Terrible place to bring you dogs too. They don't care about your little one and they have proven this to me today. What hurt me the most was finding cuts and blood on him on his head and on his private areas. On top of that I brought my Scottish Terrier for a Scottish terrier cut and my dog came out looking like a rat. Jessie has been amazing when it comes to my two pups and my family. I have 2 chiweenies. The older one is a bit high maintenance as she needs a shave down every 6 weeks, she has rear dew claws which easily become ingrown if I don't stay on top of it, she requires cotton in her ears for a bath because she's susceptible to ear infections AND she needs her anal glands drained each time as well other wise they will burst. Jessie is always happy to cater to her needs, where as my other chiweenie just goes in for a bath and a nail cut. Being the responsible adult I am I always wait until last minute to call Jessie and get an appt. she has always gladly taken my pups the very next day without an issue.. ever. Also Bark City is unique in the fact that they let the dogs run freely around the grooming facility to socialize and play with one another. Unless of course a pup acts up and is being naughty, or doesn't feel well etc. I really like that a lot! To know my babies aren't locked in a cage for 8 hours just waiting for me to come get them really helps. Another thing, whenever my pups are ready she will always send the cutest message. It's a picture of my dog talking telling me she's ready!! It's another little detail I really like! When I pick them up they always have the cutest seasonal homemade bows on and always smell absolutely amazing. Bark City and the owner Jessie have really come up with a great little neighborhood grooming spot that is always affordable (half the price of Petsmart), and unique in all the minor little details that I always really appreciate. Unfortunately the customer service has gone down and the price has gone up. I left an anonymous tip to the owner on the payment and was immediately called and made to listen to the associate get defensive about her behavior and my experience. I can understand calling to apologize for not meeting expectations but not calling to defend their actions. We won't be back to this location because it would just be weird to have another interaction like that. The first 4 times we went were great but the associate working really left a bad taste and we can get better service elsewhere. I've been to this place before and I will admit, they dont do a horrible job, but not fantastic neither. The staff was always nice and I believed the owner/main lady working there genuinely cares for animals. BUT let's just say this last time was terrible. I sent a picture of what I wanted, and received nothing of the sort. My dog is no more than 5 lbs and she is a yorkie. She looked a mess when I picked her up! I asked if they could round out her face (LIKE THE PICTURE) and was told that her hair was thin and she has a different facial structure, and she needed fish oil for healthy hair, and blah blah blah. MAM, why is it so hard to not leave her stringy and homeless-looking!! Then I asked to clean up her legs (which they did not do prior). the lady cut off the bell-bottom pattern (which another employee noticed because I saw her facial reaction). Mind you, they are the ones who gave her this bellbottom pattern in the first place. So not only is her face a mess, legs no longer in the cut bell-bottom cut, they proceed to cut the top of her hair - WHICH I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THEM NOT TO. One of the employees came out with my dog (no bow because the owner took the bow back) and said there was nothing else they could do. She looks a MESS and she has nick marks all over like I gave her a cut with my husband's clippers!!! I won't be returning and I will tell all my friends that I referred there, not to go! They only get 1 star because when she brought my dog out, she stated I would get a refund!! I'll be checking my bank account for that! Awful place ! Please don't bring your poor babies here! My dog was sexually assaulted ! They let a male dog mount and penetrate her and my vet thinks they forcefully pulled him out of her which is very dangerous and painful for both animals! They completely denied it but she came home very swollen !!!! They refunded my money plus some! Guilt money! Also she wasn't groomed by the person I requested her hair cut is terrible and she has a big cut under one ear! We took my dad's dog, Jackson, to be washed, groomed and de-furred and Bark City did an outstanding job. Jackson is a large Golden Retriever/Lab mix and he's not used to being groomed. I have been bringing my Morkie here since he was 4 months old, today he only got a bath. I only let ONE person in this facility cut his hair because everyone else does not do it right. There is always a bunch of dogs loose in there but I looked past that because of how good Markie cuts his hair. Today as I said he only got a bath, when my mother went to pick him up he was being wiped of his head by a employee my mom saw blood and asked what happened, the lady I'm not sure of her name replied nothing just wiping him up, that was sketchy because why would he need to be wiped if he just had a bath?? They guy that's an employee there said it may have been the clippers keep in mind he didn't get a hair cut... so why would clippers be involved.. I called the owner and was talked to in a very disgusting manner I didn't go off accusing anyone because maybe another dog could have done. I had to take him to the vet because the owner kept yelling he had that when he got there or he has warts. If that was the case why not call and say you noticed a laceration on his head when I took him to pet smart the vet said he has a laceration that is fresh and would need skin glue and antibiotics 58$ extra dollars that I think was only right for BARK CITY to pay for since this happened in there facility. When I called the owner back talking a peaceful as possible I was called stupid, and told to stop calling her.. I would not recommend this place because you can spend your hard earned money here and be handled like shit. read more

I do not usually write things like this but I felt I had to. Although they do a decent job on the grooming (Golden Retriever and Golden Doodle). Despite my asking them to please protect their ears from water while bathing them they do not. Within a week of being groomed they are at the vet with ear infections (this has been the case on three separate occasions). The place wreaks of urine/strong ammonia smell when you walk in the door. Dogs all over the place roaming free in the grooming area pooing and crapping everywhere. I recently boarded my two dogs here for 4 nights. When I picked them up they smelled so bad I had to drive home with the windows down. Needless to say I bathed them once I got home. I had just had them bathed at my vet's office three days before dropping them off for boarding. Since my arrival home my Golden Doodle has been vomiting and having diarrhea. My vet fears they picked something up while there for boarding. My dogs are both really healthy and really good eaters. My retriever has barely eaten and my Doodle has not eaten at all. Given the state of the front area which is seen by the public, I can only imagine what the boarding area and outside area must have been like. Needless to say I will never return to this place. On a positive note, I have enjoyed the videos that they send out when your dogs are ready to be picked up and the little bandanas with their name on it is nice. read more

