Theres a pretty good next shop, a surprisingly good poundland (seriously), and a good HMV. Obviously theres a bit more than that, but if you've been to shopping centres in Ayr, and Carlisle and places like it, then the Loreburne centre falls short by quite a bit. You'll need to avoid the Big Issue sellers on your way in as well, none of whom are homeless by the way.

The restaurant can get very busy but it does have high standards and the food is always very good.Lots of nice rolls,salads,meals and cakes.They have lovely sweets and cakes here, so be warned it can seriously damage your waistline. For a while the service was a bit variable at busy times,but it now seems to have come to terms with those peak demands much better. I have always liked this place, and to be quite honest, i can feel myself being weaned back to it for lunch these days as i seem to be going through a tired of coffee shop period(in Dumfries that is). I was looking for something specific, but they didn't have it, so instead I decided to look for nylons, HUZZAH! They had those, and reasonable. Their clothing wasn't the best, but I did find makeup wipes and some other things as well. I was impressed that they carry bras in larger cup sizes.

There are some decent brands to be purchased, but in the main the stuff on sale is low level and cheap lines. The only exception being the electrical section which seems to contradict my earlier line. Overall it meets a need, but sadly contributes to the increasing number of "cheap shops " engulfing Dumfries Town Centre.

It can get a little crowded as bargain hunters jostle for the best buys but it is worth persevering as you can get some good deals. Downstairs there is a small children's section, a shoe department, perfume, toys, electrical goods and even suitcases. Upstairs you will find bedding, curtains, kitchen items etc and a large Cafe. The Cafe sells generic store food at the average price but is often a quiet place to put your feet up and have a drink in the middle of a shopping day. Good baby changing facilities and plenty of high chairs make it popular with parents of young children - especially as it is a spacious seating area as you are not scared of crashing into every table with your pushchair!

Tried to make excuses that the pile height was different. The wood panel by the sliding door was loose. They installed it incorrectly and I had to redo it. I could not believe that they were not willing to come in and even explain the problem. Fitters just weren't interested. Too be honest I was amazed that they wouldn't even come back inside to discuss the problem. I will not be using them again. It really would have been an easy problem for them to fix...

Matalan has a good selction of stuff. I like this shop but the two big failings is…read more1/ often the toilets are in a disgusting state, many bins not been emptied, toilets dirty 2/ the check out bit is way too narrow especially if you are in a wheelchair, as you cant get a trolley past so if you are wheelchair bound you get impatient staff and shoppers getting annyoed with you if you are at the till paying for your own shopping, makes you feel a lesser rate citizen!
