So, I have given this place too many chances. I really wanted to like this place. In the beginning of our 2 month vacation we found this spot immediately. We met the greatest people there. It's right off the beach and so close to shopping that we thought we hit the jackpot. Until you order. Let's say that there philosophy is " everyone is on vacation" ! The service is so slow. Period. Go there only of you plan to spend the day! Our first meal, we got the guacamole appetizer minutes after the last person was served. The meals came out one at a time, in no particular order. Then when we got the bill , the waiter had our table and the next table on one check. Then left us to figure it out. That was the first time there. The second time was exactly the same with the timing. We had a different waiter, but it still took forever to get drinks and refills. We finally started going to the restaurant right next door for our drinks. Mind you, the other guests are all Canadian or American, and all very nice. This time, the owner (I Think) asked us if everything was good. I asked for a glass of ice ( coke was warm served in a bottle) she said sure thing in her Texas accent. A half an hour later, she revisited our table. Clueless. I reminded her about the ice as I reordered another coke. 20 min. Later the waiter brought me my drink. Because this is such a popular place with expats and English speaking travelers, I believe the owner takes her customers for granted. The breakfast buffet. Here is where we stopped being nice. I actually think the American school system would not serve this sub-par food. Horrible!!!! Again the owner lady was there and walked around pointing out to her employees what needed to be done. ( Obviously she is not a working manager) we ate only a nibble of each thing we choose. We had to ask for our check 4 times. Really? The worst food possible and now we have to beg for a check? Ridiculous! Soon after that the health department closed them down for over a week! A friend of ours came in for a week, and was already sitting at a table when arrived, so we had to stay. I ordered fish sticks, thinking " how could you screw that up", our guests ordered this ; Cordon Blue , tacos, a salad ( took a half N hour to get the sheet of ingredients you wanted in your salad) btw she had no meat on this salad, and for an appitizer, we ordered cheese sticks and Nacho's. My completely burnt fish sticks came out first. Tacos, Cordon Blue, cheese sticks, Nacho's and then the Salad all spaced out over 210 min. WTF!!!! I was only drinking Coke whereas my friends we drinking alcoholic beverages. I mention this only because it was our friends first actual day in Progresso, and I didn't want to make a scene. But that was it!! Never will I go back there. Ever. I will always tell this story to whomever will listen. This lady who owns this place does not deserve anyone's patronage. She preying on English speaking travelers to keep her business floating. In America or Canada she would have been closed down quick. PLEASE TAKE YOU BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. read more
