We went to the Skye canyon location for grooming. Apparently by incredibly hairy Chihuahua has a thick undercoat which needs to be brushed out and not shaved! Thank you to the groomer who told me this! I had no idea! So definitely talk with the groomer first to see whst your pupper needs! They were awesome! BEST FIRST PUPPY GROOMING EXPERIENCE 5/5 review I called about my mini golden doodle and seem extremely nice and i wanted to get her first puppy haircut. Upon entering they were extremely welcoming and knew exactly who i was even though i called few hours earlier. When i came to pick her up she was happy and all cute with a bow in her hair. Bark Place is the only groomer nearby that my dogs don't absolutely dread going to. **my dogs only get their nails cut, I haven't used Bark Place grooming for full grooming services**. I have two large dogs, 100lbs and 70lbs. and the employees here are always patient and kind with my dogs. I also like that my dogs don't get taken to a back room, so I can see how the dogs are being handled. I brought my cat, Bukowski, in to Bark Place for a bath so he'd smell a bit better. I tried to bathe him a few months back and decided it would be better to turn him over to the pros. I messaged several groomers around the valley and many were far from home and others didn't groom cats. Bark Place replied to my Yelp message promptly and gave me a transparent breakdown of their prices. I appreciated their honesty, as well as Carl (the owner)'s friendliness. I was able to get Bukowski in for a Saturday appointment with little hassle. They had plenty of times available that worked well with my schedule. When I dropped him off, the staff was just as friendly as they were on Yelp and over the phone. This was Bukowski's first groom/bath, but I was probably more nervous than he was. The staff was comforting and reassuring that he'd do fine. After I dropped him off, the staff updated me by phone once he was done with his bath and drying off. This really put me at ease. They also called and texted me once he was ready to be picked up. When I picked him up, I was amazed with how white he was. He was like a whole new cat! He didn't seem to be bothered by the environment or anything. He was totally chill. Plus, he was super soft and smelled great. My dog turned out super cute - the down fall was the owner. I had called a mobile company and was quoted $125. I totally get that they have to come out and the rate would be higher, since I just moved into the area I remembered seeing this place diving toy house so I decided to call and set an appointment up AFTER getting a quote. When I called to set up the appointment I was asked what breed my dog was and lbs. I told them and they said it would run be between $65-$75. I was totally fine with that- so, we decided to set the appointment up and go. At time of pick up we were told it was $120! The issue is not whether we can afford it or not, the issue is that as a business you should be honest and upfront about everything- especially cost. The owner said he was "sorry we were misinformed", but as a business owner that would NEVER be my answer. It's double the amount we were quoted and I thought it was in poor taste to have a reply like that. Had I been told the adequate price, I would have just gotten the mobile groomers to come out. We dropped off our 12 pound dog named Teddy on 5/26 at 8:00 for a groom. We got a call 45 minutes later saying he was done from the gentleman. Upon arrival, he was bathed and not cut/groomed. The gentleman said the total would be $45. He was questioned about this as this was not the arrangement that was made. His tone became rude and said the dog needs to be sedated because he was skiddish. The matter was discussed for about 5 minutes and he didn't seem to care. We've been to this location before and not had an issue with Teddy as well as another nearby several times. My issue lies with the fact we paid $45 for a bath for a tiny dog, something we did not agree to. We were told on the phone he was done in which he was not. We weren't given any options as far as a different employee trying to groom him as some dogs don't respond well to certain people or even asking us to come assist (if allowed). And the gentleman was just very matter-of-fact rather than trying to work with us, try again with someone else, etc. We are hoping to have this resolved with a refund rather than leave a poor review. read more

So, my husband took our cat and dog here. Our dog was here to just get a bath and our cat was supposed to get the lion shave. They said they had to stop grooming our cat because they found a bug on him.-they couldn't confirm if it was a flea or not, just a bug. Now updating my review after speaking with the owner: Upon calling I let them know I needed to speak with someone regarding a complaint. Informed them of the fact that my dogs private area and butt was shaved rather than trimmed as i had requested, and is now red and irritated with a rash. After informing the owner of this he went straight into suggesting I apply baby powder to the area. No apology. Just to throw some baby powder on there. After I pointed out he did not apologize, he then apologized and repeated again to apply baby powder or a cortisone cream and to purchase a cone to keep him from licking the area. I told him I didn't think it's fair that I have to pay additional expenses because of THEIR mishap. Then he offered to pay those expenses but could not until Thursday due to the store being closed. Don't you think you could make some time to help fix a situation that was at fault of your employees regardless of if you're closed? I've worked multiple positions that have required me to come into the office outside of normal business hours just for the convenience of a customer, but would definitely do more if it had been a problem caused at my fault. Rude, and disrespectful. DO NOT BRING YOUR BABIES HERE. It's really unfortunate that I have to leave this poor review. I was excited to try out this groomer as my dog had never been here before. They were able to get me in the same day for a bath and tidy trim. Upon arrival the staff was friendly and the place was clean. After 4 entire hours, I finally called them to check on the status. Conveniently as soon as I called I got the response of "oh we were just about to call you". I've never had my dog take 4 hours for a bath and tidy. Typical time for him would be able 2.5 hours. After getting my dog home and getting to fully look over his groom, his feet were not fully trimmed, and the second we got home he ran to the water bowl and drank for so long. With the temperature being so hot and having him there for four hours I question if they even gave him a small amount of water. I generally do not like taking them to get 'cut' as his nails tend to split so easily. I found that this grooming salon offers five dollar nail trimmings via the nail grinder which is a lot better for his thick nails (they round them out vs. having a straight cut). This is a steal compared to other grooming salons and they offer this service on a walk-in basis. The low price of this service is great, as it can be