BB Muffins is ok for a coffee and a snack, but that's about it. The recession has hit this centre hard, as can be seen from the number of pound shops and empty units. I hope that there is a brighter future for this centre, but it will need a small miracle for that to happen.

McDonalds has closed (moved outside the centre), the Co-op department store is gone and Safeways has been away even longer. Scottish Power closing was the end of appliances in the centre as well. There's still some stores worth going for. Dunnes, MacKays and Dorothy Perkins, as well as Peacocks and a couple of cheaper stores mean there's a surprisingly good range of women's clothes. The Boots could be bigger but is adequately stocks. The Co-op supermarket at the top is an OK grocery store and there's a decent Woolworths.

I hardly ever see things I don't like in this shop and they even have an old fashioned haberdashery department. Staff are all lovely. cafe is a bit of a let down but is no worse that one you'd find in debenhams.

They have a great home department at the back of the store. great bargains can be had here with a lot of items at knock down prices - i purchased a very good quality duvet which was priced by the manufacturer on the packaging at £50. this price i paid was only £25 so well worht the trip. they also have mens, ladies and childrens clothing sections with a huge choice in each section. i would best describe matalan as somewhere that you need to visit and spend time loooking for the bargains as they also sell a lot of items that are not that well made or worht their price. Definetly bargains to be had but you do need to be prepared to spend time looking for them
