Much nicer than the normal charity shops, and they seem to have rails and rails of wedding dresses, which would be ideal for someone on a tight budget. read more

There are several good branches of 'high street' stores in there, like HMV, and some places to have a cup of tea and a snack as well. It's next to the main multi-story car park - again ideal if it's wet!

Theres a pretty good next shop, a surprisingly good poundland (seriously), and a good HMV. Obviously theres a bit more than that, but if you've been to shopping centres in Ayr, and Carlisle and places like it, then the Loreburne centre falls short by quite a bit. You'll need to avoid the Big Issue sellers on your way in as well, none of whom are homeless by the way.

The restaurant can get very busy but it does have high standards and the food is always very good.Lots of nice rolls, salads, meals and cakes. They have lovely sweets and cakes here, so be warned it can seriously damage your waistline. For a while the service was a bit variable at busy times, but it now seems to have come to terms with those peak demands much better. I have always liked this place, and to be quite honest, i can feel myself being weaned back to it for lunch these days as i seem to be going through a tired of coffee shop period(in Dumfries that is). Anyway, let's not take anything away from Barbour's as it seems they are back to their best, and it's still good value too.

I was looking for something specific, but they didn't have it, so instead I decided to look for nylons, HUZZAH! They had those, and reasonable. Since there is no Ross here in the UK, you'll have to settle for the TK Maxx reviews. :)…read more Like it's sister store in the US, it is a discount department store, with the usual suspects, Fashion, makeup and homegoods. I did my normal prowling around and didn't find much I was interested in in the make up, but I did find a lovely light weight duster in the clothing racks for $14, Up stairs in Home goods, I found myself a set of Nessie Pins (stick pins that form the Loch Ness Monster) a colouring book and a set of tea tins from the UK. Every thing Was Reasonable and came to under 25 pounds when I checked out. Heck I even picked up a luggage scale so I can pack efficiently!
Good selection of items at reduced prices comparred to RRP…read more Some of the RRP's do seem a bit high in the first place but are probably right for good brands. Love the kitchen and homewares section lots of knives, pans etc at good prices, some good ornaments/fancy goods, clocks etc too. Look looking there in my quest for things shabby chic. They sometimes have a good wee selection of pet items. Not all sizes, but if you can find something in your dogs size etc then they are usually a good price. Ginormous selection of mens clothes and accessories!!! Lots of ladies clothes as well, and often some gorgeous prom/fancy dresses. Not so good if you are plus size though as next to nothing suitable which really lets the store down in that respect. Upstairs has a good selection of toys, especially if you are doing your Christmas shopping. Baby section seems to be going downhill since it moved upstairs, it used to have a great selection of bottles, sterilisers, bedding etc but now that has greatly reduced. Dont like the idea of having it upstairs as any ladies with bigger double buggies may not fit in the tiny lift! Should havew kept the mens stuff upstairs like before, imo. Over all i love TK Maxx and have been able to get some bargains on kids shoes before now especially good brands such as hush puppies school shoes etc. One thing that really really annoys me about TK Maxx though is the stupid price labels! They are rediculously fiddly to remove, as they fall apart in tiny bits. Ok maybe its so people dont swap labels in the shop i dunno, but it was VERY annoying to peel them off when wrapping Christmas presents !! TK MAXX get rid of those bloomin awful price stickers/labels pleaseee!!!

This particular store had an enormous parking lot, was super clean on the inside. When you entered, there were these scanners you could go ahead and choose to use, the reason? You could go ahead and scan your groceries ahead of time so that when you brought them up, they were already rang up and all the cashier had to do was bag them and take your money. Frankly, none of them were in use. Seems a bit like a lot of wasted money if you ask me, but that's just my opinion The stores carry fashions (Not a lot but some) House wares, grilling things and of course groceries and liquor. Yes, unlike Florida, they actually sell liquor in their stores. I know other states sell hard liquor but we only sell beer and wine. (le sigh) I really enjoy shopping in the UK because their selections were so different than ours. Bacon over here is not like bacon over there, we have "Streaky bacon" they have Rashers (Thin ham like slices which are salty and delicious), their meats are different but tasty and their produce come in different names for the same veggies (courgettes are zucchini) I loved the "Foreign" foods selections, which was tiny, and filled with mostly American foods. And of course the WALL of beans. Frankly I wish we'd get a Tesco here, and keep it filled with the UK selections.
