Be forewarned, a confirmed appointment time with Sam is nothing more than a suggestion. Sam explained to me once that he makes an actual point of intentionally arriving late so that customers don't camp out early before their appointment time. Of course, this bold strategy means he's constantly running late the whole rest of the day! Brilliant..haha. As if that weren't bad enough, after waiting in the hallway for him to get you in (often 10-15 minutes late) for your confirmed appointment time, he will often continue to make you wait once you're in the chair as he returns calls and/or text messages, orders food/supplements, does his online banking and/or catches up on any number of tasks. Lastly, I'm not sure if it's related to his bodybuilding career but this dude seems constantly on edge. Most of the time he starts out fine but if the topic of conversation is one which he disagrees with you about, watch out! Dude gets agitated fast including using quite a bit of profanity to prove his point! I prefer a barber who is punctual, professional and above all friendly and courteous. From the moment we booked, the team was super communicative, welcoming, and friendly, which immediately put us at ease. I especially want to highlight how amazing they were with my son, who is autistic. They were exceptionally patient, kind, and understanding, never rushed him, and still managed to give him a fantastic haircut. That alone sets this place apart and means more to our family than I can easily put into words. Another great touch: the beer selection is top-notch. It was really nice to be able to enjoy one while waiting for the kids' haircuts to be finished; such a relaxed, thoughtful perk. He even asked for a different barber and the new barber also did a poor quality job. Its painfully uneven from the back and looks like a mullet hack job. Its disappointing that he spent the time & money to give to this business only for them to continually disappoint. He's a nicer person than I am, so thats why I'm leaving the review on his behalf. Westpark Barbershop lives up to the expectations. I made an appointment with Hanna, the shop owner and a licensed barber. Hanna is an expert and that is clear from the minute he gets going with your appointment. He asked some detailed questions about how I like to get my hair cut, and when I was not quite sure what I wanted, he walked me through some options. Hanna is really committed to running a quality business. During our chat he told me he only hired licensed barbers because he wants experts working in everyone's hair. Unlike chain locations, he treats his employees well and that is why he has low turnover with his barbers. That is important for me since I don't like it when I have to get my hair cut by a different person every three months. We talked about all kinds of stuff during my cut and he made me feel like a valued customer. I will definitely return to this place and encourage those of you reading this to give the shop a try.
