I've used Bark Central for about 9 years now, sometimes for daycare and sometimes for boarding. My dogs have always been THRILLED when we pull up to the door, which tells me a lot. The staff makes a great effort to know the individual dogs. I appreciate seeing their pictures on FB, especially if I am out of town. We have boarded our 11 year old dachshund and 8 year old.border collie here twice now. One for a weekend and the second time for almost 2 weeks. The border collie especially loves it here. We pick him tired! He loves to run around. Our dachshund is older and loves people more than other dogs, she doesn't seem distressed when we pick her up. From what we have been told, she hangs by the front desk a lot. I like that they give dogs the options! They do really cute extras for the dogs like Santa pictures, and post pictures daily so you can see your little ones while away. Dropped my dogs off for their free 3 hour trial period! It looks like a converted house so they have separate rooms for different types and sizes of dogs. They are doing some room renovations. They have a grass area for potty time and they have pools! There's a raised pool and a lower pool (uh-oh! My husky will be coming home soaked! & tired (: ) I LOVE that it's half a mile from our house! The prices seem to be reasonable! $49 for both my dogs for one night. Amanda is great! She watches over a ton of dogs and has a good handle on things, she seems to work well with the dogs. Can't wait to drop off my pets for the weekend and have them completely tuckered! read more

Bark Central has been a life saver! We had our baby girl and our fur baby Thunder wasn't getting as much as attention as before and then we found Bark Central. Thunder loves going here, he drags you inside as soon as you let him out of the car. The staff is always excited to see him and greets him everytime like he is theirs. They some how remember every single dogs name and I like that. They also post pictures during the day so you can check in and see what your fur baby is up too :)! I was also worried that Thunder might not get along with the other dogs because he has so much energy and can be too much sometimes but they are good at knowing who is the more high energy pups and pairing them together in groups. Very pleased with owner and staff. I needed to find a place for my puppy for two weeks with very short notice. Bark Central was not only more affordable than many other kennels in the area and on the military post (over $10 cheaper a day), but they were also more accommodating to puppies than many of the others. They take puppies with up to date shots and still allow your puppy to socialize with other dogs despite not being neutered/spayed, since they are not yet old enough. Before I made the boarding reservation, the owner allowed my puppy to spend a cost free day in the daycare to ensure he did well there and was a good fit. While I was out of town, the staff sent me photos and video of my puppy and updates on how well he did at night, etc. When I brought my puppy home he did not have any signs/symptoms of kennel cough and was still very well adjusted and happy. How does a dog tell you that this is a great place? Well, Boo Radley began by getting excited as we turned the corner on her second day of day care. By the second week, she was baying in the car when we were within ten blocks. Now Boo Radley is as excited when we get off the freeway exit as she is when I walk in at the end of the day. That's Boo Rad's perspective. My enthusiasm is shown slightly differently, but not any less. The owners are conscientious so I know there are no dogs without shots there. They are personable and welcoming. This is a great facility. I tell my friends, it's like an old Victorian house, cleared out and decorated for a dog party. A place for the "smalls", a place for the "big dogs", a doggie door that leads to two big yards and one small one so there's ample room for good dog pack fun. I've even seen a few "smalls" in some Zen meditation on little dog beds in a quieter room. Boo Radley would have no interest in that, she is 1000 miles a minute. BUT, when I come to pick her up, she hops in the car and goes straight into nap time. What else could I ask for? My dog was well taken care of, I'm updated and welcomed when I arrived, my dog got to run around and frolick with her buddies all day, and she's relaxed at the end. I went here off the reviews and a recommendation of an old coworker. Let me tell you I was NOT happy or impressed. I took my 2 dogs in for the initial trail period. 1, a pretty happy-go-lucky blue heeler (about 7 months). The other a mixed dog who is kind of skittish (1.5 years). The trial period runs anywhere between 1-3 hours. I advised them that one was skittish. They recommended 3 to help with exposureand adjustment. I got to the place after 2.5 hours. I pulled in, exited my car and started hearing him whine. I could see his nose and paws under the fence line. I went back into my car, didn't lock it (he knows what it sounds like) and waited. Watched. He paced the fence. Back and forth. Back and forth. I waited to see if he would stop, if someone would correct the behavior. It got worse, faster pacing, nose and claws digging under the fence. He already knew I was there. I went inside to get him. He was soaking wet from being outside in the rain. The girl smiled and said "he's really skittish!" and I said "yes I know..." They had to clear the room of dogs to get him to come inside. As soon as he saw me from the window, he bolted for the door and into my arms. The girl said "he's really skittish! He stayed inside for maybe an half an hour before finding his way out into the dog yard. He stayed out there the entire time and either paced or Sat by the fence. A few more visits and he should love it here!" I was told my heeler did well after about 30-45 mins and then there was no other information. I grabbed my dogs and left after a "see you again soon!". Having worked at a daycare, I know what it's like to watch dogs and read behaviors. The fact that they didn't bother to call me to tell me he wasn't improving is one thing. I get it. Trial period. But to not even try and correct his anxious behavior (which other dogs catch on to and start fights) is ridiculous.I get it. Skittish dog and possibility to bite. Regardless, you should know how to handle dogs if that happens. But tell it to me straight: is my dog fit for daycare? Obviously not quite but I definitely won't find out there. read more

