This place is circling the drain. Seems more like "No Class Barbers". All the 5 star reviews are by people who think Steve is a skilled barber, which I don't dispute. He's found his calling in life... as a hairdresser. However, if you take the time to read the negative reviews (the ones that don't get removed by Yelp) you'll find that, well... he's pretty much psycho. Steve lacks people skills. He spends most of the time he's cutting your hair complaining about his previous customer or someone who had the nerve to walk in without an appointment, because he seems to think his customers are all inconsiderate and exist to serve his needs. Ironically, my final experience was that he repeatedly blew off my efforts to book an appointment (on multiple occasions), then when I told him I was done going there, he suddenly had time to reply, and he got nasty, implying he'd get violent if we were face to face. I wasn't even going to bother with a review, but it's important that people see screenshots of the texts this guy sent me. This is a business owner. People take their kids here so he can wield sharp instruments near their heads. I noticed another review had similar texts from Steve. I wonder how many other customers he's lost. It's disturbing. I think I'll save these texts. He might still be texting me... I don't know. I blocked him after "f**k you", etc. Update: After I posted my honest review he messaged me twice on this site using the "compliment" tool so he could talk trash to me like a 3rd grader. Not really pleased with the place. They do not accept credit cards - had to make a trip to the ATM to get cash. Their phone number listed is not in service - thus you can't make an appointment AND they cut your hair after making an appointment. They told me that their working phone number is listed on Facebook account - I do not have a Facebook account. After all this (driving up to the place after being unable to call them, making a trip to ATM to get cash) paid $21 for the haircut after they totally butchered my hair even though I told them how to cut it. All the time while cutting my hair I was turned away from the mirror so I could not even see what is being done to may hair. Not going there again. Received a "lol" response from the owner a couple of days after posting my review (see above). The owner finds my low rating review of his poor service laughable. He claims his shop was voted "the best barbershop in CT in 2017". Never seen a shop laughing at providing poor service to a customer and sending their laughs in the email to the customer. Indeed being the "best" doesn't mean the place is any good. Can't imagine what the worst is. Based on how my review was treated with a "lol" it is definitely the best of the worst places at treating and insulting their customers. read more

SFCB is the best place to get your hair cut. I've been regularly having my hair cut here for a few years. the staff are all outgoing and friendly. 'barbershop' talk is a common occurrence here. lots of people know others and there's always something to gossip about. if you ever feel uncomfortable all you have to do is say so. Steve has movies or music playing as well, waiting to get your hair cut when it's busy doesn't seem like a long time when you're enjoying the time you're there. don't listen to fools who don't know how appointments work. barbershops have appointments for people to schedule around a busy work schedule, it works in both favors. walk ins are always welcome obviously. if you walk in and there's an appointment coming soon, an employee member always lets you know and advises you make an appointment for another time or day. keep up the great work Steve and Jeff. read more

I was referred to go to this barbershop by my friend because I just purchased a house in the area and was looking for a good barbershop nearby. I typically do not take the time to write reviews like this but I feel good business should be noticed. This barbershop is completely one-of-a-kind and stands out amongst all the barbershops I've ever been to. Typically I'm used to loud music, barbers using their phone, texting and taking over 45 min to do a haircut. Although the results were good I just got tired of that atmosphere and I'm glad I found a nice young vibrant staff yet professional and good! Again the environment is fantastic I feel the staff is professional and the location is great. I would definitely recommend this barbershop for anybody looking for a good environment with a professional staff and great results! read more

Steve and Jeff have been cutting my hair for 3 years. My former barber fell off of the planet, and it took some time for me to find the right place for me. I was referred to Steve by another one of his clients, and I haven't "cheated" on my barber since. Running my business, 2 young children, and all of that other adult stuff just murders my time/schedule. I'm able to call Steve and figure out days and times that work around MY schedule and MY time. Communication and response from the barbershop is excellent and in my opinion the most valuable aspect of our relationship. Not to mention these two guys cut amazing hair. Skin fade is second to none. If you're getting a straight line across the top of your neck, your barber sucks and is lazy. I highly recommend Steves's First Class Barbershop. read more

First off, if you have an issue w your barber being too busy cuz of too much business that's a YOU problem. Instead of bitching you should be shaking their hands telling them to keep up the great work! Being patient wouldn't hurt either...prick. That being said, I have had only 1 bad experience there w a haircut. Needless to say that barber was bounced by the time i came back. Why did i come back if the cut was crappy? I was told prior to my 1st time there that it was the spot to go for adope tight cut. Also there were 3 barbers at that time so i figured at least 1 of the other 2 had to be better. Great customer service and highly skilled barbers that actually appreciate the trade and their passion shows in their work. I can make an early morning appointment and get my haircut before I go into work and Steve is always accommodating and punctual. One of very few places you can get a haircut from either one of the barbers and leave with an excellent haircut. Jeff and Steve both know what they're doing and have been doing it for a while. Steve is easily the most skilled barber in New Haven County. He's meticulous, conscientious and has a great sense of humor.
