It's a great place for training! Specially for those dogs who are more nervous. This is a great place to start.

I have encountered aggressive dogs that picks on or constantly humps my dog with the owner nowhere to be found and this is me with a neutered 90pound huskymix. On most days, there's a lot of friendly and playful dogs too. While it is nice on a sunny day, the area surrounding near the AstroTurf puddles up and forms a muddy mess. I like the paved pathway around the park, although it's been covered up with tanbark during my last visit. When there are uncontrollable dogs at the park, I like to walk far away from the trouble while my puppers follow while exploring at the same time. I just wished that there more shaded areas across the dog park because it gets crowded in the small shaded area on sunny days.

First time he was chased out by older and aggressive dogs and thought it was just a bad owner that wasn't paying attention. Went again tonight (with a hired trainer) and experienced the same. Our dog is not aggressive (puppy) accept to defend itself. Trainer wasn't happy with the aggressive dogs and slow reacting owners. Not going back. Unless you can make your way into there "club", I wouldn't recommend - at least after 4:00. Think I'll bring him back when he has matured and 200 lbs and see what he remembers.

This is such a gem of a park in the Sunset District. A lovely green space for dog walkers,…read morefamilies, runners and not forgetting it evolves into a concert stadium for the annual Stern Grove Festival, bringing in thousands of people together to enjoy music and the park. Had a lovely walk this morning enjoying bathing in nature and observing plants and animals all around. This park has a little lake, a new upgraded climbing structure and 4 pickle ball courts which needs to be booked through Park and Rec. There is a big carpark as you enter on Vale and toilets are located in the clubhouse and by the stage. From the outside, it's hard to envision this oasis as you walk down to the grove surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees. Grateful to have this park nearby to enjoy!!!

We went in the main entrance on the corner of 19th and something else, but it was very hectic and busy! The hill was pretty steep to push a stroller down, And my nephews complained about the steep hill, but they also don't hike. I didn't think it was very steep where your body would hurt. But I hike. Lol anyways, that area opened up to a little parking lot and a great stage area with huge steps to play on and run around. On the backside, there was a huge hillside, filled with beautiful eucalyptus trees, and the smell Was amazing and enchanting! We kept walking and found an open meadow area, and then a spot where you could take your dogs off leash! Sadly, both sets of bathrooms were closed, but it was a holiday weekend, so maybe that's why? There was also a sandy spot and you could watch ducks come in and out of the lake! I will definitely go back here again! I'll just make sure I go to the bathroom before hand! It's also right down the street from the mall so I was able to use the bathroom there.

DOG WALKERS BEWARE! YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE…read more The private owners who come to this park will report you for the smallest infraction. The park itself is small and dirty. There is NO clean space it is all dirt and mud. It is poorly maintained, the DPW is responsible for this area NOT parks and Rec. and they do literally nothing. It is the private owners in the neighborhood who do all the cleaning and maintenance. Most of the private owners are chill, but there is a distinct avoidance of their responsibility to clean up their dog droppings. At times, the place can be a literal sh*t show. It doesn't help that when more than two dogs walkers are there at any one time, the place becomes way too crowded and I guarantee you will leave with sh*t on your shoes. wait.... I meant to say even when the park is empty, you will leave with sh*t on your shoes. There is ALWAYS several out of control dogs or dog guardians at this filthy hell hole. It used to be a nice place several years ago, now it is sadly an open sewer frequented by the homeless and thoughtless. There is no water inside the park and the fountain outside is filthy. I've found human feces, mud and assorted other stuff in it NEVER let your dogs drink from it unless you want a huge vet bill. Speaking of vet bills, unless a good Samaritan private owner pulls the weeds.. (again DPW does less than nothing), the place gets infested with fox tails every spring and summer. Ticks? yes. Fleas? Yes. Ghiardia? Yes. If you hate yourself and hate your dogs, this is the park for you.

Parking: There are two lots. One by the baseball field…read morewhich is a shortish walk to the kids playground, and one right next to the playground which I didn't park at because I couldn't figure out how to get there. A wanderer explained I would need to get back on the freeway and go around etc. so I just shrugged and hauled myself on the paved path to the park. Playground: I'm such a fan because my son is 17 months and the playground was a great size for him. The slides are low to the ground so I feel comfortable with him going down on his own. I wish the swings were longer cause it's a lot back and forth quick swings but he doesn't complain and asks to jump back and forth between the two options. The area is very small, but not crowded so a sweet low key option for a parent who doesn't want to run around too much. There's a fun dome like spinning seat and a larger swing to sit with your kid in as well. There's not a ton at this park but what there was enough. Safety: I felt super safe here! I There were a handful of people with kids resting at some of the few picnic tables who kept to themselves. There were a few teenagers that strode in but they also kept to themselves. The flooring at this park is spongey and I had no worries about my son falling. There is a concrete "stage" with concrete seating around it that my son loved climbing on so I was close-by for that play area. Resting: Plenty of grass for picnics and 2-3 picnic tables that I noticed. Nothing was shaded though. Overall: I would definitely come back. My son was not ready to leave as he loved it here. I just need to figure out the correct parking lot!
