We went on a Monday and it was happy hour all day + our bartender was Fred. He was super nice and attentive to everyone, some cheeky gay puns which I appreciated. It's very gay vibes obviously, nice picture slideshows on the TV. They have things going on everyday and we plan on going back on Wednesday for their underwear night (should be fun). So throughout the years I've had friends who have told me they were barred from this bar, which was hard for me to believe, as I had never been barred from any bar. To be honest, Barcodes has never been my favorite bars, other than for me to stop in, have a beer, and move to another bar to meet friends. My opinion of this place got worse back in 2018 when they had a gentlemen overdose and die in the back area by the picnic tables. I helped the bartender with CPR and instructed someone to wait out front to direct the Orange County Fire Department in to our exact location. After the fire department had escorted the decedent from the scene, the owner had showed up. I took the time to let the owner know what a good job I thought the bartender had done that was working, only to get a snarky comment and told to quit talking about it. Fast forward to 2018/2019 I was there and was pushed from behind into the bar and then pushed from behind again into the jukebox and as I turned around to defend myself the bartender jumped between me and the guy who had pushed me. I remained calm while the other guy was screaming at me and I never called 9-1-1 to report the battery and never contacted an attorney regarding the bar. In hind sight, maybe I should have done both. I then found out one of the employees who works in the store escorted the aggressor to his car and informed him where I worked and what I did for a living. I waited about four years and my friends wanted to go to Barcodes for one of their special events, so I reached out to the owner to see if I was welcome to return, which he said that I was. In February 2025 I had stopped in the bar and had one drink and when I went to get another drink from the bartender, there was a line on the pool table side of the bar. I then walked around to the far side of the bar where there was an opening to get my second beer. As I approached the vacant spot, an intoxicated off duty bartender, Christian, jumped up off his stool, started yelling at me to the point where he made a scene for the whole bar to see. Then the on duty bartender, Tom, started yelling at me to go to the other side of the bar, despite the puzzled and confused look on my face, as I never spoke to the intoxicated bartender when I went to get my second beer. I like to give business to gay establishes, however, I've discovered their customer service is usually horrible, as was in this case. I closed my tab and left. A couple weeks later a friend wanted me to meet him at Barcodes and when I showed up, I was informed by Tom that I was barred again. I have no idea what story Tom and Christian had concocted to tell the owner or if they had barred me on their own, however, if the owner really wanted to know the truth of what happened that night, there is video he could have watched. I would even suggest he pull my tab of only having one beer and pull Christian's tab to see who the intoxicate one was. I haven't figured out if it's the owner, the bartenders, or all of them who get off on barring people from the bar. Regardless, if the owner doesn't want people causing problems in his bar, his staff should be setting the example, whether on or off duty. Finally in closing, you don't have to take my word for it, there are plenty of other reviews on FB, Yelp, Google etc., that make it clear the staff is part of the problem. read more

I love barcodes. It's very unassuming and anyone is truly welcomed as long as you do your part (1 drink minimum- even if it's just a bottle of water) and you can stay and enjoy the inside bartender and patrons, play pool in the back of the inside bar, shop at the adult novelty store ( very fair prices and extremely convenient ), go outside and enjoy the colorful patio, great music, and conversation with friends, or head straight back to the adult playground for some fun fun ! it offers so much in a small space so it never feels empty . I suggest every gay man experience Barcodes - even if you're like me and don't particularly love a bar scene. Ive met some very cool friends and the service is excellent. The store is a bit pricey on the Andrew Christian underwear and lubes. They're reasonable with the poppers, er...um...fingernail polish remover. LOL! Their beer prices are reasonable as well. They take credit cards, which is awesome! They only sell beer and wine along with soft drinks. And they have a very cruisey back patio. Great gay bar that has been there for as long as I remember, but not as nor tortious as Hank's Bark, which is less than a mile up Edgewater Dr from Codes. Bartenders are very friendly there and they have the ever popular Underwear nights on Sundays and Wednesdays. If u get down to your underwear, they discount u $0.50 or $0.75 off your beer or something like that. read more

