You know what is uncool? A cashier shaming you for your reading choices. You don't get to say the phrase "we don't judge here" and be automatically cleared to openly judge and make accusing, degrading comments despite a customer's clear discomfort. Going to the bookstore is a fun, rare treat, one that is ruined when I had to sit in my car and cry it out at the end. Do better. Just because you don't like the book doesn't mean someone else doesn't get to try it for themselves. Guess I will return to purchasing all my books online from other retailers. read more

I used to be a pretty faithful customer but now they lay the sales on so thick that I can't stomach going in there unless I absolutely need something now and can't wait for amazon to ship! Oh Barnes and Noble my favorite store that has ever existed. If it was allowed it would live in this store and never leave. I would happily spend my life browsing, reading, and sipping pumpkin spiced lattes. I would gladly pay rent and I could pick up after myself also! All kidding aside this is a wonderful store. Now leaving out my obvious love of books I rate 5 stars to this store especially. I love the layout and ease in which I can browse and find the literate I am looking for. The selection is outstanding and I love the reduced price clearance section. Please never change the layout! I have been to other stores that have felt cluttered and this has the perfect balance. Along with the great products, the staff is very good at assisting their customers. They have a good balance of knowing when a customer has a question and knowing when we don't. Very lovely. Typpical Barnes and Noble. Plenty of books, CDs , DVDs and toys now. Parking can really suck at this location. Chillis can really take up a lot of the area. Getting out on 41st can also be difficult. read more

My experience at Barnes & Noble in Sioux Falls was very disappointing. The customer service team was very rude. From the employees at the cafe, to the staff at checkout. There were a few employees who even followed me around and kept asking how I was doing. It was a very odd and creepy experience. I don't remember her name but she had dark hair and glasses and wore like a green dress of some sorts. It was very uncomfortable and it made me want to leave. The cafe staff was rude as most cafe staff are. They clearly had no joy in their work whatsoever, at least pretend it? Finally, the check out staff is just obnoxious. The downfall of Capitalism lies within the store. Just calm down and stop asking me about gift cards and a membership. When I joined the membership, they didn't tell me it was $20 so it was a huge huge huge waste of money. Barnes & Noble is just ridiculous. read more

Great service and helpful employees. Also use Nook tablet saves space on books though I still get hardback and paperback books.

Average Barnes and Noble here, Kinda hard to find the outlets(they only seem to be in the corners of the bookstore), but they had all the essential reads and the always excellent starbucks built into it. About as average as they come. read more

Average B&N. Starbucks in the store has bad service. I had a gift card. They would NOT except the STARBUCKS GIFT CARD! The girl said they takes Barnes and Noble cards only. WTF? So we went across the street. I'll come back for books, but I'll bring my own coffee. read more

Most of the workers are friendly, and there are lots of books to choose from. Nothing beats a bookstore.

I purchased a book from Barnes and Noble because they are supposed to be a reputable company. Five minutes after ordering I realized I had not purchased the book I wanted but a CD. I called to cancel the order and was told I could not because it had processed already and would have to wait until it arrived and then return it at a store. I attempted to return the item the day it arrived in the mail. Barnes and Noble refused to allow me to return the item and said I had to contact the seller. Not only did I receive an item I did not want, it arrived used and broken due to poor packaging. Barnes and Noble told me it wasn't their problem because they didn't sell it. I purchased the item from THEIR website. How are they not responsible at all? They refuse to assist me in any way. The seller has no contact information that I can locate and Barnes and Noble says it is out of their hands. Why does Barnes and Noble continue to allow this company to sell items on their website? Who supports the customer in this situation? read more

I used to love going there, but now I can't check out without them trying to rope me into buying a membership and then attempting to make me feel like an idiot for declining. In addition, today after having to listen to the usual spiel, the cashier tried to also get me to buy a book for some needy bookless child somewhere. I said, "No." That should have been the end of it, but the cashier then asked, "No?" She questioned my decision! She then tipped her head to the side and stared at me in an attempt to make me feel like the scum of the earth. I then felt compelled to explain to this rude cashier that it was my slow time of year and that I don't have a lot of discretionary funds, etc. I should not have to explain that to a CASHIER! That was over-the-top unprofessional behavior on her part, and as of today I am officially done with Barnes and Noble. I had ordered a book that they didn't have, but I have just called and canceled my order. I plan to get that particular book, and all books in the future, from Amazon.com. read more

This store has poor service and disgusting bathrooms. Once, when I tried to check out, I was ignored by not one but two employees behind the counter for an entire minute. When one of the employees walked past me without even acknowledging me, I put my book on the counter and left. And just the other day, I had the displeasure of visiting their ladies' room. The walls were filthy, the paper towels were in a heap on the counter (which was covered with water and soap), and one of the toilets had poop on the seat. I've seen cleaner gas station bathrooms. read more
