I really enjoy going to this library when I am in town. They are a nice size on multiple floors,…read moreand have desk where I can sit and plug my laptop and relax. Plus they have meeting rooms, and programs for the community at times. The staff seem really nice. Great way to kill time.

I have had many encounters dealing with the women that work in that library being rude, one example is when I needed to re checkout a book since I only had a few more days to read it. The lady at the desk didn't say a word to me snaches my library card and then concludes by stating "next time do it online" however I was also there for the computers. So why should I not go a head and checkout the book? She could of explained kindly there was a way to do so online however again I was there for the computers. After I proceeded to the computers and began to print a new lady approaches me saying "you need to not use these computers again and use the ones downstairs. I will let you finish this time." in a malicious, superior tone. So I said "okay thank you for so kindly telling me that information!" I have never been so humiliated in my life! Rude! How dare anyone speak to anyone in such a manor! People need to realize that their words can impact someone's day. You never know how someone might be feeling and it's important to take that into consideration before you starting being rude. Think before you speak.

Excellent customer service - 5 Stars. The owner of the bookstore was at the entrance and greeted me & others immediately when we entered the bookstore. Upon entering, I noticed many areas were sectioned and off limits. I found out later that they were placing books back in the bookshelves after they were taken away to repair broken pipes in the store and to prevent them from getting damaged. There were a literary jukebox and vending machine dispensing capsules with quotes - both out of order. I still had a good time wandering around the bookstore and browsing books there. I found a book in the clearance section for 25 cents and purchased it. Despite the inconveniences in the store due to the building being old and being repaired by the owner herself, I am impressed by how personable & amicable the owner was and that she was repairing the pipes in the store by herself instead of hiring someone to do it. I know when the books are organized back on the shelves that I will probably come back and spend more time here. This is a bookstore to see in Wilmington again and again.

I visit this library almost every chance I get, partly because of circumstance, but primarily because I really love learning! The last 2 days they have been closed 1. because it was Sunday & 2. Martin Luther King Jr Day! (Respectively, and lovingly). While I was waiting outside this morning for The Rourks to open, I got excited because I've missed this place the last 2 days! Then I began thinking do I just miss accessing the computers, or do I miss the library in its entirety? The latter was most accurate, ya know. So even though I spend most of my time on the computers, It's the unique learning environment, character, and community that I missed. Regardless of how I may feel day to day. So, 5 stars from me ***** they are all great here! (to clarify, that isn't a 5-letter foul word) (I'm funny). ___________________________________________________________ Geminis revised version. I LIKE MINE, but whatever. This is learning. Revised Version (same vibe, just tightened and clearer): I like to call this place "The Rourks," as if it were some kind of ancient, mystically enchanted forest‑swamp library. Think Library of Alexandria... but with more Southern charm. I come here almost every chance I get -- partly because of circumstance, but mostly because I genuinely love learning. The last two days they were closed (Sunday and Martin Luther King Jr. Day -- respectfully and lovingly), and I actually missed being here. While waiting outside this morning for The Rourks to open, I caught myself wondering: do I just miss the computers, or do I miss the library itself? Definitely the library. Even though I spend most of my time on the computers, it's the environment, the character, and the sense of community that I really come for. This place just has a vibe. So, five stars from me ***** -- and no, that's not a five‑letter foul word. (I'm funny.)

No matter how busy they are, how many people are trying to figure out the copier, how many toddlers are squealing in their play area, everyone at the counter is smiling and quick to lend a hand. When it's not quite so hectic, there's no one better to help you find a book, even when you can't quite describe what you want. Now that's a great skill! Big shout-out to Caitlin and CC (unsure of spellings), both of whom are quite knowledgeable and always ready to offer assistance, and to Manager Nathan, who works side-by-side with them and sets the tone that makes Leland Library such a great place to visit. It's easy to drive right by this BCL gem tucked in just past the Brunswick Center on Village Road, but you definitely need to stop by when you have a few minutes. P.S. The pics are random: the flag out front of the library on a beautiful afternoon and a film event from January (2026). Film events continue and are on Friday afternoons; check their website for schedule.

I decided to check out Children's Story Time and it didn't disappoint. Starts at 10AM promptly and lasts around 30 min. The Librarian will read three-four books and do some type of interactive song/dance in between each book. My little is almost ten months old and I was impressed by how entertained he was. He enjoyed watching the other kids sing and dance. It also is another opportunity to start introducing him to groups of children so he can learn how to act in public. After story time, there is a very small and simple craft for the kids to participate in that is led by the Librarian. Cute idea! If you're looking to get out of the house for a bit and spend zero dollars, this is a great option for your kiddo!