If you enjoy being in a gay dive bar with bartenders and patrons in their underwear, this is the place. They even have some lockers so that patrons can take their clothes off prior to bellying up to the bar. I sort of like the place. Everyone is super friendly and it has a real nice laid back atmosphere but frankly most of those in underwear would look much better in clothing, especially the one I saw wearing the dirty white underwear with a rather pronounced brown skid mark on the rear. Yuck! There are all kinds of flat screens with porn pictures, a good selection of draft beers at good prices, a store selling jock straps, various "video head cleaners," swim trunks and a number of "leather lite" items tending to be more novelty than what a real leatherman would be using. Then also an outside patio and dart board. On Tuesdays and Thursday they have karaoke and on some Saturdays live leather demonstrations and though not comparable to what one might see even at a casual gathering of Chicago Hellfire members, decent enough for training purposes, if you catch my drift. read more

They've made some great improvements, clean inside with a new hand washing station as you enter, smoking only outside on the newly covered open air patio, and freshly landscaped walking trail. Open at noon, The Store has lots of Andrew Christian underwear for sale and those novelty items most requested. Sundays and Wednesdays are Underwear Nights where you'll see those twinks and dilfs playing pool. It's still beer and wine only, but the the friendly atmosphere has attracted a new vibe since the Parliament House closed. Manic Mondays for $3 drinks at 8pm, Themed-Night Tuesdays for those who like fashion, and Throwback Thursdays for 80's videos, music, and Golden Girl clips. The bowling and softball teams hang out there after their games. It's laid back, parking is easy , and there's never a cover. And, you must wear a mask when moving around for good reason. read more

This is so far my favorite bar alongside the back bar at Parliament House. I went here once before on a Wednesday and had a great time for underwear night then went again on a Monday, after having had one beer and done at Hanks up the street. Bar Codes is a much better option than Hanks. Most of the offerings are the same, only cleaner and with a less-sketchy clientele. Pool table and a dart board, pinball machine, good internet jukebox with a good selection, and the usual shots of naked men on the televisions to keep you occupied when it's slow. There's a nice little store that sells novelties inside the bar. The Monday was slow but I was told it was usually busier, and the one dollar draft beers were a great deal. The bartender was really nice (and cute), I don't recall his name but he had glasses and said it was his first night working there. The ages of the customers seemed to be 35 and up which I prefer, but I was told they get a good mix of different ages, and it seemed to be regular locals who were friendly. There's a big patio out back with a fire pit and a strange fish pond, and a HUGE backyard area with seating and some interesting fenced areas. The place reminded me a lot of Hanks up the street, but bigger and better. Only complaints: the inside is really smokey, and they must have had the AC on full blast, it was cold inside. read more

Stopped in to this neighborhood bar for a couple beers on a Saturday night. Bartender was friendly and attentive. Beers were reasonably priced. Place is small, but pretty nice. My only problem, and it's a big one, is that this place allows smoking. It was early on a Saturday night and the place was already full of smoke. I don't begrudge anyone enjoying a cigarette as long as I don't have to smoke it with them. Going back is going to be a tough sell for me. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... MAKE THIS PLACE NON-SMOKING! I don't think so I've been in much darker dirty bars. and this one does not meet those specifications the bartenders are all friendly the patrons are friendly there's plenty of room to set and enjoy yourself and yes they do have certain nights that have special clothing options. In reading the reviews of the other guys on here I think their review speaks for itself about the kind of person they are . I enjoy going to this bar and I often drive from Jacksonville to enjoy the atmosphere and the patrons there. It is a Bears bar. Probably not the place for prissy snobs. read more

Terrible terrible place. We walked in being a younger group of guys and never been to the place we weren't sure what to do when we walked in so we were just walking around the bar checking it out and were going to checkout the patio area when the bartender walks up and says "we have a 1 drink minimum so I'm gonna need you to come buy a drink". Didn't bother to welcome us to the place as he could clearly see we had never been there before. He quickly ran us out of there. Not a place we felt welcomed in and no wonder the place was dead at midnight on a Saturday night. Great way to run business right out of your bar. Instead of letting us explore the place and at our own leisure come up to the bar and eventually get drinks he wanted us to get them right then. So instead of buying drinks we left. Terrible business tactic since we would have bought drinks after we did some looking around to get a feel for the place. It's not like the piece of crap place is offering me some amazing service that I'm benefiting off of for free that they need me to buy a drink. read more
