This review is more about Bargain Hunt as a whole and not the particular store. I miss the days of old where you could find a great deal or such a verity of items in one trip. When prices changed based on how long they have been sitting on the shelf. Now it's feeling like a big lots in a lot of ways with more banged up items. You still are able to find some deals but not in the same way as before. And the new $7 bin on Friday are a fun concept but I've never been able to make plot there on a Friday morning to see if it's worth it. Something's amiss. Is this store changing focus? Originally structured like Filene's Bargain Basement: the longer an item sits, the lower the price. While there are plenty of items with the date code, there are a good number that don't have it. Why quibble? Well, without the date, the price remains as posted, without reductions. And to tell you the truth, sometimes the sticker price is no bargain! Also ... are they selling used clothing? To know me is to know I love thrift stores. But when I go to a store selling second or returned merchandise, I don't expect to see obvious thrift store items. For instance: a Gap oxford shirt, with someone's laundry tag attached to the label! The customer service and integrity leave a LOT to be desired. This store practices some deceitful pricing games by swapping new dates onto merchandise to avoid selling for those 70-90% discounts. If you question them you'll get a very trained and rehearsed corporate response about their "price refreshing". It is a violation of a social contract of trust that a consumer has with a retailer. I like to shop and absolutely love a bargain, but I don't frequent these stores often because of the way things are displayed (everything is all over the damn place ). This place had stuff every where, this was not my first visits to this store, I visited it at the top of the year and things seemed pretty organized at the time, well somewhat, but I was OK with it. On this visit things were completely out of control.... LOL, but I did get a bargain. I was out looking for a pressure cooker and I found a really great one at a bargain price per Amazon. The Instant Pot pressure cookers are priced around $138.00 on Amazon and I picked up one at $87.00. At first I was undecided about making the purchase, but some guy was standing there beside me waiting for me to walk away from it, he told me that he has been eyeing it and if I wasn't going to get it, he would. That was my moment of truth...... He was not going to get my pressure cooker..ha,ha,ha!!! I also purchased a Cuisinart Griddle 5 in 1 it was like $70 as well and both work. They also had a huge selection of yoga pants & Jackets( tangerine & Kirkland brand ) ranging from $10 to $15. Sam and Libby shoes @ $10, home decor, camping gear, luggage, tablets, furniture and the list goes on and on. The appliances and shoes were the worst areas to shop, but I guess its worth the value. All items have dates on them, the later the dates are on the items the more percentage you get off on them unfortunately the items I purchased were recent items so I didn't get an additional discount. They get items in everyday so things are consistently changing. Recap: As you know, the store is messy in some areas, but the service is great, very friendly and prices are also great! Name Brand clothes, foods especially non gmo etc...at a fraction of the cost. Most of the food only has two or three months left on the expiration date. I was in the food business for 15 years and I can tell you the expiration date does not mean anything. If you can overlook that and just rotate your stocks accordingly you will come out winning. I discovered the store about three years ago and now I shop between three of them Kennesaw, Dalton And Chattanooga. Kennesaw by far has a super loaded store comparatively. Update: this store has changed quite a bit since it opened. It is now dirty, unorganized, a mess, and the prices are no longer great. They eliminated the old pricing model, and now things can sit for 6 months without selling which makes it more crowded and chaotic. The bathrooms are disgusting and usually at least one toilet and one sink are broken. Still fun to go take a look sometimes, but it's no longer the real treasure hunt it once was. Never been in a Bargain Hunt, so not sure what to expect. This place feels like a Goodwill, and I'm guessing that's what it's supposed to feel like? But dirty? Anyway, nothing exciting here except for the bedding options, which are great, but it's all Threshold or Nate Berkus from Target that they get after Target decides they can't sell it on their end caps. Bargain Hunt then marks out the price on the orange Target sticker, and from what I could tell, marks the price BACK UP. So, I'm basically feeling duped because if I'd just been lucky enough to get it at Target, I could have gotten it cheaper there than at the disgusting Bargain Hunt down the street. Also, on this particular day, the employees lined giant carts of merchandise up against the back wall of shelves blocking the bedding sets. No shopping those unless you wanted to squeeze behind the carts or haul them into the middle of the aisle. This place is awesome, but bring your patience. It reminds me of Big Lots, but with name brands. This is a parent's dream come true for kids stuff. It's a little messy, but I didn't think it was too bad. Depending on how long items have been there (they are dated), they are discounted (see pic). The longer it's there, the higher % off you get! Its a discount store that recycles inventory from other retailers who didn't sell it the first time, whose inventory changes daily...its a mess, but thats ok. I like treasure hunting and there definitely are some good buys especially if you find something that has been in on the shelf long enough to warrant a nice additional 60-75% off. My recent yield: a few $3 Under Armour shirts, some DVDs for $1-$2 (including entire seasons of a few shows like sex and the city), shorts for about $5, wedged sandals for $10 etc. The house ware section is definitely a disaster, but just take it with a grain of salt and look at everything before you buy it. Some items may be missing, some may have been returned. (About 90% sure I won't buy a swimsuit there even if it is Speedo brand). Anyhow, they have a few in store specials of the day so happy hunting. read more

