Name changed to Huntwood Cabinets. Their product quality is pretty good, their customer service is lacking. I am a repeat customer and this time I bought a partial garage set of cabinets and countertop that is in their display in the front of the store. I was told these pieces are sold separately and the countertop is not finished. I was told I needed to finish and stain myself. Ok, no problem. After going in numerous times taking measurements and color determinations, I now have completed my room for the installation and make the purchase. When I pick up, the countertop is just a large butcher block, a different type of wood and larger than the display. I am now being told I am buying one off the floor in the lumber room and I can have it cut and routed at additional cost. Additionally, they don't carry the maple that is on display. To their credit, when I got angry, they gave me the display countertop so my colors matched in my room. I had already purchased maple wood trim from Windsor Plywood. I have now been generally satisfied but it took some doing. I would give 3 to maybe 4 stars for this transaction.
However...
Yesterday, shortly after noon, March 5, 2020, I went in for some info on the hanging cabinets for that same set and asked the guy at the front desk if it's possible to get them custom made for the color to be the same as the pieces on the floor. I was told yes, but I would need to meet with a designer. I am now getting attitude from this guy. I said ok, that's fine. He just stood there. I get it, you don't want my business and it makes no difference to your paycheck. No witnesses. So I left.
I have color matched the cabinets and can paint another set to match. I have other options. Additionally, My plan was to buy an additional complete set for my garage later this month. This previously purchased set was for my hobby room. Now I am not so sure. In all the times I have been in here this past year, there is no sales pressure, which is great, but there also seems not to be a real concern on whether they sell to you in the first place.
I do see a culture problem, or maybe it's a management problem. But in smaller cities such as this, it may just be you have to take the help you can get.
They do have one friendly employee that I know of, with a good attitude. His name is Russ. He works in the back and helped load my trailer. His good customer service attitude should instead have him on the floor helping with customers.
My name is Byron Clark, and I stand behind this review. read more
