We ended up at Metastasio on a whim. We had walked by it on our way into the city and saw the view through the closed doors and ended up circling back around after doing some sightseeing. We didn't have a reservation but we arrived shortly after they opened for the night and were seated on the balcony so we could take in the beautiful view. I believe our server was the owner and chef. We asked him for recommendations and everything was wonderful. We had the tomato mozzarella salad and an arugula salad with thinly sliced raw porcinis, which were both fresh and tasty. My main meal was the boar stew and it was out of this world, one of the best meals I ate in Italy. Rich, earthy with hints of herbs, maybe rosemary and thyme, you could tell that it had been simmering for hours. A little on the salty side, but I found that with the other boar dishes I tried in Italy as well, maybe he meat is "cured" with salt to tenderize it???. You won't go wrong with the food, service, or view at Metastasio. read more