Nature's Own Cat food? About $13 bucks for a small bag. Picked up 3 bags here at BH at 3 to 5 bucks a piece. $400 dollar sony camera, I nabbed for $200. My recent purchase was a Laura mercier Face Book palette, which is something sephora grade and originally 59$. I got mine untouched for 10$. I make SURE I do my research on the items before I buy them aka what their original price is, what're it's ratings and so on. BH has a awesome no questions return policy so if you get some electronic or hat or some crap makeup and hated it, return it. ( I will say that their makeup bin is messy as heck and it all def needs to be tossed out because ppl open sh*t so you just have broken eyeshadows and lipsticks and yea it's pretty disgusting, but what do you expect? People are able to freely search as they please !) I like to come every weekend to see what else is new and they do put new things on the shelves and I can see that they TRY to organize the shelves ( trust me, I've come one weekend where the beauty aisle was mess city and the next weekend they tried to put everything in neat rows. But you have to realize customers just like to throw and toss stuff around and disorganize, hell if I was working there id be tired of organizing it right back after them!) When new items are put it on the shelf, they are expensive or not as great as a deal as people think it'll be, but that's the point. You WAIT and see if the price goes down. This place is like one giant bargain bin - you truly don't know what you will find here. Many of the items are overstock from other stores, returns, display models, or simply the box looks rough and so they liquidate it to Bargain Hunt. Keeping that in mind, you should make sure that you look at what you are buying before taking it home. They do offer a 30 day return policy just in case though. There are some real finds to be had if you take the time to look and are educated about what you are buying. Small kitchen appliances seem to be where you can get the best deals...Breville and Omega juicers for about 60% off retail. High end coffee and espresso machines for about 70% off retail. Also, they further discount items based on the time that the item has been on the shelves. They have electronics, clothes, toys, linens, cleaning products, and some beauty products. I bought some fleece blankets to keep in the back of my car just in case there is another Snowpocalypse here for only $6.99, normally around $20. Kohler toilet seat for $19.99. I saw a Thule roof top kayak rack system there that sells for $160 at REI for only $75. Be prepared to spend some time and dig to get a good look around...some days are better than others, but many times the shelves look like they were hit by a tornado. Just. Wow. I don't even know how to go about describing this place. It truly is a bargain hunt so you better come prepared to spend some time here. I didn't realize what I was getting myself into otherwise I would have allotted more time for this adventure. This place is a MESS. A hot MESS. I am sure that there are deals buried somewhere but I didn't see anything that knocked my socks off. Most of the things that I was interested in where broken/damaged. There is really no organization. The aisles are labeled with categories but you really have to go up and down each aisle as many things are out of place. I was impressed with the amount of baby stuff they had. I would definitely shop here for things like baby swings, gates, etc but I just don't need any of that stuff right now. Wish I had known about this place when I was shopping for that stuff. I was very interested in a jogging stroller but noticed that it was missing several accessories and didn't think that the price was that great to purchase it with missing parts. So buyer beware and really inspect things - especially if it's a large purchase. Also, given their price structure - the longer it's on the floor the deeper the discount - I have to wonder if they go and relabel some of the higher priced items so that they always have a current date They had the $700 Quinny stroller that Kari F. mentioned back in her review in March but the stroller still had a current date on it. I cannot imagine that they are always getting a supply of Quinny's. Anyway - I'm sure that there are treasures to being found at Bargain Hunt but sadly there weren't any for me on my first trip. This is a huge store full of everything you can think of.When you enter there are slips of paper that indicate what percentage you get off of each item. The longer an item has been in the store, the deeper the discount. I actually walked around the entire store, and nothing was such an unbeatable price that I could not live without it. I did notice that they had great prices on juicers, but I am not in the market for one. I also noticed that some of the times were over priced. Please do your research prior to purchasing. I read a bunch of the Yelp reviews of the store. My brother described it best, " it's like Big Lots meets Thrift Store." I don't mind the clutter. They had all sorts of products in there, but the fact that they had count chocula made my day! COUNT CHOCULA!!! And it was only $1.40 a box. I had to get 3 boxes. I shopped there for my first time two days ago and bought a game and a rice cooker. When we got home we opened the game and found out that the game was a used game. The pieces were already taken a part from the casing. The worst part was there were no playing pieces and no marbles that are also required. Two years ago, when this was a new store, I found some really great items at great prices. As the chain expanded, the bargains vanished. Instead of finding new items in great shape, all I see are damaged, used, "could find better and cheaper at the Goodwill" crap. I price check every single item I am interested in and now find that I can get new items on sale at Macy's, Kohl's, Home Depot or on Amazon for the same price or less than the tore up, missing pieces customer returns being recycled at Bargain Hunt. Also, they sell outdated Beauty items. I saw some Biolage shampoo in packaging discontinued more than 2 years ago priced at $20, the salon retail for current packaging is only $16. After I witnessed Joe the manager making fun of customers and behaving poorly on the front end (at a register) I decided to take my $$ elsewhere. read more

