There are a lot of Argentinian and Brazilian steak restaurants in Amsterdam (and there are a few just on Zeedijk itself) so it was more luck than anything else that we picked this one. In fact, not entirely luck - we were looking at the menu outside when a waiter came out to talk to us. Assuming the menu looks okay, this can often be the thing that persuades me to choose one place over another - if they're interested enough in my custom to come out and talk to me, I'm interested enough to go in. And in this case, I'm really glad we did. The prices aren't cheap, but they're on a par with good steak restaurants I've eaten at in Glasgow. You get a choice of cuts and a choice of sizes - a 300g fillet will set you back about 26 Euros (around £19).
We ordered a fillet and a sirloin, a side of fries, a side of onion rings, a side of mushrooms (oh my goodness, I don't know how they cooked the mushrooms but they came on a skewer and they were so tasty!) and two sauces. Along with a glass of wine each, the final bill was just under 70 Euros (just over £50). The steaks were cooked exactly as we'd asked for.
The restaurant is cosy and warm with a nice friendly atmosphere although personally I could have done without the telly on the wall. For a place we just chose at random, I was really quite happy. read more
