We were in a local shopping center doing errands, trying to figure out where to go to get his haircut????? Being that there's literally 15 barber shops all within the same couple of miles on Middle Country Road between Centereach and Selden, we came upon this one right next door to where we were. We walked in and had to wait a few brief minutes, as other clients were ahead of us. It gave me time to get a feel for the overall essence of this place ....I was sold!!! My observations proved true even after walking out of the shop 45 minutes later!!! There was even an older woman waiting to get her haircut, and upon having small chat with her told me she's been coming to this barbershop for many years (speaking so highly of Lori). Again, all positive vibes! My immediate thoughts presented a very warm, clean, and welcoming barbershop/salon. When I saw a female barber cutting hair, I was like "this looks like it's going to be a great fit for my husband"..... When it was my husband's turn, Lori (owner) greeted us with such a friendly and warm demeanor. Introductions were made and the rest is barber shop history....lol She did a fabulous job on the little bit of hair my husband has left....LOL ! He joked about that with her as well.... We have now found a new barbershop.... If you want a really special place with excellent service (and great prices too) BARBERrenos in Selden is the place to visit! I'm so happy we found a new spot so quickly on the spur-of-a-moment, which fits perfectly into our lifestyle (and so close to home). Thank you Lori for making our 1st experience at your phenomenal barber shop so enjoyable. We look forward to referring you to friends and family alike! See you soon....

It's pretty cheap. $17 for an adult hair cut. I usually tip them $13, because I've been going to this barber shop for 5 years and they're still open and I like the people there. The barbers in this shop actually know how to cut hair and style hair, unlike some other barber shops I've went to, where I ask for something and they leave me bald, because they only know how to do a fade. They have a friendly environment as well and they leave out lollipop candy if you want it. The parking lot can fit 8-10 cars, it leaves plenty of space to back out. Through the artistry of Lana and Eddie, my experience as a customer feels closer to that of a patron. Just as experimentation and reflection are bridged by discipline, their service shapes my understanding of character. In Lana's care, there is a depth to every interaction that comprises an inquiry and discovery of music, books, travel, and culture. Her cutting is always on point, matched by her warm presence. I recall the first time waiting and observing her work. The variety of styles-the low taper fade with a modern pompadour, the modern side part taper, and the executive contour style-all showed a mark of variability that suited her patrons in both professional and casual settings. When I wanted to keep the hair long in the front, she recommended a scissor-cut slick back with a low taper using a 1.5 guard. She took the time to break down the different hairstyles and tailored the cut exactly to my preference. Where Lana grounds her artistry with warm, meticulous guidance, Eddie's quality complements her with an enamor for history, current events, and art. Eddie helped me understand how different styles work when dimensions are proportioned well. He educated me on the basic anatomy of a haircut, which made me appreciate the uniqueness of a style-balancing the varying dimensions of the front, the top, the temple, and the parietal ridge. Both Lana and Eddie cut masterfully in multiple styles. Their conversations extend their craftsmanship, defining North Gate Barbershop as a crucible where a cut is proportioned to your character, the true signature of its patron.
