I had read great reviews about Jaime Rea and his company, Rea Pro Construction, online. Jaime…read moreproved to be every bit as good as his stellar reviews, and then some. I contacted Jaime to discuss re-siding our house (with cedar siding). He was helpful every step of the way, from selecting the most aesthetically-pleasing design, to selecting the best materials, to the installation itself, to the sealing of the wood once it was installed. The job was so well done that we then asked Jaime to help us redesign our deck-railing and outdoor-staircase-railing, too. Not only was all of the work Jaime and his team did extremely high-quality, but it was done on budget, and on time. Communication with Jaime was excellent at all times, and he was great to collaborate with. My vision of how things should look was definitely enhanced talking each project through and collaborating with Jaime. Jaime and his crew were consummately professional, and every person Jaime brought in to help with a project was equally professional, polite and efficient. In addition to his professional excellence, Jaime also happens to be an incredibly nice person. In my experience, this combination of great capability, professionalism, and kindness is hard to find in this industry. I therefore cannot rate Jaime and Rea Pro Construction highly enough: If I could award 6 stars to Jaime and his company, I happily would. Michael Lineberry

We called on a Friday in the late afternoon and in 2 hours Riley was there and couldn't have been more pleasant or competent. He came up with a temporary fix that allowed us to turn the water back on until we could have ductwork removed to give him access to repair it permanently. He tested the area with air, so he wouldn't risk water leaking. He went through the whole house to make sure there weren't any other leaks and even checked the water meter to make sure water wasn't leaking where it couldn't be seen or heard. He was there for just under an hour. They are very fairly priced, although we weren't in a negotiating position. That's extremely unusual for the Hamptons. I recommend them without reservation!

Beware of a local "contractor" called Hampton Restoration. (www.HamptonRestorationServices.com)…read more[NOT Hampton Restoration Group] We need to do a full restoration of our bath room. We found Hampton Restoration on the Internet. The web site said "For your peace of mind, we are an honest business that is fully licensed and insured." The website also claimed that they were "screened and approved by HomeAdvisor" They provided an estimate, (and no contract) and we decided to go with them. They required a down payment of 1/2 the total estimate. We paid that. I found out that they lied about being "fully licensed and insured" and Home Advisor has not "screened and approved" them. I told them we want our deposit back. They refused. They did no design work. We purchased and procured all the materials (vanity, toilet, lights, tile, shower and vanity plumbing, towel rack, mirror, etc.). They provided no labor, and yet they think they are entitled to $9120.00 of our money. We consider this Grand Theft. On top of this, the legal system proved disappointing. The State of NY, which seems to have good consumer protections, sent us to Suffolk County that also has what seems to be good consumer protections, but said that because the crime occurred in East Hampton NY, they had not jurisdiction. We filed a police report, and they were very sympathetic, but ultimately after investigating decided it was "a civil matter" not a "criminal matter". So if I went to the convenience store and shoplifted a cold beer, they would arrest me. But if a contractor steals $9120.00, it is up to me to sue the perpetrator. After speaking with an attorney in E. Hampton, he advised that I could try small claims court in E. Hampton (no lawyer required), and at best get back only $3000 (but I might loose). If I wanted to try to get back more of my money, he thought I might have to go all the way to the NY Supreme Court. Of course legal fees would wipe out any possible wins, and perhaps I would not win. So bottom line: Stay away from this fraudulent business. It could happen to you.

Some how, through the miracle of internet search, I found Tamas and ProWood. We hired Tamas to design, engineer, build, and install the paneled entrance to our dining room, the paneling along one wall, and the built-in bookcases along the other wall. Throughout the process, Tamas was incredibly patient with our decision making, giving us sketches to confirm his understanding of what we wanted and then CAD print outs showing us exactly how it would look once it was built. As homeowners without an interior design background, this was incredibly helpful. While his team does the actual installation, Tamas visits the job site frequently to ensure that everything is being done as discussed. Tamas is in great demand, and we had to wait in line to get our project done, but it was worth it, as it is very hard to find such meticulous craftsmanship. Plus, Tamas is just a delight to work with on projects. I would highly recommend ProWood.
