I really want to support local music stores over big box retailers or online sellers, and as a…read morelocal, experienced musician I generally try to start local first. Unfortunately, my recent experience at Langlois Music Co was disappointing due to their outdated return policy. In today's market, where most reputable music retailers offer reasonable return or exchange options, their no refunds (or exchange) policy makes it difficult to justify purchasing gear here. I bought some speaker cables that turned out to not be an option for me. I hadn't even used them and they still wouldn't let me return or offer to exchange them or even store credit. Very odd. The staff was courteous, but policies matter, and this one ultimately pushes me away from advocating local in this case. I'm sharing this so other musicians are aware before making a purchase. I hope the store modernizes this policy in the future, because I'd prefer to support a local shop rather than a big box store or online retailer.

Even got a phone call last week confirming that they would see me on Monday (8/15). Well, today at 3:45pm I received a phone call from Gottschalks telling me that they had to cancel my instrument rental night. I was taken aback! All i could muster was a, "Why?!?!" And then I was told by the employee that "I was told they we're not doing that and we have to cancel". When I asked why they would do that, after we had this planned and confirmed months ago, he said, "I didn't get a good reason why"... I was so livid. All I got was a "Sorry..." I told them that they really screwed me over and that it's their loss... Then they had the audacity to say, "Well if you still want information about rentals, I can send that to you." I responded with, "If you think I'll EVER do business with you again after the stunt you just pulled, you just be out of your mind!" Then he said, "Sorry..." and I hung up the call. I have never dealt with such a level of unprofessional incompetence in my life! Luckily, this story has a happy ending, and my faith in humanity has been restored. I reached out to Ingram and Brauns Musik Shoppe and told them about my situation. Not only can they host a rental night for me but, I don't have to go through the pain of trying to reschedule the whole event because they can even come this Monday on my original date.
