This Barnes and Noble store was closed but it has reopened!! I'm so happy they're back! There's so many books, magazines, toys, journals and calendars! The store has been remodeled and renovated! No more stale musty smell, now it smells new and the whole store is bright! Staff are walking around the store asking customers if they need help. Now that's what I call great customer service! All items are reasonably priced. I will come back and get one of the candles that smell so good! Thank you Barnes and Noble for reopening your store! You were greatly missed!

One of two Barnes & Noble in Long Beach, this location in the Pacifica Marketplace was a good place to stop in to browse and see what new books and media are out. It was recently remodeled in 2025, reopening recently in November. They did a nice job, with plenty of light and well organized sections besides just books. Didn't have any intention to buy anything, but ended up getting Christmas gifts.

This Barnes & Noble location has been closed for months for remodeling and I was excited to hear they just reopened. I came for their soft opening and was quite a bit disappointed. The biggest change was the downsize, it used to be two floors and now it's only one floor so everything is crammed together. Not as spacious as before, it's like walking in a maze and you're easily bumping into people and things. There's no more Starbucks, no bargain section, and less variety/selection than before. Overall, the renovations look nice and I'm glad they decide to keep this B&N location, but if you want more variety, it's better to go to the LB Towne Center location instead.

It's nice to see that this bookstore chain is hanging on and providing a place where folks can still browse and immediately purchase a book. This location, located in the Marina Pacifica plaza, is fairly good sized with two floors of books (also magazines, cards, and small gifts). The books are well organized with the different sections well labeled. I came looking for some sort of dinosaur book for my young nephew who is going through his dinosaur-crazed stage. I found the children's section downstairs where there were quite a few dinosaur books to choose from. I picked a huge book full of every known dinosaur which was so heavy it could be used as an anchor for a container ship. Once my mission was accomplished, a quick glance around the children's area surprised me as far as questionable advertising. Checkout is located on the upper level. After paying, the person at the counter didn't provide a bag and was oddly reluctant to give one once I asked. No matter, I had my book, mission accomplished.

"Welcome to your life... There's no turning back..." You're in the Marina Pacifica's Barnes & Nobles and you're going to rule the world! This spacious beyond well stocked Nobles is very inviting in energy, lighting and it's incredible staff. I often forget that the Barnes offers quite a bit including greeting cards, board games, collectibles, fun finds, trading cards and so much more. I came in with my date Phil after we finished Barbie at the AMC just a beat left of this great location. He wanted to get a book for a close friend for their birthday and also a card which they had some clever ones I'd come back and stalk up on for all occasions... Even ones for divorce... break ups and quitting your job lol The candles they carry (yes they have candles) are completely outrageous in price, but of incredible quality... Was definitely tempted to buy a $40 Pinot Noir scented one but then I remember myself and the fact that I have more than a dozen candles at home (not including and endless collection of tealights)... It smelt so good though!! I didn't plan on getting more than one thing for myself (if that) as we came in to shop for someone else plus continue a great date... Like who knew Barnes and Nobles could be so date worthy.... with their amazing Starbucks, escalators on each side descending into their lower level of more books, music, movies and more. The escalator going down wasn't working at all we took it down like a staircase, but we still walked down it (always have a mini fear of them just restarting mid steps and me falling on my butt exclaiming something outlandish hahaha... NOT TODAY escalator). The elevators aren't in the most convenient location however they do work great. Exploring both the upstairs and downstairs isles, displays and end-caps... I ended up with an arm full of goodies including three new books. The Barnes & Noble Collectible Editions are amazing... Obsessed with the lettering/font, colors and more Art Deco style covers. High praise to Luke and Emma, who were both amazing! Emma was super friendly on the sales floor and behind the counter. Thanks for ringing me up and going above and beyond! Luke was one of the other B&N Marina Pacifica Crew I interacted with, great energy and super helpful as well with helping me update my Barnes & Noble Membership. Which I guess my number wasn't attached to (just my email), but is now with an update. Overall an amazing experience with quality assistances from all including the kind guy who made sure everyone was helped in the Music & Movies (also includes Documentaries and TV series) section which had some surprising great deals on select item including records. They have a register in Music & Entertainment but prefer for you to make all purchases upstairs, at least they did over the weekend. You can see some docked boats that lead to Alamitos Bay and beyond behind Barnes and Nobles which I love, really pretty at night. This is officially in my top 5 favorite Barnes & Nobles Bookstore locations in LA County. Can't wait to come back!

I love entering into a different world of books! It have escalator and elevator and many sections to roam around. Felt like I'm in a film The Librarians who need to protest magic books. Staff is helpful. I enjoyed our book date here, Can be here for hours and hours looking at gift, reading some pages of books, coffee smell next door, so tempting to go!

I stopped in for what I thought was a quick purchase, but I ended up spending 2 hrs here. I love the selections and to browse the Annex section for cool discounted books and other things. I actually found what I was looking for here and it was only $12 (half off ) The lady at the register was so pleasant. She offered me a membership only for me to find out I already had one (totally forgot that) she explained how it worked and patiently answered all my questions. I will absolutely return.

First off, I love the diversity of books, cool merch, and welcoming store. I love how it is Filipino-owned, and they feature books that highlight our society's differences. Plus, you can actually meet the owner, which is a plus. She is amazing and super friendly. Most book stores can be a bit expensive, but not here. Prices are great. The store itself is a bit small, so on busy days/nights, it can get pretty crowded. It is worth the visit. Lastly, this is another bookstore that I can check off my list. Really cute with a great selection of books with cute decor. Make sure to pick up one of the cute bookmarks or tote bags she sells because they are pretty cool.

