I love this Barnes and Noble. The customer service is always amazing and I'm constantly greeted with a smile from the employees. Love the many different recommendations of books I'm given by cue cards on the bookshelf or personally from an associate. The variety of books is bound to make you go crazy in the best way. The quality of the books I've seen are kept in pristine condition and I love that it's also not too noisy inside. The Book Annex is a great place to get books of great value on sale for a cheap price! I especially enjoy coming here to get work done, to discover a new book/author, and see what the latest buzz is all about. Book worms unite! read more

First, it is a Barnes and Noble bookstore, if you don't know about them you were likely born after 2009. I have always found this B&N to be reliable and have helpful people. You don't always get a "value" but you pay for the help and large inperson selection. I hope they keep rolling. Also, the audio visual area is sad with records, really expensive Criterion Collection movies or inexpensive dvds. Great place to find a new book and the kids selection is wonderful. read more

I had a great experience at this bookstore on Christmas Eve, of all days! I was helped by at least three different employees, while there were at least 50 customers feverishly shopping for last minute Christmas gifts. It's nice that a bookstore with a coffee shop exists, and it's even better that it's super nice, well stocked, and staffed with personable employees. Parking is easy, it's worth stopping in to get a special coffee before shopping other places in the complex (TJ Maxx, Kroger, Michael's, REI, and more). It's neat that a place like this still exists and the location is excellent. Tip - access at the light off of 6 mile near the church. So easy. read more

Larger store with a good selection of books, magazines, cards, and music especially if you like albums. If you are looking for a LEGO kit for kids of all ages, you will love the selection. Good service with easy to find help. You can go to the service desk or just look in the stacks. Always have enough at the registers. The cafe has a limited choice of sandwiches and dessert but really needs to keep more diet pop choices. But if you like coffee or that type of drinks you will get what you want. Lots of parking and easy to get to from the west side suburbs. My go to place for gift cards, books, cards, and paranormal decks. read more

I am so appreciative to still have a brick and mortar bookstore that carries so many genre of books, magazines, music, children's items, and pop culturally relevant toys with a nice cafe. We spent a great afternoon at the cafe having good coffee and good desserts. Barnes traditionally carries the Cheesecake Factory sweets, and they did not disappoint. We had a funfetti cupcake, chocolate cheesecake, and cheesecake coffee cake, all really fresh and delish. We drank the traditional Barnes Starbucks. The baristas do not tend to be as well-trained as at a Starbucks, but the drinks were pretty good as well. The cafe was busy and bustling, which is a good thing, I want to keep store like this afloat in the digital era. The store itself has a nice selection for books. I also like their discount selection, and tons of nick knack gifts. We often spend a lot of time and money at bookstores, so we like to come to this location for gifts and goodies. The employees were very helpful and pleasant, approaching often to see if I needed anything. The store is clean and well lit. I believe they occasionally have fun themed events. read more

Coffee shop gals constantly playing with hair then put hand in your dish. no washing no gloves. Cups are handled on the top rim.. So make sure to get a lid. Generally gross. I purchased eight (8) items, several were small and was honest to goodness asked "Would you like a bag?" I'd already mentioned I was going back for coffee and now wonder if I would have been stopped and asked about my handful of items walking out the store without a bag? I paid for a product online to pick up in store, because this was one of two locations in a 100 mile radius that had the book I needed. This store is an hour away from me, and so 45 minutes into my hour long drive, I called the store to let them know my estimated arrival time was 8:02 due to traffic and they told me that they could not allow me to pick up my already paid for items because they "can't stay open after 8". I literally worked for a Barnes and Noble location, and am aware that this is not the policy. They also told me they couldn't cancel my order for me. Strange vibe when you go here the staff will follow you around like your going to steal something. You will get asked for help 2 to 3 times from staff or they will sneak up on you if you are reading something.l and scare you with another question. But the weirdest thing lately so their so called "book bag shortage". It starts at the register and the check out woman will inform you of a book bag shortage. You will have to fight for your paper receipt too. If giving out a paper receipt and a plastic book bag bothers them so much these people are in the wrong industry. Books are made from dead trees... Think about it for a second. These people should be in the ebook business. And they shouldn't be occupying a building that uses electricity and other precious resources. Always ask for a bag and ask for your paper receipt. This needs to be reported to corporate. Maybe these earth conscious egomaniacs need to be replaced by computers like at Walmart. Hello happy place! Every bibliophile knows that heart flutter you feel when you visit the bookstore. Of course, there are plenty of places where you can find better deals on books but you can also get some great deals here at B&B. I love how well organized this brand is. I CANNOT leave without purchasing at least one item, be it book or collectable. One thing I love to do is take my to read list and pull out a few from the shelves. Next, I'll grab a drink from the Starbucks, take a seat in one of the sofa chairs, and read a few pages from each book. This always helps me narrow down my list, and of course enjoy more time in a book oasis. read more

