My grandmother lives in one of their senior communities and I am absolutely appalled at how poorly this place is ran. Their on site management and maintenance do absolutely nothing and are putting this vulnerable community in danger. The grounds are unkempt, units with leakage problems that have lead to mold growth which in turn has sent tenants to the hospital. I refuse to sit by idly while my grandmother and other residents suffer in silence, with no one to fight for them. I will be looking into how to further escalate this. If you or anyone you know is looking into staying in any of their properties, please take heed to these one star reviews and reconsider. read more

I honestly don't have anything positive to say about this place, besides being grateful that me and my children have a roof over our heads. Baker management are complete slumb lords. They do not take care no pride in their building nor their tenants. The apartment whole entire building is infested with roaches and fruit flies, in my unit the ceiling is always leaking and has been doing this now for the past 3 years that I have lived here, because of it constantly leaking almost every month mold began growing in my kids bedroom closet which has also made my children sick and has been documented by their doctors as well. Being that mold is growing thru the walls it is not only dangerous but a health hazard!!! They refuse to treat the mold as well!!!! I have came out of pocket with treating the mold myself as well as bombing my home every month because of the infestation with roaches. There was a stabbing that occurred here and for some odd reason none of their cameras work. Homeless people are able to enter the building and steal our clothing that in the wash rooms. Half of the dryers and washers in this building do not work then told us that its our responsibilityto contact the people of the washer machines to come and fix it, there is always plumbing issues, our heat in our units haven't been working for two months now and before that the ac wasn't working for months at a time, my bathtub in my restroom layers have been coming off to the point that you can feel it getting softer and also little bits of sand grit or whatever coming up, there's been rats spot in the parking garage, they pick and choose who they allow to park inside and who can't, people's packages and mail get stolen in themail room, property managers discloses residents information to other tenants, my refrigerator that came with this unit had broke in Dec of 2022. I was without a refrigerator for over a month. I was constantly putting in work orders for it to get fixed or even replaced and they never did either. I eventually had to go and get another refrigerator personally. Alot of my food had gone bad and more. They will tell you one thing then try and play in your face. They constantly lie and make up stories about tenants. Management will also try and get you to fabricate your yearly recertifications so they can try and get more money for tax credits, they refuse to fix anything properly in this building especially in our homes. They are very racist towards tenants here as well. If you are looking for somewhere to stay especially if you are low income stay far far away from this place. read more

This company is not even close to being a good management company. For openers they never answer their phones. Second they do not tend to the needs of the locations. Maintenance and service needs take weeks. Very neglected. Don't live in one of there establisments. read more

They continue to take advantages of the QUIET tenants (those who say nothing and do nothing)! I had been on the phone with Matt from March 2018 until last month when he told me to never call again and all that I wanted was to rent an apartment at Colosseum Ave and to constantly get turned down and rudely told to go to Hell. My grandmother is elderly over 80 years old and is terrified of the manager Ruth. We never knew why as my grandma is stellar resident for 15 years. When they call for inspection or serve her with inspection notices my grandma goes into anxiety attacks and fearful that the manager will come and harass her. We always dismissed these frustrations as exaggerations but not no more. I heard it for myself. The local manager is rude and uncaring and very intimidating. If I were my grandma I would be afraid. This is not okay treatment and yes its illegal. This company needs to be reported as this needs to be addressed. read more

This property management is useless. They don't want fix or repair anything in the units, but always on time when the rent is due. We can never get ahold of the manager boss Sophia. Left her several voicemails and never calls us back at all. My A.C is currently down and they can't do anything fast enough to get it fix, I have a disabled husband and I'm currently pregnant and force to sleep through this heat because we can't get in touch with the company. The lady Sophia never calls us back no matter how many voicemails you leave it even write. They don't even respond, so it's pointless. read more

I think the last person who wrote the review is a disgruntled employee. I have been working at Barker for the last 2 years and they have been nothing but great to the employees. My supervisor is always helpful and the staff a corporate actually sit and teach you. Everyone I have dealt with has been nothing but pleasant. Sure I do walk in and see people waiting for HR but it's probably cuz they are not doing their job. Another thing is I think this company give back to staff, I won 2 tv is last 2 years and at the holiday party I got me some money that they were handing out. Don't if I have left luck but the annual picnic and holiday party have been a blast. I actually have one on my cousins staring next week cuz I recommended this company to her. She doesn't know anything about PM but they are going to give her an opportunity. You don't see that nowadays at any company. Investing is staff is what make a great company. Are you serious? Barker Management.. eh! I DID APPLIED for an apartment at one of their property last April 2020. I did paid $32 fee for background/credit check. Got result back that I passed background/credit check. And WAS TOLD that I am the next person on the list to move in one of unit, in May. As month has passed by, I contacted them, they told me there's no unit available but probably will be ready in June or July. The month has passed, I contacted them again, and again. KEPT TELLING ME THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER. ONE YEAR AND HALF HAS PASSED, Around December of 2021, I DISCOVERED the truth that they didn't want to move me in because I was deaf. They said my deafness will SLOW DOWN the processing, which it DOESNT have nothing to do with me being deaf. I am just the same as everybody execpt my hearing. WHAT KIND OF PROFESSIONALISM ARE THEY? This company is full of people committing fraud. They sign people's names on documents. They have properties that have income limits but if you have section 8 they will charge you more rent than you should be paying they call this maxing out your voucher which means you and section 8 end up paying more than you should. Even their complacent people know about this fraud that goes on. Their is also video of them in November of 2015 going in tenants units illegally without giving notice or their being an emergency. read more

I have to agree with the first writer. I too experienced the same thing, providing them with all my personal information and kids information just for them to tell me something was on my credit report, which was not true. They didnt even tell me what it was that dis-qualified me and once I looked at the report myself it was nothing there to turn me away. They do DISCRIMINATE on who they want to give the apartment unit too. If I wouldn't have found me another apartment, I would have filed a lawsuit of Discrimination against them, because I too was told I qualified!!!! read more

This company discriminates and tries to get all your information and get you thinking you have the apartment for affordable living you get them EVERYTHING They need which is a whole bunch of information you spend 2 hours at an interview in Downey and they say that you got it which is a affordable unit because they ask you for kids ss #, tax docs, 401k information bank stubs so much stuff then don't offer you affordable price. I asked to talk to owner manager which i did and he danced around. He said the income limit was 59,000 i said i don't make the much he said oh you don't then you would qualify. Then he came back to say it was 43,000. Crazy how much somone can discriminate and not be caught or fined for it. i am very tempted to take this to a higher level. Also when reviewing my credit they said i had something on there and when i paid for my credit report nothing was listed so they made that up too. read more

At the Park Villas property, the lady in the very front (left hand side when you first walk into the office) office, has a NASTY, arrogant attitude. Moreover, she stuck me with a 2000 move out bill. "They say" they replaced the carpet, (i'll never know if they actually did), and the cheap ass laminate flooring they'd put in, in the kitchen and dining room area that I'm positive cost no more than 200 total, was knicked (because it IS so cheap, you almost cannot avoid knicking it when moving furniture - dining room table, etc. - around. The total of the two was the bulk of the charged costs, totalling nearly 1500. They say they are for low income people, then they most know that charging a low income family 2000 move out costs is criminal. We're already poor, but they saw it fit to rob us of our crumbs. Unfortunately though, this world we live in is ran by bloodsucking cold-hearted gangsters. That was a cold move, period. read more
