Looking for a place to have a picnic lunch after the Corvette Museum and before visiting the Lost River Cave. This is a park along Cave Mill Road. The full name of the park is Bark Park at H.P. Thomas Park. It is off the north side of the road and has a large area to the entire park. There is a small parking lot with spaces for about 20 cars. There is a building overlooking a green that has bathrooms and several tables under the patio away from the parking lot and overlooking the fields. The sign for the park was slightly hidden by the overgrown shrubbery. There are large fields directly in front of the building and a dog park that is off to the left as you face away from the road. The dog park seemed rather busy with many people parking and bringing their furry family for playtime at that part of the park. It was a very pleasant place for a picnic with convenient facilities and good location under cover. A solid place for a pleasant break in the Bowling Green area.

The small dog park seems to be empty more often than not so I end up taking my dog in the big dog area a lot. There's a middle section of the large dog park with a big fence blocking a muddy area. It's been there for a year with no change so I don't know what's going on. Otherwise, I've had great experiences at this dog park!

Mountain View's with lovely fog today. There is a shared cover that allows both sides to chat with cover over head like a bar has. Nice! I decided that since my "dog wrote a book on dog parks" I should try to come up with something I would improve on. All I can say is that gates should swing into the dog park sections so when someone arrives the excited dogs don't spill out into the leashing up/unleashing areas. The first gate does that, but gates to the two sections swing out. No biggie, but if it were mine I would change the swing. I'm tired from the road trip so I'll let my photos speak for themselves. (I could write more like how I guess horses walk around here, but seriously I did 300 miles today and still have more to go.) I added this dog park to Yelp today since it wasn't there yet. This is your basic dog park next to your human park. It's very nice tho that there's 2 fenced in…read moreareas. One for small dogs and one for large dogs. There's waste bags. Not everyone uses them unfortunately. They keep the entire park mowed and it's been kept up well. The dog fountains are super awesome to have. We brought his own water dish just because we've dealt with kennel cough a few months back and are worried he will catch it again. Our boy was very distracted by the people mowing so he wound up laying under a tree. The shade is very helpful for a day like today. There's 2 benches to sit on in the small dog area and 3 for the large dog area. There's a play area for kids and there's a walking trail that's paved that goes around the entire park. The signs to the dog park are pretty non existent tho. You'll find it, just not right away. It's in the back corner of the park. The sign that says Meadowbark points to the right and makes you think the pasture gated behind the park is where you are supposed to go lol, but it's to the left and past the bridge and past the walking trail. I don't know why that sign is there. The sign by the road is small as well. We passed it and had to turn around the first time here. This main park is Meadowbrook Park. We would come back again if we're ever this way again. Overall 8/10.

We've driven past this park numerous times, but never officially stopped to visit, until today! The…read moreentrance for the park is right behind a Dairy Queen drive-thru which can act as a bonus treat for walking this loop a few times. There's a creek that runs alongside of the walking trail and a small grouping of trees at the end of the loop. These offer some shade and two swinging benches to take a quick break from the summer heat. Beyond that this trail is mostly in the sun, but stays flat the entire way. It's great for running, dog walking or teaching kids how to ride a bike away from traffic. There is an open field area that I guess you could have a picnic on, but you're right next to Mt. Juliet rod so there's a lot of noise traffic noise. Plus there are also two wetland sections that I'm sure have a ton of mosquitos. Maybe just get in a few quick laps here and take off. According to my phone, one lap around is 2,500 steps. Get into it!