There is definitely the appearance of organization here. Biography is labeled in this section, military is over here, mystery over there, and so on. But while you probably will find some Agatha Christie in the mystery section, which makes sense, you will probably also find some Christie over in fiction. It is the same with other authors. I don't know if this is the store's doing or whether customers are shifting books around intentionally or otherwise but it is a little maddening at times. Most serious book hunters, especially those found rummaging through dusty used bookstores like yours truly, don't mind spending extra time looking for books. The hunt is part of the fun. They have some real gold nuggets here, if you spend the time. Also, speaking of gold nuggets, although Western is probably not the most popular genre these days, the Western section here is one of the larger ones I have ever seen. This store is well worth a visit. I found nearly all the prices to be extremely reasonable. Free and easy street parking all around. The counter fellow, who may have been the owner for all I know, was a real character and very pleasant.

I love the iconic, inviting Once Read Books in huge blue letters on the building. I enjoy the layout of the shop and how it feels like you can hide and get lost. There's a pleasant muffled bookstore hush. The man behind the counter is nice. Pricing seems fair. All good elements, I just think the book selection, decor, and tidiness could be improved. Ideas: Expand the kids section and add more board books Include more recent titles in the fiction and cooking sections Try to keep popular authors in stock (couldn't find any Stephen King) Cute new chairs, especially in the kids section (love a bookstore with chairs) New rug in the kids section Clean up the random boxes of books near the counter Update the genre and author signs Anyway, even with all that, it's still fun to browse here. If you're looking for older titles, magazines, etc., this is definitely a place you should hit up.

Loved the special deals they offered that day and having the chance to listen to a few bands over the course of the day (and get some merch signed!). I think their old store was better for listening, since there was a clear area for the audience--in the current store, we were tucked between shelves of merchandise--but it still worked and we had no problem seeing or hearing the bands. I particularly enjoyed seeing Violet Grohl and her band that day. Dave Grohl was there, but as a member of the audience. It was fun rocking out with him to his daughter's tunes (even if he was a couple of rows away). Love the staff. Rand, one of the owners, in particular, is incredibly knowledgeable. He also does a great job of lining up events and bands. We had such a great day at Fingerprints!

I've attended countless signings and performances, and I buy a vinyl there almost every month to keep growing my collection. As an LA native, I grew up going to the original Amoeba in Hollywood and continued shopping there after they moved to their current Hollywood Blvd location. I've always appreciated the events they host, and when I moved to LB, Fingerprints felt like LB's version of Amoeba because of its incredible lineup of signings and performances. Since moving to their new Bixby Knolls location, the event experience has taken a step backward. The new space isn't designed to accommodate the crowds these events attract. They proudly increase the vinyl prices for these events to pay for staffing these events while admission continues to be oversold. The result is an experience that feels more focused on maximizing attendance than ensuring fans can actually enjoy the event. I attended the Charli XCX Q&A yesterday, and the stage was so low that I couldn't see anything. Within two minutes of the event starting, I requested a refund because the room was clearly over capacity. Unless you were around 5'6" or taller, the only way to see Charli was through other people's phone screens. When I asked for a refund, the employee handing out vinyl records told me, "Well, it's a Q&A. The whole point is to listen." I respectfully disagreed. Seeing the artist is part of the experience, especially at an in-person event, but my refund request was denied. Even if the focus was solely on listening, the experience still fell short. Employee phone notifications were constantly going off and the front door opened every few minutes as employees loudly turned away customers because it was a private event, and outside street noise frequently overpowered the conversation. At times, I could hear phone notifications and traffic more clearly than Charli herself. I think Fingerprints hosts some of the best artist events and I want to see them succeed in their new location. The event setup needs to improve- a raised stage, better crowd management, clearer policies on phone usage, and limiting attendance to what the space can comfortably accommodate would go a long way toward creating an experience that matches the quality of the artists they bring in.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone with enough guts and conviction who opens a bookstore, deserves an award. But what makes a truly important and significant bookstore? Community is important. One that serves its area and brings people together. And to do this, it takes focus. Unless you're amazon, you're going to go broke in a hurry trying to please everyone at your bookstore. So what should we focus on? Maybe something everyone has a connection to, like FOOD. Which brings us to Kitchen Lingo. Hidden in plain sight on the 4th Street Corridor in Long Beach, sits this eclectic and well curated slice of culinary paradise. It is entirely without pretense. Selling both attractively well priced used books and current titles by today's most relevant food authorities, there is something for every reader. And as I sit here writing this, I look around and realize that my wife easily owns enough cookbooks to open up her own bookstore but somehow always seems to find something she needs when we visit. But let's go back to community for a moment. There is always something being planned at Kitchen Lingo. A food demonstration, an author event, etc.. I even noticed that there is a Cake Picnic coming up in June. Of course these are all things that bring people together and create value. This is no accident. Kitchen Lingo's owner, Matt Miller is no stranger to food and its preparation. Having spent years in the trenches, his knowledge of food is extremely deep and he's very easy to talk to. He also usually has a few tricks up his sleeve too. Like good coffee beans to use as a rub or a hot tip on an amazing olive oil. And when all is said and done, he is truly the greatest part of Kitchen Lingo. We should all feel grateful having someone like him supporting food culture in our area. And maybe until he gets his award for opening a bookstore we can all just keep buying lots of books from him. That should help at least a little;)

The biggest W, I've ever gotten were rare, affordable visual novel series items from the one in Riverside, but for the anime section for here, it's not the best. There are some rare goods, like a Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun figure, but the prices are a bit atrocious. For example, an FGO Abigail Williams prize figure that goes for around $30, NO SHIPPING COST, went for $80. It's not even that rare or old of a figure, it just came out around a year ago. This is also my issue with the Anime Lab one in Little Tokyo. As well, as the anime section itself not being the most organized, aka the miscellaneous section and things on the shelves. Can never be my GOAT, Eco Town.
