Barclays bank are quite a large bank in the UK, and around the world, being founded 325 years ago and since then earning a place in the FTSE 100 index on the London Stock Exchange. Talking more about this branch, once you have braced the more old-fashioned parts, the actual shop floor is quite nice and has been refurbished in the past year or two, and is much nicer than it previously was when I last seemed to go in. The bank also has free wi-fi, without a long sign-up required, although I'm sure you still need to confirm you want to join and perhaps an email address, but it is quick to set-up and good signal too, and could be used next store or even while waiting for the bus at the bus stop opposite, which I found to be helpful for me, having used by 2048MB of data allowance while waiting for a bus, wanting to connect to wi-fi to browse Yelp. The staff here don't seem to stand out, but they seem okay and nicer than some other branches I have visited, but they were just average. The staff are helpful and always ask the obligatory questions regarding account review? or try to sell you an isa or a new mortgage or something like that which can get annoying. However I don't think that is branch specific - I get that in EVERY natwest I visit! They have excellent disabled access so its great for me with my pushchair, and parking is OK, not immediately outside but there's a free carpark behind the building so its only a short walk. All in all, its a very useful friendly place - I would say that it is annoying that its open at 9 every day, but 9.30 on a wednesday. Why Wednesday has to be different i don't know and as a customer its confusing but then again its in a village so perhaps its just an old fashioned branch!

A lack of staff, ATM's and banking machines and a pretty old-fashioned feel of the store which is pretty small do counter into that, while also including the horrible opening hours where they not only open slightly later than average at 9:30 but they also close at 5 which is again slightly earlier than other banks, which is again frustrating to considering it isn't open on weekends. Not only was the store understaffed with little room for more staff at the counter, but service also seemed to move really slow and unlike other stores, there wasn't a separate and quicker queue to get pointed in the right direction perhaps with just a simple issue or query. 1*

It's in precinct centre and great for any bank work when you're right out of a lecture, considering most of the lecture buildings are right there! The bank itself has a very accommodating staff and its usually not as busy as the Natwest on Oxford Road. It's looks are also very professional and more modern than the other Natwest's amongst Wilmslow Road, which gives it a more posh look. The bank also has a cash machine inside and outside. It seems great for all students considering location and its not-so-busy atmosphere.

I was just thinking about how to start this review and was going to go with "I don't often go to…read morebank branches, but when I do..." and then I realized I was channeling the Dos Equis man. So let's not do that. Obviously, if I am in the city centre and need a bit of cash, I will seek out the Barclays machine, but I have found in the past 9 months, I have needed the services of the branch a bit more. It is a very modern looking branch with cash points outside as well as inside. There are other machines next to the cash points that are inside, but I'm not entirely sure what they are for. Every time I have been in it is very busy with a queue. My first visit actually resulted in being redirected upstairs for a staff member to assist us. Turns out my bank card had expired. Oops. I thought we would have to wait a considerable amount of time because of all the people in the waiting area, but the lady who was taking down names and reasons for the branch visit on her clipboard took us back to one of the desks and proceeded to help us. It went very quickly and the staff member was quite friendly. On my next visit, I needed to deposit a check (sorry... cheque)... but it was from the U.S. So I queued up and the first staff member pointed to one of the self-service kiosks, but I explained that I needed assistance at the International Banking desk. A second staff member came around and like the first one, tried to show me to a self-service kiosk, so I politely explained that I needed International Banking. And yet, a third staff member came over and tried pointing to the self-service kiosk, so I just held up the check. I get that the staff cannot do much since the self-service kiosks have taken over, but I think this branch needs to work on that balance as I found other customers to be quite agitated that there were all of these staff members to direct people and monitor the queue, but that they still had to stand in a queue to help themselves. The staff member at the desk was very friendly and explained that the check would take about a week to clear. On my most recent visit, I had some American dollars from my last visit to deposit into my account. Again, I needed the International Banking desk. Again, two separate members of staff tried to point me to one of the self-service machines. This time, only half (2 of 4) machines were working so the queue was really starting to build. Another problem with the queue is that there is one queue for both the International Banking desk and the self-service kiosks, so it makes it difficult for those who just want to use one of the self-service machines to to get by, especially with staff members trying to herd everyone into the same area. The staff member at the desk was a bit chatty, but was a bit snarky... perhaps a bit bitter about something. However, he was quick with the transaction. Overall, the branch has its good points and some of the staff are quite friendly and helpful, but I think it needs to find a balance with all of the staff who just seem to be loitering in the lobby while customers are queuing for some time.

I am a customer with barclays and I am generally very happy with their service. It is a standard…read morelayout to the inside of the bank. There are cash machines both inside and outside of the branch. Also, inside there is the usual set of cashier windows along with a section to the side where you can go and speak to an advisor. One of the newer features of this branch is that they have a desk in the open foyer area of the ank where you can just walk up and ask simple questions about anything barclays related. I have used this many times when I have had a query with my account. Another good addition to the branch is that they have introduced a few new machine that allow you to enter your bank card and view your account information such as statements within the branch itself. Sometimes though, these machines can be out of order which can be quite frustrating if you are going into the branch with the specific intention of using one of them.

There were Pleanty of staff working the counter and walking about ready to help. Lots of leaflets and banking notes all around explaining there products. Overall a very good branch and very welcoming branch I felt that they treated me as an idividual customer even though it is not my regular branch.