Well I went to Bark city to get my dog groomed. The experienced was terrible! I have a papillon and everybody know that they are longed hair and double coated. I'm speechless with the way they groomed my dog. Even when I reached to the owner she told me I was a troll. Never offered to apologize or even issue a refund. Jessie was very aggressive and as a professional I thought she would've handled the situation differently! Before coming to bark city my dog had the most beautiful coat and never shed. The first time I took my dog here, I thought I was robbing the owner, not the other way around! I was paying $85 for the same service at Petco, where they stuck my dog in a kennel for hours on end before getting to her. $45 for a full groom and hair cut? Sign me up! Owner is friendly and responsive. My dog looks good and smells fresh when I pick her up. Here, well-socialized dogs are free to roam in the back, lay on the sofas, etc. with other dogs instead of being stuck in a kennel. Very happy customer. read more

I recently moved down here and didn't know where to take my 3 year old Shih Poo. She normally does not like going to grooming salons because they normally lock them in a cage after the dogs are bathed. However, here, they let the dogs interact (with the same sized dogs) and chill out while they wait for their owners to come get them. They even sent me a cool video and picture of her relaxing with one of the groomers when she was ready for pick up! Wonderful service and the haircut was great for the price. I dropped my dog off at 9am, the lady asked me if I needed her back at a certain time , I told her the only thing I had to do was pick my son up from football at 4pm, she responded by saying" Good cause I don't feel like working today, as long as you are here before 6."They text me at 3:41 PM and I didn't see the text until four when I arrived at practice to pick up my son Because I was driving. I dropped off my son and headed straight there on a Friday afternoon to O'Neill from Denham Springs so I arrive there around 5:05 PM. I paid for my service and walked out but before leaving the parking lot I noticed her face was so unevenly cut her legs were so choppy she had long strands of hair's here and there it was just the most horrible job I have ever seen done. So I calmly called and let her know that it was a horrible job and she responded by cursing me out and telling me how I waited so late to pick up my dog which I didn't understandBecause they didn't call me till almost 4 and she told me as long as I'm there before six and it was 505 when I arrived. I also noticed they clipped her ear and she never told me anything about it. I have pictures to prove it.After two weeks of calling I finally got the owner Jessika on the phone and she didn't wanna hear anything I had to say she told me I insulted her employees which as a business owner I just would want to know the truth if I gave a service and they weren't satisfied. I've tried many many grooming services in Baton Rouge for my cat, and this place has provided the worst and the most incompetent grooming service. My boyfriend dropped our cat off at her house around 1PM and I picked her up around 6PM. When I got there, the first thing I noticed was that our cat's grooming was not complete at all and she was about to hand me my cat. She told me how fussy and aggressive our cat was. It was very shocking to me considering the fact that our cat is very relaxed, friendly and sweet. She even told me how chill our cat was when my boyfriend dropped her off. That's how our cat usually is. Like I said, we've tried many many grooming services, including petco, petsmart, pet parlor, my vet's office etc., and we never even had to sedate our cat. That's how calm our cat usually is when getting groomed. Then, I guess she noticed that I wasn't satisfied at all with her work, she asked me to help her holding my cat down so she could do a better job. At one point, I was grooming our cat myself because she wasn't doing it properly. As i was holding my cat, i noticed that more than half of my cat's WHISKERS were gone, her hair was unevenly shaved all over her body and ,later, I found some scratches around her elbows and around/on HER NUB (my cat has 3 paws) No wonder why our cat was so frightened and aggressive towards her when she touched her whereas our cat wasn't aggressive towards me when I touched her. IT IS A BIG NO NO TO CUT CAT'S WHISKERS and she asked me, "do you want me to cut the whiskers on the other side and even them out so they look prettier?" I cried. I was so in shock that my cat had to go through this. Usually, scruffing my cat doesn't bother me depending on the situation and the way people scruff my cat. The way she was scruffing my cat gave me such bad anxiety that i had to stop her and tell her we're done. I did tell her respectfully that she's not supposed to cut cat's whiskers because they lose senses and they don't grow back. Later when I got home and did some research, cat's whiskers do grow back which made me feel a tiny bit better but it is still a HUGE no no to cut cat's whiskers because cats can be very disoriented and lose their touch senses. I literally cried so much in front of her and when i came home to my boyfriend. She did refund the money back to me like she's supposed to. At least she knew she did such a horrible job. She was a very sweet lady and I'm sure she didn't do any of those on purpose but it is a BUSINESS. The lack of her knowledge and the incompetent skills on grooming a cat was very shocking. SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THAT 30 DOLLAR GROOMING SERVICE FLYER, I WOULD NOT FALL FOR IT. BECAUSE I DID AND REGRETTED SO MUCH. It was one of those moments that made me realize you get what you pay for. I will never go to this place ever again because I never ever want to put my baby (cat) through another horrible experience like this or damage myself emotionally. (P.S. I'm only speaking about grooming a cat so I don't know how well she skilled she is when grooming dogs) read more

Petsmart kept giving me the run around for my senior pup. This place was recommended to me by a friend so I figured I would give them a shot. They are conveniently located and very responsive to text and phone calls! Me and my pup were very pleased with the friendliness they offer! I even got a personalized little video of my baby letting me know she was finished being groomed & ready for pick up whenever I could come. I didn't feel rushed to come pick her up(even though I was eager to get to her). Oreo suffers from anxiety and she was so calm when I went to get her. However, my dog came back all with her hair all chopped up and shaved down way too close to the skin in different areas. She looks horrible.
