Today we decided to do something new and fun together as a family. We wanted to try all ice cream flavors at Bar Italia, there's 15 of them, so we ordered 1 ball of each flavor, this is a total of 15 ice cream balls.
The price list says that 1 ball costs 45kr and 3 balls cost 69kr so the total should have been 15/3*69kr = 345kr, instead, we were charged 15 * 45kr = 675kr. When I asked why, the staff had to scramble around to find a reason and eventually came up with the idea that we were given each ball in a separate, disposable, paper cup, so the cost was 45kr/ball because of the cup itself.
Now, there's a few things to say about this:
* The above means that either the ice cream is worthless or the disposable paper cups are insanely expensive
* At no point the price list mentions paper cups. The price says clearly: 1x45 and 3x69, regardless of whether the balls are delivered on the same cup or separate cups. The cups are simply factored in as a cost
* The indifference of the staff to even try to "meet in the middle" in this situation when someone shows up and orders all ice cream you've got is extremely dissapointing
* When I was submitting the order the staff clearly gathered on the side to discuss this exact point before charging us, and still decided to manipulate the price list information to their advantage
* I understand profit maximization but only to a certain point, once you start taking advantage of customers it bites you back
PS: Yes, we didn't clean the table before leaving. If we pay 2x the amount I think it's safe to assume the service is included and the staff can take care of it. And by the way, the ice cream is actually good. read more