It was like a Goodwill had started using meth. The product was thrown, quite literally, onto the shelves. For people looking for gifts, this probably isn't the place for you. For people who are looking for awesome deals on lucky finds, there is no place better than here. I was waiting to get my nails done in the same shopping center and decided to take a look around. I ALMOST left empty handed before deciding to check out the furniture. I'm currently moving into a new apartment and have spent a fortune so far on furnishings. I found an amazing chair and a great coffee table for 60% off the price from bed bath and beyond. I even got incredibly lucky and found the end table within the same collection for a great price as well. The employees are very friendly and helpful. My cart got full very quickly with the large boxes and one of them took my cart to the front to hold for me and brought me an empty one. They offered to help haul everything to the car without me asking. Just because this is a discount/bargain store, they definitely don't skimp on their customer service. When checking out, the cashier told me about their no questions asked 30-day return policy. He said if anything at all was wrong -missing parts, scratches,etc.- I could bring it back for a full refund. I went through both boxes and every screw, bolt and washer was accounted for. Very impressed with this fantastic gem of a store! I couldn't tell you about any experiences with anything other than furniture because this was my first experience but I certainly plan on making several more trips before my move-out date! read more

My family and I went for the first time today to this location & we probably won't be back. The only person who greeted us was the cashier and we saw several employees playing around in the aisles, calling for a girl who was also constantly called to register by the one girl who was up front with a rush because I guess she was always away from her post? The first few times I went in they were using a date system to determine discount percentage. This did required a little work and effort, maybe even a calculator for some, but it was a good concept/model. I thought it was great, but for some reason, almost in a bait and switch kind of way, they changed. And now, it's just a very messy department store with mostly over-priced goods, some grossly over-priced. The LAST time i went in there, I was seeing out of date items priced higher than what I could buy fresh for at Walmart. I don't know who determines prices, but finding a real bargain in this place, at least the last couple of times I was in there, was like finding a needle in hay stack. the people that work here are extremely rude. specifically the manager i believe who's name is Lisa. I bought a christmas tree from this location not quite but almost a month ago and just now opened it to put it up for the holidays. when i opened it i noticed a whole section of the tree was missing. so basically i payed almost $40 for a 4 foot tree when i was told it would be 6ft. I called the store and let them know and also told them i no longer had my receipt . on the phone we were told that we could still bring it in to exchange which was fine with me. I go back to the store and when i get there lisa continues to tell me there's nothing she can do since i didn't have my receipt, and that i couldn't even exchange it . i let her know i still had my bank statement from buying it and i could show her but she was very quick to push us out of the store. save your money and go to walmart instead. read more

I was trying shirts on in the women's dressing room in Bargain Hunt yesterday evening with the curtain closed when a male employee walked in the women's dressing room and almost opened my curtain to the stall I was dressing in. I had to yell out, "Excuse me, there is someone in here!" because he had his hands up like he was going to open my dressing room curtain. He did not even announce that he was coming in or asked if anyone was in there. There should not be a man in the women's dressing room period. He knew that was the women's dressing room because he worked there. I talked to Terrence W., who I assumed was the manager because he was acting like the manager. I told him, "A male employee walked into the dressing room and almost opened my dressing room curtain, and that a male employee should not be allowed in the women's dressing room." Terrence said, "There is no women's or men's dressing room, it's all in one." I told him, "The women's side was marked "women's" and it was on the right, and the men's side was marked "men's" and it was on the left." Then Terrence said, "Well, we have to clean the clothes out of the dressing room." So I had to repeat myself again, "There should not be a man in the women's dressing room period." I felt very violated that the male employee walked into the dressing room when I was dressing. I will not be returning to Bargain Hunt again, and I will make sure everyone I talk to never goes to Bargain Hunt either. I can't believe this happened to me. read more

There are some occasional good deals, at least there were when they first opened, but now their prices are going up. I can often find items on sale elsewhere for less, and in much better condition in clean stores. For example that pressure cooker hot pot someone else posted? It's new and unopened and delivered to your door for less on Amazon. And I've seen employees actually trashing items as they put them out here. Why? I used to go by often as I found good deals here and there, but as time goes by the store is getting more trashed and the prices higher so I'm taking it off my discount store rotation. The employees are nice enough when they finally give you their attention, but are ALWAYS arguing and griping as I check out.
