First off, I have recently moved to Ansonia and I have always wanted to support local businesses where I live. That being said, I searched through Google and Yelp and the ratings at Barber on Main was great and it is very close to me. I did see it was by appointments only and was hoping he was taking new customers. I was very upfront and transparent that I was hoping to get an appointment. To my delight, Ron was accommodating and gave me some dates that he had open. I booked it quickly. The day of my appointment, he opened the door and apologized that he only does by appointments only and as I was about to introduce myself, he recognized my voice and was SUPER friendly and asked me to come in while he was finishing up with a customer. Mind you I was early. The place is VERY clean; awesome decor if you like that vintage "rat pack" vibe; and the energy that Ron exuded was just great. I felt I found a new Barber and I was not disappointed. He is a great conversationalist and has interesting life experiences which kept me entertained. He is also very professional as he was feeling my hair and asking me what I was looking for style wise. He gave me suggestions of not going to short with my type of hair but will take it short as much he feels is the right length for me. My cut was great! My experience was great! The price was AMAZINGLY cheap!! Again, 10 stars if I could give it but I am definitely going to be a repeat customer! THANK YOU RON!!! read more

I moved to the area about 5 years ago and a friend of a friend recommended Ron. I called for an appointment and he was slammed but said he'd love to take me on as a customer and if I could make it, to come the next day during his lunch hour and he would fit me in. I've been a customer ever since and his level of understanding and accommodation is second to none. I travel a lot for business and always have to make last minute changes sue to my schedule and Ron always bends over backwards to get me taken care of. On top of that, he gives a great haircut in a great, family friendly environment at a very fair price. I've got my appointments booked our through the end of the year! read more

Barber on Main - Loving my lollipop at Uncle Ron's - Barbers Near Me - Ansonia, Connecticut

Don't listen to whoever "Eric D" is... I mean this guy didn't really even use Barber on Main's services because he irresponsibly waited to the very last minute to get a WALK-IN haircut for a WEDDING! Yet, Yelp STILL provides this Einstein a venue to pass the blame to Ron, because OF COURSE guys like Eric D deserve preferential service over the people sitting down waiting for their pre-scheduled & confirmed appointments...Duh! I mean C'mon dude, self-reflect & take some responsibility for being unprepared & unreasonable. Ron is great. Period. All 'NON-Eric D" reviews are dead-on when describing Ron & Barber on Main, so you don't need me to repeat it all again here. I'll just say that 12-years ago I was still looking for the FIRST haircut that I actually liked. I called the TOTALLY booked up Barber on Main, and Ron WAS able to give me a same day appointment.... I've Kept a monthly appointment with Ron ever since that haircut 11-12 YEARS ago, even though those appointments involve a 40-minute drive now... Ron LEGITIMATELY cares about his customers. He does NOT see you as $22, but instead sees his clients as his FAMILY (and that is NOT an exaggeration)... His SOLO-ran Business has comfortably lasted for sooo long (in an expensive to keep location) because of his great haircuts & great customer relations. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. read more

If you're new to the area or want to try out this barber shop, don't waste your time here! The owner does by appointment only and had to turn me away. This guy doesn't want new customers, he only likes his frequent flyers. Did not try to accommodate me in any way. When I made a suggestion that "you should have a sign that says no walk-in by appointment only" his reply "I'll put whatever sign I want." Don't waste your time here. Just go to J cuts in Shelton. read more

Great Haircut! I found Ron after searching for 6 months. He is great. Shop is very comfortable and clean. Barber on Main is a barbershop not a hair salon...there are no chemical smells and chatty women getting their nails done. Ron does take appointments...or you can wait...I recommend an appointment. In and out. read more

I have been going to Barber on Main every two weeks for around three years...my Son has been going to Ron for about 12 years. Barber on Main is more than a haircut it is an experience. Ron is an outstanding skilled barber. He makes you feel at home in a very friendly setting...he cares about his customers and treats them like family. read more

My (picky) husband has been going to Ron for years so we decided to bring our 6 month old son there for his first haircut and we couldn't be happier! Ron was incredibly patient and took off a little bit at a time to ensure that we were happy with the cut. The shop was also super clean! read more

they kicked me out for no reason at all so I had to give them a bad review. Also, they were literally arguing in front of me so unprofessional read more

