbucks in the store has a cafe with food not just sweets! read more
