Mr. Gojo having a fun time at his favorite park

One of my favorite dog spots x it's so big and spacious for both dogs and hoomans. Depends on the day it does get busy on the evenings and early mornings. Love it cause my dog gets to interact with other dogs.

Great park for small, medium and large dogs. Nice weather in mid October for some running around and playing with the other dogs!!!

Casper enjoying some shade inside the big dog area.

I found this place after searching for dog parks on my phone, and it seemed to be the closest so my pup and I gave it a shot. I have a large German shepherd/malamute mix, and preferred a separate big dog/small dog park which this one offers. I couldn't find the dog park at first, the address takes you to the main park (Wayne Bunker family park). You have to walk to the rear of the park to a set of stairs where at the bottom you will find the gates that separate the dog parks from one another. I was surprised at the size of each of the gated areas, and they seemed fairly cleanly. My only word of advise is to keep an eye on your pup, as they will be around other dogs if they are present. My dog is well behaved but protective of me, and did not like when another dog seemed to run up to me (I'm 8 months pregnant). Only complaint that I had was that the water fountain didn't seem to work. I brought my own bottles with me but it was a hot day and would've been a bummer had I not come prepared with his travel bowl and bottle of water.

Growing near the newly planted trees

THE LITTLE DOG PARK HAS SILVERLEAF NIGHTSHADE GROWING IN IT, i.e. Solanum elaeagnifolium Please note that this is NOT the same thing as Deadly Nightshade (fatal) however silverleaf nightshade can still harm your dog. It's growing near several of the newly planted trees on the east side of the little dog park. There are several stems growing near each tree every time I visit the park. One of my dogs loves to eat plants and she ate some before I could get it out of her mouth. The leaves irritated her throat and stomach and the inflammation cause her to have coughing fits to the point where she was vomiting the next day. An x-ray showed her intestines were inflamed and she had experienced several vomiting episodes for the next 24-48 hours after consumption. Her blood work was normal. I can't imagine what would've happened if she would've swallowed a bunch. Please watch out for this plant and be sure not to let your pup(s) consume any if you have any "plant/grass eaters" in your pack. The stems have extremely sharp projections and you shouldn't attempt to uproot it without some kind of barrier. I'll change my review to 5 stars once the plants are gone -- I'm only giving a low rating now to increase visibility.

    Guinness tuckered out!

Been here a handful of times and the park itself is pretty nice. It's very large with shaded area for owners to sit and watch. My only gripes are you have to park pretty far away to get to the doggy section. But mostly, every time we've been here the people have not been friendly. They're not nasty or anything just have always been really unsociable with their noses in their phones or just plain unfriendly.

First time at this park and I loved it because it was peaceful & relaxing. It was also quite clean, not too many dog poop. It would be such a treat if the water fountains worked but overall, lovely park.

    HUGE enclosed area

Are you looking for a safe, spacious, well kept and enclosed doggy park for your loved one?? This is the place! There are two different enclosed parks for your doggy's! A side for large dogs and another side for small dogs and puppies. The separation of sizes and ages really helps with the safety factor, as my puppy is very social but on the larger side- 35lbs. She is too much for the older and larger dogs and the two spaces helps keep dogs like her safe, I really appreciate that. Also for safety, to enter and exit the park, there's two gates to make sure none can slip out without being on a leash. There's plenty of sitting for the humans, a lot of socks distancing is possible here. There's doggy water fountains, huge plus!! I haven't ever seen that in a dog park before. So much space that it could tire out even the most energetic doggy.

Really large park with enormous spaces for dogs. This is the dog park to be! Playground and fitness area as well as picnic spots. No water park. Bathrooms available.

Ask the Community - Barkin' Basin Dog Park

Hello! Are the gates enclosed? I used to go to a dog park that had gates but one entrance that was not enclosed.

Yes! There's a few feet of space from one gate to the other so your pup & mine can't escape!

Is this a city park or CCounty Park? In other words is it open during COVID19?

Do my dog has to be neutered to get in? She's 1 year old and under 25 lbs. Thank You!

Not necessary to be neutered. Small dogs have their own section of the park as well, so no need to worry about mixing with the big dogs!

Can i bring a dog that's exactly 4 months? With complete vaccination

    yes

I love this park - I know it's open until 10pm but is it well lit after the sun goes down? Thanks!

Yes, there are lots of lights all around all three breed enclosures

What's a good time to go here?

The park closes at 10 p.m., but it's never locked up. People usually go when the temperature is low. Early morning, and early evening in the summer.

Visited Centennial Hills Park (dog park area) and honestly had such a great experience from start…read moreto finish. First off...parking was a breeze. There's plenty of it, and it's super close to the dog park, which is always a plus when you've got excited pups ready to go. The park itself is split into a small dog area and a large dog area, and both sides were well maintained. The grass was green and mostly clean, and there were multiple shaded seating areas to relax while keeping an eye on your dog. I really appreciated the water fountains placed around specifically for the dogs, they looked clean and well kept, which isn't always the case at dog parks. There are also lots of trees, so even on warmer days, you can find shade easily. There were easily 15+ dogs there during our visit, and the overall vibe was great. Most of the dogs came over to say hello, and they all appeared healthy, well groomed, and social. No aggressive behavior at all... just the occasional male dog trying to assert dominance, but nothing escalated and owners stayed attentive and in control. That alone says a lot about the type of crowd this park attracts. Speaking of people...everyone we encountered was friendly, respectful, and responsible. It was really nice to see that every dog owner we noticed picked up after their pets. That level of consideration makes a huge difference. Beyond the dog park, the rest of the park was just as lively. The volleyball courts were packed with groups having a good time, and the fields were full of soccer teams ranging from little kids to teens. Even the restroom was well maintained, soap to wash your hands, full rolls of toilet paper, no trash or debris on the floor no floaters in the toilets. The playground was surprisingly not crowded, and it looks like it's been updated....there were no traditional slides, but instead more interactive and physical play structures like climbing ropes, stairs, and obstacle style features that make it fun in a different way. Even the parking lot experience stood out... people were patient, respectful, and courteous. One driver even pulled back into their spot after starting to back out just to let me pass, even though I had paused for them. It's little things like that that really add to the overall experience. All in all, it was an amazing day at the park. The weather was perfect, which definitely helped set the tone, but the cleanliness, friendly atmosphere, and thoughtful layout of the park really made it stand out. This is one of those places you'll want to keep coming back to.