It is weird how the employees follow you around and ask if you need help nonstop. It does make you feel like they think you're going to shoplift or something. I like to browse and be left alone and have quiet when I go to the bookstore, if I need help I will go up to the help desk. I'm not a fan of how they've rearranged all the sections in the store. It doesn't really make any sense and there's some areas where you get stuck in a corner with no way out. I went in here tonight and the employees were so loud in the cafe it was obnoxious. Shouting to each other and just talking super loud, it was hard for me to concentrate. You could hear them half way through the store. Some of the employees on the floor talk super loud too. I know it's not a library but I like a bookstore where you're able to concentrate while you're looking for books. read more

This Barnes & Noble is so close to where I live and it has been my favorite place to go for a chill evening with a book or a place to study for as long as I can remember. The cafe is perfect to sit and get some work done or just hang out and sip on a Starbucks drink. The workers are so nice and cheerful and always happy to help out! They're very knowledgeable about books and are always checking in if I need anything. The store is clean and well organized and it's always buzzing with people which makes it lively. They have nice comfortable chairs to sit on and curl up with a bunch of books and you can spend hours there if you want to. I'm too cheap to be a new bookstore person. If I am going to go that route I usually try to avoid a chain. These days though they are becoming a dying breed, the big bad chain bookstore. It almost feels rebellious to shop here, take that Amazon, you have made a once retail giant seem like an underdog to champion. I have spent many a lazy afternoon browsing here then finding one of their numerous little nooks (sorry for the pun) to while part of the day away reading for free. Yes I am that kind of cheap. Not to say I haven't bought my share but I have gotten plenty of happy freebie time. I love that no one bothers you, the staff are super helpful if you approach them but other than that they leave you to your greedy solitude with nary a tsk tsk at your bold as brass scamming type antics. I have also slurped up plenty of the Harney and Sons teas they dole out at the Starbucks inside. Bought tins of the tea pyramids there to go too. I can easily waste away a half day and if I get hungry I will just buy some sweet snack to go with. I can justify it because hey I'm getting gratis reading. At Borders they would've called me on being the freeloader I am. Yep I need to go back to this lovely B&N. It has been a minute (or two) apart from my old and generous friend. This is for the cafe/bakery: They are incompetent and unorganized. Don't ever order a cheesecake from them and expect to get what you ordered. Here's the story: Bought a cd, was given a coupon for $10 off a whole cheesecake. Sweet! Went to place order a week before I needed it for a birthday party (as recommended). Lady before me in line was picking up an ordered cheesecake, and there was a problem with her order. Didn't think anything of it. Placed said order with time of pick up, type of cheesecake, and instructions for them to thaw the cheesecake (since they come frozen). Fast forward to day of pick up, they were confused, couldn't find my order form, when they did and eventually brought out the cheesecake, it wasn't even the right kind! Had to wait more for them to go find one in the freezer of the kind ordered. No apologies, sorry. Just dazed and confused 20 somethings. NEVER order a cheesecake from them! read more