upwards of fifteen dollar side service at the vet or other groomers. I've taken my dogs here a handful of times without notice and can easily walk-in and take care of business. The groomers who have trimmed both of my dogs have been helpful and courteous during each visit. Note: I believe this discount of five dollar nail trimming is for cash customers only. The positive: very friendly and patient with fussy dogs. Mine acts like a nail cut is killing her. They got it done without stressing her too badly. The negative: i could have taken my 50 dollars, bought the scissors and did it myself. I have a long haired dachshund. You never take Clippers to a long haired doxie coat. It's basic grooming 101 not only that, i specifically said do not use clippers and do not trim her coat. Do not trim her ears. I wanted her behind area groomed, feet cleaned up and pads. They clippered her long top coat...but only in areas so now she has these areas of long tufts of hair and short patches that look awful because it's clipped. They didn't clean her feet up uniformly. Looks like they quit halfway through. Her rear end...half is long half is short. The bottom of her pads still full of long hair and they took nearly 2 inches off her ears. Also...they have so much perfume sprayed in there it's worse than the cheap shop in the mall. I'm still trying to get the taste out of my mouth. During our conversation for the appointment they told us that for $55 our puppy will be groomed with bath, hair cut, and nails ... An hour after we took our puppy there, we got call that our puppy is done ...We were excited to see our puppy how'd she look like...but to our DISMAY;(.... This place was crowded and smelled like a wet dog. (Aside from the fact that it is a dog grooming place it smelled dirty) The girl at the front counter saw me standing there with my dog for about 5 minutes before addressing me (she was playing on her phone) My dog didn't like the idea of even being here, because of the other barking loud dogs. Maybe because I came in on a Saturday this place was over crowded , but maybe they need better organisation. Also they were trimming a dog right on the front counter ! Not to mention the prices were really high. To be honest this place doesn't look clean (and it probably isn't) it seems a bit overpriced for even just a bath. We have used Bark Place Grooming since our dog became a part of the family a little over a year ago. The first couple of visits were 5 star. The staff seemed happy and confident. Rufus looked amazing, smelled great, and wore his jaunty bandana they gave him looking and behaving very happy. The groomer did a style on him called "teddy bear head" and it was adorable. I've requested it since. The last couple of times have been different. He came home the time before last looking great, but behaving a bit strangely. Hiding, not wanting to play, and marking in the house which we haven't had a problem with. After a few days, he was his old self and I chalked it up to maybe he wasn't feeling well. The last time I took him, I waited hours to pick him up and I finally called asking if he was ready, and the answer was, "Yeah, didn't we call you?" No. But again, not the end of the world. Rufus behaved clingily, but I figure he might just not like grooming. The staff though has not looked like the same people and to be honest, it seems the happy, confident, professional demeanor is gone. I'm just not getting the good vibes I got from them before. (Yup, I'm a vibe person lol). So I figured one last chance here before I change groomer to see if it's just been a couple not great experiences. They were able to get him in last minute, which I appreciate since my fluctuating work schedule makes it hard to schedule anything else. I asked the girl at the desk if she thought his nails look like they needed a trim. She said, "No, they're not bad." So I requested to skip the nail trim then because I know he gets anxious over a nail trim and I wanted to see if that attributed to his recent odd behavior post grooming. I saw her write it down along with "TBH" for Teddy Bear Head on his little info card. When I came to pick him up, he was in the kennel. No bandana today, that's fine. We paid the $55.00 plus a $5 tip. Getting him out to the car, I noticed his nails were trimmed quite short. I went back into discuss and the groomer said he needed it and that the girl at the front said "to skip it if they weren't bad. But they were bad and he needed it". I said, "I asked her if they were bad and she said no." The response was, "Oh she's just a receptionist, she doesn't know." Okay fine. I have been taking my Yorkie/ Maltese and English Bulldog to Bark Place for almost a year and half. I have always been able to call and they have always been able to take one or both of my dogs (I don't always take my Bulldog) the same day which is super convenient! They are always ready for me when I arrive and they take the dogs right back. I have never had a problem with the grooming my dogs have received here. They have always done exactly what I have requested and I have never seen any knick marks or cuts on my dogs. The last time I took in my Yorkie/ Maltese he was really over grown, because I thought he looked super cute as a long haired mutt and I just didn't want to get him a hair cut! But I finally felt so bad for him, despite how cute he looked, so I took him in. I was really impressed because they still charged the same $45 to have him completely clipped down! Love Bark Place! Just took my 1 year old golden retriever mix in for her first 'real' grooming and am ecstatic about how great of a job they did. They charged $65 for a full service groom for my 75 pound, long haired dog which was money well spent. That included shaving her, bath, anal gland expression, teeth brushing, ear cleaning, the whole 9 yards. I was not at all sure what to request them to do in terms of how much to trim off of her fur length and they suggested the perfect style based on her breed and my desire to keep her looking fluffy but also trim a lot of fur (vague, I know). I was nervous to pick her up and see what they did but she looks perfect and is so happy! Employees are very friendly with the dogs (and humans too!) so you can't ask for much more. We took our dog Sparky to Bark Place Grooming on a Sunday as they were open on the weekend for walk-ins. He was a real knotty mess as it had been four months since his last groom and we took him camping where he ran through the mountains and the camp site. To make his fur worse I gave him an unauthorized bath and let him run around the yard to dry off (oops... I guess you don't do that with a long haired dog). The staff laughed when they laid eyes on him as he was a disaster. They told me not to worry and assured us they would fix him. Two hours later they called and said he was ready. When we picked him up he looked really good. The knotted fur was trimmed nicely and he had a happy look on his face and smelled fruity fresh. He looked like a little puppy again. I recommend Bark Place Grooming as the best groomer in the Centennial Hills area. We tried three others in the area and this is the one for Sparky.