I called to set up an arrangement for bringing in my dog. My company in the last minute was flying me out of town the next morning. When we talked on the phone, she was going to meet me here at this business after hours because it was in the last minute. She agreed to meet me here as long as I got here within 20 minutes. Got here within 20 minutes in the place is all locked up. I called the telephone number 2-3 times and left messages and waited in the parking lot for 20 minutes. No phone call; no text; nothing. If you agree to meet someone and then change your mind, at least have the common courtesy of calling them up and telling them you changed your mind! Instead I've had to drive all the way out here and find nobody here. Complete waste of time. If this is an indication of how they do customer service, I highly recommend you avoid this place. read more

I have a new puppy & commute to Seattle for work every day so it was important to find an amazing day care. Bark Central's owner is very knowledgeable & genuinely vested in every dog there. My puppy, Savvy, is an Italian Greyhound & I was concerned she would be hurt by a big dog or end up with a scary puppy illness from germs. She has been going for two wks & it's such a relief to drop her off & know that she is safe, socialized, & I'm not going to come home to a destroyed house & a stressed pup. I love that I get to give a report when I drop off, from a little allergic reaction to behaviors I want to correct, & get a report on everything when I pick her up, from how much she's eaten, how she walked up stairs for the first time, to who she's played with. Bark Central was the first daycare willing to give my dog a trial. (He can be territorial when I'm around but is fine when I'm not.) He passed his trial with flying colors (as I knew he would) and stayed two weeks at Bark Central while I was away on a trip. Every interaction I've had with the staff has been awesome. I'm really impressed by their kindness. I was hesitant about the price--$27 per day for boarding--but I love that my dog was able to basically have free daycare along with his stay. That alone was worth the price. The difference between this dog vacation and the last was stark. The last stay involved Boss basically living in a large dog pound-type cage all week and being let out three times a day to pee. He was extremely anxious and eager to leave when I came to pick him up. This time around, he was happy to see me, but he was well exercised and calm. He made a lot of friends. Well, what else can I say? I love my dog, I care about giving him the best experience I can afford, and I will definitely take him back to Bark Central. read more

Our big boy, Tarly, gets to play with dogs of all sizes and comes home completely tired out, and is more than happy to return the next morning, which has not always been the case at other daycares! My dog Bert and I were in town for a few months and I needed a place that Bert could go to while I worked and board when I was away. Bark Central turned out to be a blessing. We passed a few other places to get to this one but it was worth the trip. The staff are incredibly friendly and Bert's tail always started to wag once we made it to the parking lot. Bert came home tired and happy :) They are on top of making sure everyone is up to date on vaccinations. I had my two dogs teeth cleaned by the visiting vet service. They did this without anesthesia. It took about 20 minutes for each dog. Their teeth were immaculate. One dog was 12 yrs old and she handled the procedure quite well. I highly recommend this, especially for older dogs. read more

I have a rough coated collie and she was blowing her winter coat and had been out playing in the mud. She was a mess. When I brought her in, they were super nice to her (and me) and when I got her back a few hours later, she was a new dog: bathed, brushed, hair cut and nails trimmed. Just started to do reviews on yelp, so going back to places that I've done business with in the past. I took my little dog there for a look over at the place, have to say it smell clean and look clean. Being this was the first time leaving my little one, didn't know all questions to ask. I wasn't told to have a meet and greet to see how my dog does with the dogs they already have there. The plan was to boarder her for the weekend. I have to say they had a lot of dogs there, it was difficult to walk around as the little dogs were were crowed together trying to follow you. They do put the little dogs on one side of the house and the bigger dogs on the other side. Most of the bigger dogs were on their hind legs looking who was coming in and out of the front door. The other ones pacing back and forth for a place to lay. There was only one lounge chair and no pillows or matts for them to lay down and chill, they do have doggie door so the dogs can go outside. So the friendly staff did tell me they would crate bella for feeding times and she would also be crated at bedtime which was 7pm. So after three days, and finally pickup time, my dog was looking like she was just dog tired like she didn't get any sleep,she didn't respond to me when I first seen her, ok so I'm thinking she just piss at me right? When we got home she just crash out and slept, after a couple of hours, I noticed she had a horrible cough, took her the vet the next day, she was diagnose with kennel cough and dehydrated. My vet stated this is from over crowding , and drinking from the same bowl. read more

Although I will say the grooming is good, I can not recommend. After picking my dog up from three nights of boarding I had some questions about the charges as my bill was quite a bit more than I was expecting. After the sweet lady at the front desk called the manager to double check, the only explanation I was given was "Yes the charges are right." I asked to talk to the manager to get the breakdown, since she was the one who I had discussed rates with when dropping off my dog. When she got on the phone she interrupted me before I even finished saying who I was and broke down the charges then told me she didn't want to hear what I had to say and that I could just pay the charges, take my dog, and not bother to come back. Horrifying!! No way to deal with customers. read more