This is not your "cost cutters" type of place. You make an appointment and you get the best service you can get at a barber. Ron listens to you and gives you the haircut you're looking for. Plus the atmosphere he promotes is pleasant and friendly. The shop is always clean and welcoming. There's no trash talk or shady people. A true gentleman Ron is. Totally recommend. Been a happy customer for over 5 years. read more

I have now gone twice to have my hair cut here. The first time I just walked in and he made time to take care of me. The other time I did make a reservation. It is your basic Barber shop which offers basic service. He does not do coloring or perms. He is your basic Barber but knows what to do. Very intelligent and nice to chat with. If you need a basic cut try him out. Still best to make an appointment since he seams to be getting more busy every day. Hi cost might be considered slightly above average but well worth it. read more

I have been going to see Ron for my haircuts, every two weeks, for the past six years. Let me tell you, I am very particular person and Ron has made sure that every haircut has been to my likings. Ron is not your typical barber, and I have built a true friendship over the years. I would highly suggest that you make an appointment since he is always booked solid. He's very good at what he does! I highly recommend Barber On Main as your next barbershop and you will not regret it. read more

Simply put...a great place for a haircut! A modern & very clean barbershop with flat screen TVs (one for the lounge and the other at the cutting station), a comfy lounge and a friendly, talented barber. Only one barber runs the show and he's always busy...highly recommend calling to make an appointment. Check out the hair gallery on the website too. read more

Ron is great. Listens and is v. cool. Great find and great cut. Highly recommend.

I'm a new customer, visiting from out of town. I called to make an appointment and Ron went out of his way to accommodate me. It was a great experience and the best haircut I've had! Ron is a very personable guy and I'll definitely be back when I visit again! Wish I could find a barber like him back home! Highly recommend! read more

Hands-down, without question the BEST barber I have ever worked with. Ron is incredibly talented and a VERY friendly guy, as evidenced by a huge customer group that has been coming to him for decades! I HIGHLY recommend Ron at Barber on Main. He does take walk-ins, but his popularity keeps him booked solid most days, weeks in advance, so a walk-in could take some time. Call him in advance and ask for an appointment! read more

I've been getting my hair cut by Ron since 1994 and travel over 30 miles to have him cut my hair. I get the haircut i want at a reasonable price. The environment is clean, pleasant and comfortable. Making an appointment is easy and Ron does his best to accommodate within his very busy schedule. Like most busy people, making an appointment makes the visit easy with no waiting. I came for the haircut and keep coming back for the friendship. read more

I've been going here for a few years now. Ron is a great barber and a stand-up guy. He is always ready for me when I come in for my appointment and the service is top notch. Good conversation, great atmosphere and excellent music. Best hair cut around!!! read more

Been going here for the last few months. Ron's a great barber, and I'm glad to have found him. Moving to NJ soon, but am going to try to keep getting my cuts from Ron. read more

I challenge you to find a better barber in the area. I vetted a lot of places before finding Ron. The guy not only cuts you to perfection (he takes my hair more seriously than I do), but provides great conversation and a lot of laughs. The place itself is set up classy and always kept clean. I look forward to just going in and hanging out sometimes. And to top it off, it's all provided at a reasonable price; you'd pay double for the type of service anywhere else. Good people and good barbers are both rare - Ron is both in the same. If you become one of his regulars, he'll look out for you like a close friend. No one better. read more

Here it is, if you are looking for the best and sharpest haircut then this is the place to go! I went to Barber on Main for a cut after going to many other places with inconsistent results. My first cut from Ron (the owner) changed all that. He took my ugly head from Frankenstein to Brad Pitt with one swift move of those shears. And while getting my haircut I get to listen to GOOD music and chat with Ron and the other folks in his shop. No BS music playing or silence like I experienced at other places. The vibe is totally relaxing. Barber on Main has a home-like feel and most times after I'm done I don't even want to leave. Seriously, I don't write many reviews on Yelp but after looking for a good barber for so long I had to tell the public about it. Thank God I finally found a good place. read more

Ron is great - we searched for a long time for a barber/place to get our 3 boys consistent, quality cuts. Barber on Main is the best. Make an appointment, you will be happy with the service! read more
