In addition I had a child with growing special needs that had me overwhelmed. Then I met Howard who turned everything around from the prior judgment, custody, alimony, all of it. If you want an attorney who does everything he promises and who genuinely cares about YOU, Howard is the lawyer to call. The communication between this firm with lenders, buyers, and sellers are definitely the reason why I would never recommend this firm. From paralegal to receptionist, the lawyers were not on top of their clients, and had poor turnaround time with other lawyers in the area. One of the partners on the letterhead actually lied to me when he was just trying to get my signature on his documents and caused more grief, tension, and bitterness in the end between all parties. There are too many RE lawyers in the area to use, and for much less billable. I would never recommend this law firm, and they need to have a course in sensitivity training and people skills.

I rarely write 1-star reviews but strongly feel this is necessary…read more My husband and I met with Jennifer Deland to discuss estate planning, and the meeting it was extremely unproductive and frustrating. Jennifer requires a $400 non-refundable fee for a consultation fee unless you sign on with her within 30 days - this was our first mistake, but a good (costly) learning for us. First, we sat in a tiny, dingy room that barely fit three as she struggled to find usable space on a whiteboard that was stained with marker. Realizing she couldn't erase the board, she opted to use someone else's faded hen-scratches to "guide" our discussion. She jumped from topic to topic erratically, and our specific questions seemed to throw her off. She repeatedly referenced what other clients have done rather than provide guidance on what would best suit our needs, which is why we were there! We came prepared with a 1-page Asset Summary that she barely read through and asked where our "receipts" were. Why she needed proof of our assets is beyond me - this was supposed to be a consultation. She did, however, pull public records of our home in advance of the meeting. As it became apparent that she wanted us to "pick" an approach and sign on with her, we pushed back, citing that we were in no way prepared to select an approach given our minimal understanding of our options. She then leaned into us and rudely blurted out, "Well, what is your objective?" Stunned, we responded, "to create a plan". The conversation was maddening. After a few unsuccessful attempts to convince us to sign on with her, she said, "OK, let me make one last-ditch effort" (were we buying a used car?) She began typing frantically on her laptop, explaining that she needed to make thorough notes about our meeting and said we'd be receiving a letter with "curt language" in the mail, but we could still change our minds within 30 days. To wrap up, she asked if we had a "little check for her". Sorry, $400 is hardly little. We paid her, took our asset inventory and left.

My wife and I worked with Robert on a very complicated case. Before hiring him, we consulted with…read moremultiple attorneys. Every one of them tried to persuade us to file a Ch 13 because they believed our income was too high for a Ch 7. Robert was the only attorney who carefully reviewed our situation and felt we had a strong case for Ch 7. We ultimately decided to hire Robert, and it was one of the best decisions we could have made. Robert's preparation was incredibly thorough. He paid attention to every detail and followed a very structured process. At times, I honestly thought he was asking for more documentation than necessary. I didn't understand why he needed so much paperwork--until the hearing. While waiting for our case to be called, we watched several other attorneys struggle because they weren't prepared. The magistrate repeatedly reprimanded attorneys for their lack of preparation, and many cases had to be continued. When my wife's name was finally called, I was nervous that we'd run into similar problems. Instead, thanks to Robert's preparation, every document was in order and every question was answered immediately. Our hearing went smoothly without a single issue. Our case was completed efficiently and without any resistance from the court. Seeing firsthand how other cases unfolded made us appreciate Robert's attention to detail, preparation, and deep knowledge of the law even more. RED FLAG WARNING ‼ I attended a webinar from this firm that…read morewas very useful. So I can recommend the firm for learning purposes. I actually had been planning to work with this firm to add an additional property into an existing trust and to establish an advanced healthcare directive. However, due to a busy schedule I had pushed out my official scheduled meeting several weeks. But then something came up and I needed to reschedule that appointment. While trying to do so, I mentioned why I had to reschedule and what I was looking for from the firm. At that point the person I spoke with attitude changed. She stated that their firm was unwilling to work with an existing trust but they could make me a new one. When I asked why she said that would be modifying another firms work and they won't do that; they would only be able to create a brand new trust for me. Really? That is completely ridiculous. The recording costs alone woyld be cost prohibitive, never mind the cost of their time. Reputable attorneys work with existing trusts all the time. This is a big RED FLAG. Trusts do not belong to the firm that created it, they belong to the trust and are managed by the trustee that is often the person who had the trust created. It is a huge RED FLAG, in my opinion, that this firm insists that a new trust must be created. The only way I can make sense of that is if they want to collect payment for establishing the trust, and every deed transfer. And/or they might want to be the trustee on the new trust -- which might ensure future and possibly on-going payments. If the latter were true, that would be an even bigger RED FLAG --as it would suggest that may have a financial reason to want such control. So, I highly suggest people do their homework before working with this firm. And if you decide to do so, I suggest that you compare services and costing from another law firm. And be especially wary if they suggest being the trustee! The final RED FLAG , is that they are a "high-pressure sales" organization, where salespeople aggressively pursue potential customers through repeated calls, texts, and emails. This approach is off-putting and given what I learned in my last conversation with them it has led to negative and suspicious perceptions of the business. This is the reason I just spent 15 minutes writing this review.
