Lovely place to have local beer and other drinks. They specialize in infused gin that is flavored in house. They have so many crazy flavors to choose from, it's fun to try a wide variety. They have a nice selection of local beers to Barcelona. Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of this place and the ruby colored lightning. I do not order mojitos back in the States but the mojitos here were respectable in freshness, sweetness, amount of alcohol per cup, and pricing. I really enjoyed the atmosphere created along with the music selection. Tight space and if it is at capacity you will have to wait until enough people leave (1 comes out-1 goes in). They do not accept cards here so please bring enough cash. A little more cushion on the stools would make this place even better or at least more comfortable. read more

Very pretty gin bar decorated perfectly in sync with its name (everything inside has a ruby tint). Make sure you love gin before going--the menu offers an astounding number of gin based drinks. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating, making the experience special and comfortable. read more

Went two nights in a row! Chill little place with cool red lighting. The gin and tonic is delicious, with tons of house made flavors. I got the grapefruit once and elderflower after that. Both were great, with the latter being slightly better! The mojitos are also great. We liked the strawberry one and the grapefruit one best, with original being too strong. The drinks are super well priced and are made VERY strong, so you get a bang for your buck. Definitely a great little stop to make along your night! read more

Great little bar tucked away in the narrow back streets of the Born district. Mojito heaven! Well designed with attention to details, with a red theme (red light feeling). I didn't want to use Yelp! while in Europe because I figured it would be "touristy" of me to do so and we wanted to fully immerse in the Spainish culture instead. But some of the bars we went to earlier that day were either hit or miss and I wanted to end the night with a chill/cool vibe. So Yelp came to the rescue and did not disappoint! It was exactly how I wanted to enjoy the night. The bartenders were helpful on letting us know which tapas to try. The Mojitos were strong and made fresh in front of you....something I haven't had back in States! And at 3.50 a pop, you cannot beat that! They have over 50 gins from around the world but the house gin used for the Mojitos was just as great. Definitely coming back if I find myself in Barcelona again! read more

The bar tender (who is one of the owners) infuses his own gin with flavors like grapefruit, cucumber, lemongrass etc. We went twice in one week to get our fix. This is one of the best bars I have ever been to, hands down. Walk in, and everything is doused in a reddish hue. You hear both Spanish and English being spoken-tourists and locals alike frequent Rubí. It's a small place, so finding seating may be hard, but a short wait is well worth it. Next, let's talk about the mojitos. 3 euros a pop on the first night we were there, and hands down the best mojitos I have ever had. They shake the cocktail with the mint leaves, and make it the right way-this is something most bartenders in the US never seem to know to do. Appropriately strong and perfectly minty, these are the mojitos you will crave the next time you order one that isn't up to par. It's a very chill place, with fun music playing, laid-back conversations, and a fun crowd. Great, great ambience. The mojitos are the best I've had, along with capinrinhas, and some great flavored gin options for gin and tonics. The music is eclectic and always upbeat from funky stuff to fun oldies and reggae. It's definitely a mix of travelers primarily, filling up the small space from about eleven to close. The bartender, Laya (sp?), really makes the experience special though. read more

I love this bar! I was initially drawn in by the glowing red lights and the sign for €3.50 mojitos. My mojito was good and strong, and along with it I got a free tapa of Vietnamese summer rolls! I love free food. So far I have sampled nachos, yum, fried chilies, yum, cheese and olives, yum and Vietnamese rolls, yum! Awesome little bar, tucked away in one of the alleyways in elBorn. Here they specialize in gin. Besides your standard options they also have at least a dozen of house-made, infused gins. Gin& tonic is big in Barcelona and many places make it good. Rubí made the best gin&tonic cocktail I had by far. It was a lime-infused gin with cardamom and it was delicious. Can I just tell you that I LOVE that gin is such a huge thing in Barcelona? We went to two bars that were majorly gin heavy and I was thrilled. Bar Rubi definitely was my favorite. Everything is deep red here, including the lights. Sure you might think it is a little weird but once you start eyeballing the bottles on bottles of infused gin, you will forget all about it. The bartender can suggest a good mixer for each flavor of gin, which range from fruits, spices, hot peppers and coffee. While you might find this weird, I strongly suggest getting the chocolate gin. They mix it with orange juice and it basically tastes exactly like those chocolate oranges you eat during the holidays. They offer other liquors if you are not willing to expand your gin horizons including a rather cheap mojito. If I ever return to Barcelona, I will definitely head back here. We returned twice in just our short trip in May! read more

We happened to stumble upon it one night roaming around town and quickly got to know the owners behind the bar who were super down to earth, full of good recommendations and jokes! Hi Con and Matt!!! The drinks are inexpensive and generous! I discovered my new favorite drink of the moment, Hendrick's gin and tonic, while there... They serve it with fresh sliced cucumber... Delicious! My boyfriend and I also ate there for dinner on several occasions and loved every plate. This place is terrific and in a great area!
