I had to pick up my belongings from my car after crashing it, and the experience at this towing/junk yard was awful. I waited around 45 minutes just for someone to take me to my vehicle. While I was trying to gather my USB drive and personal items, one old b***** working there told me to "stop f****** around" and hurry up. (He had a long crusty white beard) anyways Before that, another employee looked at my wrecked car, said I "f***** it up bad," and giggled about it. I was clearly already having a terrible day and in bad shape emotionally, but there was absolutely no sympathy, professionalism, or basic human decency from the staff. If someone just went through a crash, the last thing they need is to be mocked and rushed while collecting their belongings. *********WARNING********* I'm only giving it a star because I have too. Barber's Towing and Storage has been a complete nightmare. After I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident and rushed to the hospital, they towed my bike without ever being notified by Knightdale Police or Barbours. I went back next day and bike was gone. I searched for a few days and finally was able to track it back to Barbours. a few days passed storage fees continued to pile up when they had no authorization to store the bike legally anyway. I've made multiple attempts to contact, plea with them and they have been rude and nasty during this horrible time. I have medical documentation stating I am unable to return to work for at least four more weeks, which they are fully aware of. Despite this, they have refused to show any flexibility or compassion and have instead rushed to start the lien process. I've been in the office twice with my crutches and cast. This is a 2021 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200cc with only minor damage, a bike I paid nearly $10,000 cash for and worked extremely hard to own. She is sharp bike. Rather than giving me a reasonable opportunity to recover, return to work, and reclaim my property, they appear intent on selling my motorcycle out from under me. This company seems more interested in profiting from someone's misfortune than doing the right thing. No communication, no understanding, and no willingness to work with an injured customer. I wish I could give it zero. They were given a quick tire repair by my emergency roadside assistance. They called initially friendly and said would be there and would probably have a way to air it up. They then called and asked a few questions about vehicle and said that flat bed wouldn't work, would contact after locate smaller truck. Then there was no contact and they cancelled the order. However they billed the insurance for an hour worth of work that they did not do and said they told him to pull it to another location so they could access it. All untrue. This place is night and day from the last tow yard I went to. Must be the difference in location and the "family" owned business. On Thursday September 26, the front desk woman was the opposite of compassionate. I understand policy but when you can barely walk she never mentioned my husband could have driven me up the hill. Only one person was allowed back and o had to crawl up a hill with broken bones. We returned on Saturday September 28 to retrieve the license plate. It sure would have been nice if the woman at the front desk who does this for a living had told us this fact. Upon our second visit we were told my husband could drive us up the hill. After waiting with our five year old for twenty minutes we finally were allowed to drive up the hill. Funny as they let him take the plate off and didn't speak one word to us. So... previous only I could go back there but then it doesn't matter once we wait twenty minutes! If you are going to enforce a ridiculous policy at least enforce it consistently. December 15, 2021, I wrecked my Lexus, which I recently bought in May of the same year. Because this was a Lexus with 22-inch chrome rims, I was concerned about which towing company picked it up, especially having to trust them with my keys also. Because I was coming from my late-night shift, and the police said that he had to get it out of the street asap, I didn't have time to research "Barbour's Towing and Truck Repair" for details, like their reviews. The driver worked professionally, by promptly removing my car from the street and the parts from out of the street, but that's where the professionalism began and ended. When I went to see my car, there at their tow yard, I noticed my car parts were placed in the back, although I didn't see my brand new jumper cables and a black bag that I placed back there. Being stressed, I forgot I had them back there until I had to get all my belongings out because it was totaled. When I called, Barbour Towing and Truck Repair, and talked to the same man I spoke with previously, when I was there, as he pretended that he didn't remember me, so I described my car, then he vaguely remembered. The only question I had was, what is the name of the driver who picked up my car on January 15? Instead of answering a simple question, he began defending himself by saying my car was there for only one day when it was actually there for three. I then told him that I didn't want or need to discuss anything irrelevant like how many days it was there. I had to ask him four times, what was the name of the person who towed my car? He finally stated the driver's last name, and when I asked for his first name, he wouldn't give it to me, instead, he began talking about not being liable for missing property, which I already knew but I wanted some kind of closure to this predicament. By his unreasonable conversation