    Shrimp taco & fish taco

What a great little spot in an open air food court. The tacos were amazing ! I ordered a fish taco Baja style and a shrimp taco chili and garlic style, both were so flavorful and delicious! There was so much fish that I could've made two tacos! Only con is that it's open air and there were a lot of flies. They need to come up with some way deter or control the flies.

Food was A-1 ambiance is quaint they didn't have a few dishes that we wanted to try but what we ordered was tasty. The only "complaint" was service was sub par we waited a while for the check to come even after our dishes were taken away

An absolute must go if you are on the island. Do yourself a favor and go here for lunch or dinner! This restaurant is in a grouping of other restaurants. The tacos are absolutely delicious, the drinks they serve at the bar are awesome and the guacamole was made wonderfully. We had the following tacos and they are all made on blue corn tortillas. Soft shell crab (was the choice of the day) - This was ordered in two, and really liked it, but would have been fine with just one. Pulpo ajillo - probably my personal favorite. The butter and octopus together was just magic and absolutely decadent. I wish I ordered the Pulpo Diablo as well just to try but was so full in the end! Pescado Tik - this was the least favorite we got. It was good but compared to the rest, just wouldn't get again Camaron Diablo - super good and a must try. Would order the ajillo version on the next trip to just try Aracherra ajillo - another awesome taco and would order again. Worth ordering for sure. And also had guacamole. As mentioned the guac was well made and enjoyed it a lot. It was not bland like some and the tortilla chips were awesome. At the time we were there, there was a ton of flies flying around, which wasn't necessarily the restaurants fault but more of the entire establishment not trying to get rid of them, but otherwise a great experience and we will go back if/when we get back to the island.

This was excellent. We came for lunch and got six tacos (two baja style fish, two garlic shrimp, one diabla style shrimp, and one diabla style fish), their shrimp aguachile, and some guac with chips. The baja fish were probably our favorites of the tacos, but we really enjoyed all of them. The aguachile was very good, but I'd skip in favor of trying the ceviche next time. (They were out of ceviche on our visit.) The guac was excellent as well, as were their chips. This wasn't our very favorite place in Holbox, but it was on a fairly short list.

We visited about a month ago and had dinner here one evening. I had the best michelada of my trip here. I had the best tacos of my trip here also. So good! But I have to be totally honest. There is one thing that prevented me giving 5 stars. The patio here is so full of flies that we were uncomfortable had to eat really fast. So many flies! If they could just put some fans it would help. Maybe we could have stayed longer and had more drinks.

This spot is set up like a food stall setting; you order and pay at the stalls and they bring the food to your table. The Rosemary Hibiscus Margarita was the absolute best drink! I tried each of the vegan tacos; all were tasty, but the garlic mushroom was my favorite. The ladies with me enjoyed their drinks and food as well. Get the guacamole!

I love the idea of Holbox Food (where Barba Negra is located) but thought there were some things they could be doing better. It's a patio space with a small handful of restaurant concepts, plus a bar. You can walk up to each business and place orders and there's also table service. There was a lot of wait time after placing orders for drinks, despite multiple servers and not much of a crowd. Streamlining the process to have people order and pay at each station and then giving people a number and having food runners bring food and drinks would probably help a lot. With regards to Barba Negra specifically, I thought the menus could have been a bit more descriptive. I was not aware that some of the tacos (estilo baja, specifically) we ordered would come loaded with a mayo-based sauce. If I had known, I would have asked for it on the side (and recommend doing that if you aren't crazy about heavy handed sauces). The shrimp tacos al ajillo were definitely my preference. Another thing of note was that there were a lot of flies that were super distracting. I know when you eat outside there's only so much that can be done about nature, but surely some copal or other deterrent would be helpful.

These tacos were so good that we ate her everyday for lunch while we were on Holbox. So I think I'm total we ate here about 5 times. So good. The tacos are a must.

A most do when in Holbox Mexico. My sister in law and brother recommended it because they loved the guacamole and cauliflower tacos. It did not disappoint. Loved it so much we went two times in our short trip there. First time we got : Guacamole Octopus Garlic shrimp Mushroom Cauliflower Guacamole was amazing one of the best I've ever had! Husband said octopus tacos were only ok :(. The garlic shrimp was the star it was heavy on the garlic on all the right ways!! Reason why we came back a second time (that and they accept visa). The mushroom one was also very good. The cauliflower was good but people I think hyped it up too much? It was good but not amazing ( since I eat a lot of veggie tacos I might have higher standards?) The margarita and cucumber lemonade were amazing refreshing and I highly recommend. You can't go wrong here with all the fresh ingredients and amazing cooking. Can't wait to come back!
