Everyone was friendly and made us feel welcome, and we walked away with great conversations and local recommendations for our trip. We had the bang bang shrimp lettuce cups one night (they were divine), but those dirty martinis was the highlight for me - thanks JB)! The immediate place as you enter the street area, is Panco Villa Restaurant. You are greeted offer a menu along with the cost of the beverages, Margaritas 2 for $5 or beer for $1. I must say, the margaritas are made traditional, squeezed lime, triple sec, bar syrup, and tequila and in a real glass, not a plastic cup. I had several items to eat, one was the shrimp cocktail, Mexican style, very delicious and then I had the Devil Shrimp, sometimes referred to as Camarones el Diablo. They will prepare to any degree of heat that you want. So, if you are cruising through Progresso, give this place a stop for food or just a drink. Ask for Sergio.

I've been on the hunt for kibis since I got to the Yucatan, so I was delighted to find they had it here. The only thing I was skeptical about is that they were stuffed. I would have much preferred it plain, but didn't wanna knock it without trying it. So, we put in an order for that. While waiting for our drinks, the mini side snacks ("las botanas") started coming through... and it was a lot: pasta with red sauce, ceviche, sliced hotdogs in some kind of creamy dressing, three types of rolls/taquitos with three types of sauces, chips and salsa, and surprise! Included were plain kibis. We tried to find our server to cancel the stuffed kibis and maybe order something else. But it was too late by the time he came back since he had already put the order in the kitchen. Why he didn't mention they were part of the snacks when we spoke about the stuffed ones earlier is beyond me. (No, there were no communication barriers. Hubbers speaks fluent Spanish.) They were just "okay", nothing to call home about, and not one really stood out. And yes: that includes the kibis. The plain ones had very minimal flavor. The stuffing on their stuffed version overpowered the main essence of the kibis. So final verdict is: MEH. But they were generous, I'll give them that. FOOD: 3.5. 5 for quantity, 2 for quality. SERVICE: 3. VALUE: 3. PARKING: I might have noticed a parking lot behind the restaurant. Street parking is also available. OVERALL: 3. Fam met up with us a bit later, so the company elevated the experience a notch. It is a tourist spot so they're never wanting for customers. It certainly is the perfect location for it. So, yeah: come for the drinks, come for the snacks, come for the view. Despite the mediocre food, we still had good times.

Not close to the touristy part of progresso, this is a good thing, no obnoxious gringos other than my self from what I could tell. This place seems to serve everyone, the Merida elite hasta regular people. Order s drink and they bring out delectable nibbles, hot dog cut up, jaiba, chile and lime veggies.... We ordered an octopus and caracol ceviche plus a a few beers. Amazing, all of that for about 15$. Yup this place is the definition of Mexico, or at least how I choose to experience Mexico. They accept credit cards, debit and cash. Been here a couple times , and we have never had a bad experience, they have a swimming pool perfect for kids , they offer outdoor seating by the pool or beach , the food is always yummy , except for the cheeseburger, it is good but is not a traditional cheeseburger. The restaurant and bathroom are very clean. And their prices are reasonable.