and irrelevant narrative, I consider them untrustworthy and deceitful by more than just a possibility but more of a probability. What did I learn from this? At the same time he was out there, the recycling truck came to pick up recycling. The driver moved our bin and ran down the street to move another neighbor's bin so we didn't get missed. Called at 8:30 am for a tow because my tire blew out. Had to wait 2 whole hours for the guy to get to me and take me to a tire shop just 3 miles away. Apparently they are short staffed which i understand but no one communicated what was going on. After 30 mins I call to see what was happening and I was told I'd but helped in 15 mins... then another hour and a half passed. Geico selected Barbours to fulfill my request for roadside assistance. (I have the rider on my Geico policy.) The driver called me about 30 minutes before the estimated time of arrival and told me that he couldn't find the location I'd provided on GPS and needed the nearest cross street. I had put the *two* nearest cross streets in when I placed the service request to begin with, but I went and gave them to him over the phone anyway. After I hung up, I texted him a Google Maps link pinpointing the address for safe measure. Next I got a call from Barbours dispatcher. Same story. I explained that I had provided both cross streets when I placed the service request and directly to the driver, and had also text the driver a Google Maps link. The dispatcher told me that she was using Google Maps and couldn't find it. I asked her if I could email her or text her the link. I explained that I didn't understand why we were not on the same page since I was literally looking at the address on Google Maps right at that moment (which I was). She asked me to hold for a minute, and then got back on the phone and told me that they had it. I said 'okay, great' and hung up with her. Next I got another call from the driver. He still couldn't find it, and started asking me for more descriptive details and/or nearby landmarks. Since I'm not super familiar with the area that I was in, I wasn't able to help him. I explained that I wasn't sure what else I could do for him - that I had sent him the link, told him everything I knew, and was out of ways to help him. At that point the driver told me not to get 'huffy' with him, because it was he that was helping me. Then he hung up on me. My youngest daughter, who I had by my side from the time I initiated the service call so that she could learn what to do if she was ever in need of roadside assistance, heard all of it. What happened next blew my mind. Evidently he called his dispatcher and informed them that he refused to perform the service. I found that out when I called Geico to see if they could help, after he hung up on me. So there you go. I've already filed a complaint with Geico, and will file another one with the Better Business Bureau tomorrow. Hopefully this was a case of one bad apple and not the level of service typically provided by Barbours. Either way, my sympathies to the next person who receives 'help' in the form of a lost roadside assistance driver on a paid service call, calling the customer for directions, and then taking it out on them that he is lost. read more

I put in a call to Barbours Towing, and from the very moment their dispatcher answered the phone she made me feel confident we had called the right Towing Company. They were very friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and was able to give me a Up Front Price, I was more than happy with. She was willing to work with me by helping me make decisions on whether to tow it 2 hrs back home, or save some money on the tow, and just have somebody in the Local Raleigh area take a look at the truck for me. And even though I did notice on their website, they also work on commercial vehicles, I truly appreciate the fact of her offering the option of having one of their service techs take a look at it for us, and at the same time remaining true to her professional abilities and never trying to push their repair services on me. She was also very helpful in making may payment options easy. I now have Barbours Towing listed in our company Rolodex and in my phone in case the worst ever happens again Thanks Barbours, we really appreciate the hassle free help at a reasonable price! And if I could make any request from them it would be: There's nothing like speaking to the tow truck driver and being told straight from him "I should be there in approx 15-20 min", then you can relax a little and feel confident that he's coming. We waited, he did show up, but he left us wondering that whole time if he was coming. On 01/05/2018 I called this company to change a flat on my Audi S7. I waited over an hour for someone to show. I wasn't particularly upset about it bc we had some snow in the area that week, so it's understandable. However, when the driver got there he was blowing cigarette smoke in my face, super unprofessional. Then, he was confused as to where the jack would go under the car. He finally jacked it up and removed the lug nuts, and half-heartedly went about trying to remove the tire. He couldn't get it off. He gave me some bs about it being stuck to the rotor. He had a wrecked car on his flatbed, but of course offered to come back and tow the car. Ummm no thanks. Sounds like a rip off planned in advance. It's an Audi, the wheels are very precisely fit and sometimes it takes a little effort to get it off. He didn't even try. On top of that, they charged me $75 for 10 minutes of very minimal effort...and he only replaced 4 lug nuts and drove off with the 5th one! Once he left, I got the