I've always been an avid reader. I love books, and books love me. Browsing in B&N is a great pastime. The Orchard Lake location closed, and it was my favorite. I ordered a book that my, Physical Therapist ask me to buy for my at home treatment. I went to B&N, hoping to find the book there. I had to have the book shipped to me, as they did not have the book in stock. It would be a week before I would have the book. I waited nine days before calling the store, at that time, I was given a tracking number. When I checked the tracking information it showed that the book had not left the warehouse. When call called the store backed I was told it would be seven more days before I may receive the book. I explained to the person on the phone that, I needed the book for physical therapy. She then explained that they thought they would have the book and that she was sorry. I asked to speak with a manager. A woman came on the phone after a short wait. She said she understood what the problem was and she ask me to hold on because her computer was moving slowly after about two minutes the call dropped. Mind you they had my number and it seems that they think this is the way to do business. read more

This was 5 minutes away from my old house so I defiantly loved that! I loved this B&N for many reasons: - the staff was helpful and knowledgeable (but also knew when to let me just browse) - I was able to just take some books, sit down, and just read to see if I wanted to buy them without being judged - they had many midnight releases for Harry Potter I went to here and they put on a good time - the store is clean and layed out in a eye pleasing manner - the music section is in the back of the store and the magazine area is over to the far side of the store which is good for organization - selection was good and they were open late which was nice since nothing in the area is read more

I'm not going to lie. I am a little surprised a store of this size requiring so many staff, infrastructure, etc can survive in the world of Amazon and digital libraries. That being said, I also have a certain nostalgia for bookstores and browsing through actual books (even if I read 95% of my "for fun" books via kindle now. Anyhow, in terms of the store itself, it is large, clean, reasonably quiet, with abundant parking. Prices are as you would expect. The cafe is also large with ample seating. Perhaps reflecting the demographic or perhaps as an intentional move on Barnes and Noble's part, they have exactly zero electrical outlets in the whole cafe. Apparently people wanting to sit down and work on something on their laptop are not really a priority- that is too bad as I bet students, young professionals etc, would come to study/work at the cafe and that would probably drive a little business in terms of book purchases. I wanted to be able to come and sit down to do work or study but alas, it wasn't to be. read more

Words can not describe the love I have for the Barne, but for the sake of Yelp, I will do my best! Even before I moved out to the area, I had been coming to B&N because their selection was always a bit more on the eclectic side than Borders. I love strolling the aisles, seeing the latest and greatest they have in there and since they change the displays, it's like going to a new store every week or so. I always find some new treasure. The staff has always been helpful to me and very friendly, looking up whatever obscure book title I throw at them. And ordering online is so easy to do and they usually send you a confirmation within an hour, letting you know you can pick up your item in the store. Fabulous! The video section is the best that I have encountered because of their large selection of British television shows. (+25 stars for that alone.) I LOVE this store so much for many reasons (including the coffee and scones) and I love spending hours at a time there. I love bookstores more than almost anything and going to a used bookstore makes my heart swell with joy. But used bookstores are best for adventures and going in with no clue what you want to bring out. If you are looking for something specific, going to Barnes and Noble is a great bet that you will find what you are looking for. This bookstore is large and has a vast variety of different books, cds and even movies. I will say that they are ridiculously overpriced on numerous items unless you get yourself a membership, which does cost money. Otherwise, I love buying records from them and I usually find a great new book to purchase each time I go in. I definitely have a problem not buying something each time I go here! read more

I normally go to this little used bookshop because it is a LOT cheaper and makes me feel like I step back in time when I shop there but barnes and nobles literally has everything and I always get excited and overwhelmed with all the books! The staff is friendly and helpful especially since I always need help finding a book and when its not in the store they will help you order it to save you the hassle of having to do it when you go home. I stopped in here looking for books for my niece's birthday. Store staff was helpful in finding what I needed (Daisy Meadow fairy books). Like always, I stopped to browse the vinyl collection and biographies. There are always a million books I want to read, at least 35 at home on my shelf I haven't read yet, and my budget says STOP BUYING BOOKS!!! I've been to this store for years and they have a huge selection of books! However it can be difficult to find something, there are some books they usually don't have in stock.
