I ordered the Baratti & Milano Gran Selezione!! It came excellently packaged!! It was like breaking into Fort Knox. My treats survived the Memphis heat! As the anticipation built I finally was awarded my prize!! The chocolates were so smooth and creamy! As soon as the chocolate began to melt in my mouth, every taste bud was bathed in sweet rich chocolaty goodness. A nice taste of hazlenut whispered it's presence as the crescendo of flavors danced in my mouth. Joy unspeakably joy!! I will share a few chocolates with my coworkers. (They will sing my praises for this chocolate experience!)

Waaaaaayyyyy overpriced. The location and interior are beautiful. However, either the service or the food must be outstaning for me to justify the prices; both were good, but not out-of-this-world to match the cost. I stumbled upon this after leaving a museum during riposso. I was looking for food, but this is a real cafe that only serves cafe items: coffee, dessert, drinks. No biggie. We got gelato (10€), a really good coffee (and thats saying a lot, I dont normally drink coffee - it was chocolate on bottom, espresso & whipped cream on top), a bottle of water and the dessert of the day (a sugared chestnut paste)... the total was 28€. Yes €28 for a bottle of water, a coffee, gelato and a dessert. Staff were friendly, but not THAT friendly. The gelato was good, as is all gelato/sherbet in italy/europe [a 10€ gelato in Germany will get you a *mountain* of fresh/real fruit sherbet with a just as much (if not more) effort put into presentation]. The chesnut paste (it did have a fancy name I couldnt pronounce or remember) was good but Very sweet. The coffee was Great. But Italy is known for epic coffee for 3€...it is still overpriced here You are paying to look at the interior (est 1855 I think) and it IS gorgeous...but all of the buildings in the area are old and epic. I don't have a problem with €€€€ /$$$$ establishments, but food, location and service need to justify the price. All 3 areas did not live up to pricing expectations for me.

Perfect place to catch up with friends or enjoy an afternoon caffè. The pastries are all phenomenal (I mean, look at this meringue!) and the coffee is as well. Must try: bicerin, which is a hot drink native to Torino. Mmm!

Caffe Baratti e Milano... coffee with fresh whipped cream and hazelnuts... Amazing!

Named after Aristarco Scannabue, the pseudonym used by Giuseppe Baretti, a 1700 poet/writer/critic…read morefrom Turin, as Scannabue is located at the intersection between Via Saluzzo and Via Baretti, this wonderful restaurant serves excellent traditional dishes that gravitate around local ingredients, in a "vintage" setting that is both charming and welcoming. In a city that offers high quality food at affordable prices, this was perhaps the dining experience I'll remember the most of my stay in Turin. The menu is curated and offers a large variety of Turin and Piemonte dishes; some are traditional by the book, and other ones are reinvented by Scannabue. I highly recommend the "Menu della tradizione/Traditional tasting menu", which offers a panoramic culinary view of what this fantastic city and region have to offer and, at €32.50 p/p[1] it's an amazing deal. Our meal started with Bruschetta w. liver patè and candied orange amuse bouche, and the traditional tasting menu featured: - Vitello Tonnato/Thinly sliced veal with tuna sauce and capers. - Cappuccino di baccala'; cured cod served with potatoes to resemble a cappuccino. - Agnolotti del Plin 3 meats: rabbit, veal, and pork; sautéed in Alpine butter. - Guancia brasata/braised beef cheek slow cooked in Barbera wine, served over potato pure'. - For dessert choice of Bunet/bonnet (traditional Piedmont chocolate pudding) or Panna cotta. I loved my meal at Scannabue, and I would certainly come back to try all the other dishes on the menu. As Scannabue is also popular among locals, reservations are strongly recommended. -------------- [1] 2 people minimum.

Service was gracious - host suggested wines by the glass which were very reasonably priced as was the entire menu. We couldn't consider another place besides this for authentic food from the region. The place was packed with locals and reservations are essential.