factory jack out of the car to jack it up myself, and I laid on the ground to find the groove where the jack sits. The only reason I didn't do that from the start is that I had no gloves and it was extremely cold out. A Good Samaritan saw me, and true to the South said, "Ma'am, let me help you, you shouldn't be laying on the ground out here, especially in this cold." He had a flat jack in his truck. He got the wheel off in less than 5 minutes. I'm not even kidding. FIVE MINUTES. He didn't have the slightest clue as to why the tow company said the wheel was stuck, all it needed was "a little elbow grease." I had a $20 bill on me, which I tried to give him and he refused to take. He said he owns a body shop and whoever came out to change the tire needs to "hit the gym" bc there's no way he couldn't have gotten that wheel off. Beware of this company. I wouldn't even be upset about the lousy 75 bucks if the driver had even pretended like he was trying, I respect that people need paid for their time and effort. He gave no effort at all. They initially took responsibility but then stopped contacting me after quotes were received. This place is absolutely ridiculous! Son gets into a bad accident. We drive 45 minutes to get to the car the next day because the nasty tow truck driver wouldn't let us in the car at the scene. Their policy is ONE person at a time can go into the yard! So my son, whose glasses were shattered in the accident, and who can't see for anything without them, is right now in their yard digging through his totaled car...alone. Holy Smokes....These guys are good. The vette decided to die in the driveway so I had to get it up to the auto shop. A quick call to Barbour's and the deal was done. They arrived exactly on time, loaded the vette onto the flatbed and they were off in 15 minutes. The Driver was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Horrible, denied access to my disabled mother to use the restroom (she has dementia) very rude and unknowledgeable. Wallet was locked inside gate in my unlocked car and I was forced to get my father to drive from over 60 miles away to gain access to the vehicle. After telling them that I would have to report an item stolen or call for a courtesy officer to come, they then allowed for an employee to rummage through my truck unsupervised to obtain my wallet and check on the item. With the registration being locked in my truck I was not allowed to get it, which would show my mother listed as an owner so therefore me and her could have gained access (she was present) my father was still forced to take time off of work to come up to gain access to our own property. Was told multiple times this was policy and insurance wouldn't allow that. Given that I am a dependent of both my father and mother this is very asinine and rude to be treated with no respect as we are technically customers. To top it off they had a employee vehicle parked in the handicap with no placard or license plate to allow that, even worse than this the other handicap spot was taken up by a shop truck with no placard. On attempted retrieval on Sunday the employee manning the building had to be woken up by my father and we were told by her I, myself would be able to go into my truck during normal business hours. My truck was left unlocked during this whole escapade, with my walled with all my identification, cash and credit cards inside. Adding insult to injury after my father came up, (my wallet had been retrieved by the unsupervised employee an hour before) they said they didn't know where my truck was to my father, while being extremely rude and they offered for 50 dollars they would allow me access to my truck by towing it to the parking lot. While this is my property and my fathers, told to pay more money just to access it. I recommend NEVER, I mean never using this company based solely off their unprofessional and rude attitudes by the employees upfront. read more

Barbour's Towing, My car was towed from you guys marked as "Abandoned", I had a lot of expensive items in the car from laptop, cell phone, OBD Scanner, and a lot of important paperwork and equipment for work. My lienholder was contacted and the car was picked up from you guys only to find out you guys cleaned out my vehicle. I was in there a few weeks earlier to try and retrieve my items and I was told I was only allowed to get car seats and medication. With my knowledge you guys did NOT have legal permission to access the vehicle at all! I was told by an employee of yours that a "background check" will be conducted to see if I am able to retrieve my items. (WAS SAID IN A RECORDED PHONE CALL). I had law enforcement and emergency equipment in the vehicle. As well as fire rescue equipment. There was also a police expandable baton, that one was very valuable to me. It had my fathers ashes in whom was killed in the line of duty. It was the same baton he used when he was alive. I have had several failed attempts to contact a manager about this matter. And a small claims lawsuit has been filed against prior to 9/21/2016. Your company has violated several NC Tow Laws & Statues. Had to have my car towed to a mechanic. Geico roadside provided Barbour's to get the vehicle where it needed to go. I was parked on a street in downtown Raleigh, so I figured it might be complicated to get it out. John, the tow truck driver was great - courteous and efficient. He knew what he was doing and took great care with my vehicle. I didn't give 5 stars because I don't have anything to compare to. No complaints on the service. John was great! I would definitely recommend this towing company, though I hope I don't have to use them again. read more
